Chapter 271: Chapter 187: Saving the Girl and the Professor_2
Brian said to Green, "Call old Hardenn and tell him to find Professor Mycroft’s wife’s contact information. Notify her of Mycroft’s death and ask her to come and claim the body."
Green was startled, "Boss Brian, do you mean that the person who killed the Mason couple is Professor Mycroft’s wife?"
They couldn’t even get ahold of Mycroft’s body yet.
The meaning in Brian’s words was clear: lure her to the B6 team to prevent her from fleeing.
Could it be just a coincidence?
He glanced at the shoes in his hands and finally understood what Brian had meant during that conversation with the Special Service Department leader.
But he couldn’t quite figure it out.
Professor Mycroft, whether in terms of value or social status, was not lacking. As his wife, why would she murder and why would she deliberately frame Professor Mycroft?
Furthermore, if this were true, wouldn’t that mean that even if they hadn’t found any appropriate clues and had just happened to investigate Professor Mycroft, his wife would still look for an opportunity to expose Mycroft’s suspicions to the police?
With his doubts, Green took out his phone, ready to contact old Hardenn.
Then Brian’s phone rang.
It was Hardenn calling.
Hardenn was in a good mood, "Brian, someone reported that her husband committed murder. The call center verified the identity and found that the deceased was the one in our current case, the Mason couple’s murder."
Brian curled his lip.
So before they had made a move, she had willingly walked right into their hands.
What a boring case.
He handed the phone to Green, "You talk to him."
Once done, Brian closed his eyes and began to check Mycroft’s obsessions.
...
Mycroft’s obsession: Protect Heidilin Silva from being retaliated against by people from the Black Light Company.
Gift One: 8 units of energy points
Gift Two: 3 units of energy points + Extensive Knowledge and Strong Memory
Gift Three: 3 units of energy points + Advanced Self-Training for Bootlickers
Along with the obsession was the projection of a woman.
She was a matronly beauty who still retained her charm, appeared to be in her thirties, dressed finely with robust features and long, slightly curled red hair draped over her shoulders. Paired with her fiery red lips, she had the beauty of an alluring woman in troubled times.
She was a type that men born in the fifties and sixties would admire.
In the past.
Just with her looks, she could have made a living in the entertainment industry.
Even today, she would still be popular with older white men.
Brian silently looked at the list of obsessions and gifts, especially Gift Three. He was speechless.
The damn self-training for bootlickers.
It seemed he was getting an idea of what this was about.
The truth behind this case would probably be melodramatic.
..
Back in the office.
Old Hardenn had already prepared the information about Professor Mycroft’s wife.
Professor Mycroft’s wife, Heidilin Silva, was precisely the woman from his obsession.
Heidilin Silva was registered as 48 years old this year, and from the photo on her previous ID, she appeared to be in her forties.
From a half-length photo, although Heidilin still looked well-maintained and kept in good shape, her beauty had faded with age; the loose skin could not uphold the facial value of her youth.
According to the archives.
Heidilin Silva had been married three times, with Professor Mycroft being the latest husband, registered three years ago. They were not an old married couple.
Heidilin Silva’s records showed more than three lawsuits at the court, all for illegal cosmetic medical practices and as many as seven illegal drug dealing citations, with the first dating back thirty-two years, when she had just turned sixteen.
This was a typical file of a delinquent girl’s growth.
"God, Professor Mycroft, how could he fancy such a woman, aren’t those young and pretty female college students more appealing?"
Green looked at the files, somewhat speechless.
Around this college, there were many young people who became the lovers of men and women professors or those with resources and status as a shortcut. This was quite common, especially in areas like science research and medical fields, where academic thresholds existed.
Old Hardenn shrugged his shoulders:
"I hacked into this woman’s social media on a whim, based on her IP address.
Her chatting skills are impressive, or should I say, she really understands men, easily grasping their hearts and bringing them significant emotional value.
Even after getting married, she still kept in touch with lots of men, getting them to make transfers and buy expensive gifts for her. Once they’re drained, she’d find an excuse to break up and move on to the next one."
Green was even more astonished, "And she’s still alive?"
"Yes, not only is she still alive, but there are also men she’s conned out of all their money, begging her to continue the online relationship and constantly apologizing to her.
Looking at those chat logs, I can’t understand what goes through those men’s heads."
The female clerk, Edna, listened with shining eyes.
Oh, my God.
Is she that good?
As someone who’s been single since birth, she thought about buying a class to learn.
Brian was also curious.
He came over to Old Hardenn’s workstation and started to go through the chat logs that had been obtained.
To his discovery, all the male targets that Heidilin chose seemed to have issues with their original families.
In psychological terms, these were men who lacked love in their upbringing.
And these men, they all shared a common feature: a bit of money, but socially awkward or introverted, no complex romantic history, mostly decent guys without bad habits, their work and life routines very regular, just lacking in social interactions, leading lives that were utterly uninteresting.
Heidilin’s chat tactics, moreover, followed a consistent pattern:
Initially gentle, understanding, and sweetly spoken.
Mid-way she would start brainwashing and applying PUA techniques, incessantly demanding money, increasing their cost of engagement.
Eventually, Heidilin would fabricate some excuse, pointing out the other person’s mistakes, applying cold violence, tormenting them in all sorts of ways, before gently asserting from the victim’s perspective that she did not want to keep them hanging on, continuing to apply PUA techniques: To love someone is not to torment each other, hoping they could find someone better...
In reality, by this stage, these male online love interests were mostly squeezed dry and had fallen into an endless state of self-doubt and depression.
What was even more incredible,
Most of these chatting partners had never even seen Heidilin in person.
They didn’t even know Heidilin’s address, real age, or identity...
"Pro," said Brian, looking at Old Hardenn, "What does this woman do for work now?"
Old Hardenn shook his head:
"The data doesn’t say, and there’s no related record in the social security department, but judging from her social media account, she might be involved in something like cosmetic medicine.
Oh, and I wanted to investigate Mycroft’s information, but his files had an organizational special marker. When I tried to access them, it drew attention from NW Tech Department’s people, who traced me through my IP and called our office to inquire about the situation.
This guy’s identity is somewhat unusual."
"He’s a special consultant for the NW Research Department and probably responsible for some particularly special research projects. Forget about Mycroft for now. Let me know when that Heidilin arrives."
Brian was quite interested in the ins and outs of this case.
He wasn’t too fond of melodramatic stories, except for the exceptionally melodramatic ones.
...
At four in the afternoon.
As Brian idly stared at a landscape painting he had casually taken, a delicate-looking and dignified woman arrived at the B6 team’s office building.
Old Hardenn cast a strange look at the painting in Brian’s hand and reminded him, "Brian, that Heidilin has arrived, and she’s brought a lawyer with her. Green has taken her to the interrogation room."
"She brought a lawyer?"
Brian put down the landscape painting, somewhat surprised.
"Yes, and the lawyer is a pretty boy, no less handsome than you are. Oh, and about this painting...", Old Hardenn glanced at the landscape painting Brian had placed on the table, "I don’t know why, but it looks very strange to me, almost eerily familiar."
Brian smiled without saying a word, did not respond, and got up to walk towards the interrogation room.
The main character had arrived; it was time for the case to come to a close.
Right.
To send someone to prison, or to find an opportunity to silently eliminate them, that should settle Mycroft’s obsession.
After all, the so-called Black Light Company wouldn’t go to the trouble of a dead person.
