Enna Clark furrowed her brow slightly.

The housekeeper also felt it was impolite of her to interrupt others so abruptly, but considering her status as a distinguished guest, he replied politely, “Your Highness, what would you like to know about the young master’s childhood?”

With sparkling eyes full of excitement, Scarlett said, “Anything about Brother Baron would be great. I want to hear it all.”

She spoke with such direct warmth that the housekeeper couldn’t help but frown, but he quickly masked it and said, “The young master was a loner as a child and didn’t have any particular stories to tell.”

His evasive answer was essentially a veiled refusal to Scarlett. But the highborn princess seemed not to notice the housekeeper’s prevarication and rejection at all. Her red lips curled into a smile, and her eyes also bent like crescents, revealing her heightened interest as she continued to inquire, “So Brother Baron was a loner since childhood, no wonder… But did he have anything he liked? I heard that Brother Baron enjoys collecting red wine, but it seemed he didn’t like the gift I brought. Since my visit is a rare occasion, I would like to give Brother Baron a greeting gift he truly likes.”

It seemed as though the young master had never shown any particular interest in anything; collecting red wine was, at most, just a hobby.

Speaking of likes, the young master seemed to have shown this emotion towards Ms. Clark.

A particularly strong liking, that is.

Surely the princess couldn’t possibly consider offering Ms. Clark to the young master as a greeting gift.

Thinking this, he couldn’t possibly say it out loud. He lowered his gaze, avoiding Scarlett’s coquettish eyes, and answered in a straightforward manner, “I’m sorry, Your Highness, but I do not know what the young master likes.”

“Is that so…” Disappointment was hard to hide in Scarlett’s eyes, but she quickly put on a smile and generously stated, “Never mind, I’ll think of something myself. I’m sure I can come up with a gift that Brother Baron will like.”

The housekeeper remained noncommittal, leading her to continue the tour at the front.

When they approached the garden, she suddenly stopped, blinked her large, expressive eyes, pointed toward the rockery, and said, “What’s inside the rockery? It looks nice, I want to go over there and take a look.”

“Inside there’s a small flower garden. If Your Highness wishes to see it, I will accompany you there,” said the housekeeper, who hadn’t anticipated her interest in the rockery and was prepared to walk that way.

To his surprise, Scarlett stopped him, “No need, you are older, and those small stone paths are too slippery; it would be bad if you were to trip and fall.”

“But…” the housekeeper said, troubled.

Before he could finish speaking, Scarlett unexpectedly wrapped her arm around Enna Clark’s and said intimately, “Isn’t Sister here? She can take me for a stroll just as well.”

“Right?”

Enna Clark looked into those beautiful large eyes staring at her, unsure why she had suddenly made such an intimate gesture.

She distinctly felt the princess’s hostility towards her, yet in the blink of an eye, it was as if she had become a different person.
