Chapter 363: Chapter 225: The Fake_3
Brian licked his lips and didn’t wait for Chief Flory, his figure disappearing into the woods.
By the time Chief Flory arrived, panting heavily,
Brian was already standing in front of a wooden dock.
He looked at the calm lake water in front of him and the wooden platform in the middle of the lake, playing with the double-barreled shotgun in his hand. As for the box he had been carrying, it was nowhere to be seen.
Hearing the noise,
Brian withdrew his gaze and said to Chief Flory, "I tossed the box with the shockwave bomb into there. You better notify Captain Krist."
Nothing unexpected had happened along the way.
He felt somewhat disappointed.
Chief Flory nodded, pulled out his phone, and dialed out.
There was a town nearby, and a campsite not far away with a signal receiver, so there was no need to worry about signal problems.
On the other end of the phone, there was only a busy tone.
Chief Flory’s face grew increasingly ugly.
After trying to make a few more calls, he pulled out his service pistol and said uneasily, "Brian, my phone suddenly has no signal. Give me your phone to see if I can get through."
Brian’s expression was relaxed, "No problem, it’s probably broken. Let me fix it for you."
Chief Flory looked puzzled, "How do you fix it?"
"Like this, of course."
Brian raised the barrel of the double-barreled shotgun in his hand.
Bang~
White mist rose up.
A headless body slowly fell...
Looking at the headless body on the ground, Brian spat on the ground disrespectfully, "Phone’s broken? I think your brains are broken, trying to fool me with ghost stories. Isn’t that like seeking death with a lantern in a toilet?"
This ’Chief Flory’ didn’t have the smell of cannabis in his mouth, and he didn’t doubt the story about the ’box with a shockwave bomb.’
It was clearly an imposter.
Of course, the most important reason was that he had run so fast on purpose, as a test for Chief Flory.
Actually, Brian had been keeping his senses locked onto Chief Flory’s position.
This impostor had essentially exposed his own presumed disguise right in front of Brian.
...
Amidst the blood and flesh on the ground, Brian noticed some gelatinous substance.
It seemed to be some kind of high-tech material for facial disguise.
The person had calluses on his hands and a slightly plump body, matching Chief Flory’s physique very closely; even the hair color and style wouldn’t reveal any differences unless looked at closely.
This was definitely a person who had been prepared in advance.
The only pity was that the person probably died too suddenly and didn’t leave behind any obsession.
This made good-hearted Brian quite disappointed.
How could he let you die content if you don’t burst out with obsession?
The deceased was not at all cooperative!
Picking up the person’s phone,
Brian dialed the number labeled Krist in the contacts.
After a moment,
A deep voice came from the other end, "Chief Flory, have you placed the box properly?"
Brian imitated Chief Flory’s voice, "Autopsy Officer Brian has already put the box into the lake. I saw it with my own eyes."
"Good, I’ll wait for you in the city."
The line paused for a moment before the call was hastily ended.
Brian whistled and headed back the way he came.
He didn’t extract any useful information, but this Krist was definitely problematic.
That was enough to confirm.
Brian believed that with his hospitality, the other party would be very willing to tell him some things.
...
Halfway there,
Brian sensed the stripped Chief Flory lying beneath a clump of bamboos.
The man was lying there like a dead pig.
After checking the man’s pupils, Brian slapped him across the face twice.
The guy was lucky; he was still alive.
Chief Flory woke up with a start from the pain.
His first reaction upon opening his eyes was to lash out with both hands while angrily cursing, "Pickled radish bitch, let go of the child!"
"Hey, it’s me!"
Brian slapped him again, knocking the rising Chief Flory back to the ground.
Once he saw Chief Flory had regained his composure and instinctively covered his privates, Brian withdrew his hand.
A fool would have no sense of shame.
Now he should be back to normal.
Brian kindly tossed his own expensive coat to him, "What happened?"
