Life in North America, you call this an autopsy officer?! -
Chapter 163 - 138 Broad-minded Brian
Chapter 163: Chapter 138 Broad-minded Brian
The vehicle stopped.
Ivan and his two companions got out of the car, reeking of alcohol.
Green was somewhat afraid to face Brian.
He gritted his teeth and apologized to Brian, "Boss Brian, I’m very sorry about what happened today."
Seeing that he didn’t make excuses, Brian nodded, "I don’t like it when people around me apologize because it means my trust has been betrayed. However, this time it wasn’t mainly your fault. I’ll talk to you about it later."
Saying this, he walked towards Ivan and Glenn.
Actually, Brian wasn’t particularly angry about what Ivan and the others had done.
But these two bastards shouldn’t have dragged the newbie he just took in!
Watching Brian approaching, Ivan, reeking of alcohol, spread his arms, "Brian, sorry, buddy, this matter is a bit complicated, but..."
Before he could finish,
Brian had already charged up to him, delivering a vicious knee strike to his abdomen.
Ivan instinctively blocked with his hands.
The next moment,
his face drastically changed.
The force contained in Brian’s knee was terrifying. It easily overpowered the strength in his arms and, carrying his hands along, ruthlessly shoved his 200-plus pound frame several inches off the ground.
Thump—
Ivan, with a fierce expression, clutched his stomach and collapsed onto the ground, in so much pain he couldn’t even breathe.
In front of brute strength, his once-prideful combat skills looked utterly pale.
After flooring Ivan,
Brian turned his gaze to Glenn.
This guy was way too cunning, immediately covering his face with his hands and crouching down, "Not the face!"
Brian: ...
There’s no pleasure in hitting you if you don’t resist.
You really don’t want me to vent my anger, do you?
Brian kicked Glenn down, punching and kicking him even harder than Ivan.
Glenn screamed miserably, and in no time, he was lying on the ground, swollen and bruised.
On Ivan’s side, after throwing up everything he had eaten, he finally recovered a bit.
Seeing his good friend being tortured, he hurriedly hugged Brian from behind, "Calm down, Brian..."
Brian’s muscles seemed to ripple like waves, shaking from top to bottom and pushing Ivan off while he simultaneously performed a back throw, smashing him down next to Glenn before continuing to fiercely beat him.
He got addicted to hitting them.
The shivering Green on the side was also dragged by Brian into the group’s internal heart-to-heart exchange...
...
Several minutes later.
The bruised and dirty group sat on the ground, each with a cigarette in their mouths, wincing in pain as they emitted clouds of smoke.
"FK, those enhancement reagents are insane, just one month and you can beat me down like that, totally unfair!"
Ivan exhaled a puff of smoke, visibly frustrated!
Glenn looked as if life had stolen his dreams, his face swollen like a pig’s head, pressed by inflamed muscles, his eyes squinted into slits, lifeless and dull.
Why did it always have to be the face!
He had been with this crappy B6 unit for just over a month, and at least half of that time his face had been swollen!
Green was much more fortunate.
Boss Brian hadn’t hit his face, so at least there was nothing special he needed to explain when he went back.
Still, the boss was considerate.
After everyone had finished smoking.
Brian pinched out the cigarette butt and, with no concern for public decency, flicked it away before slowly saying, "Tell me, why did you go behind my back to mess with the Limp Gang?"
Glenn’s face was so swollen he could barely speak coherently, so Ivan had to explain what happened.
It all started when they were investigating a dismemberment case; they had tracked down the Limp Gang based on the clues and through Glenn’s informant friend, found the factory that produced batteries by day and involved a Poison Maker by evening.
Based on the clues, the victim who had been dismembered and dumped in a trash bin was the factory’s waste disposal worker, specifically assigned to handle the chemical waste produced during drug manufacturing.
Typically, such an informer, even if executed by a gang for some reason, wouldn’t be discarded so carelessly; they would instead handle the body very carefully to avoid the police discovering it and tracing it back to the disguised drug factory.
But while they were still investigating,
Glenn’s informant friend, got drunk and talked nonsense, revealing his recent investigation about the Limp Gang to a prostitute.
The prostitute betrayed him for money.
Glenn’s informant friend was brutally murdered.
By the time Glenn realized something was wrong and rushed to his friend’s house, he only found his friend mutilated, all fingers and toes chopped off..
...
Ivan exhaled another puff of smoke and sighed, "Brian, you know, if we played by the rules, even if we could get those scumbags incarcerated in the end, with gang protection, they would live comfortably. That wouldn’t be fair to Glenn’s friend, so we took matters into our own hands."
"An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth!" Glenn added, waving his fists excitedly, though his speech was slurred and he dribbled a little.
Brian shrugged, "I’m just an acting group leader; I don’t care about these things, but you shouldn’t have dragged Green into this. He has a mother, a brother, and a sister to support. If something happened to him, their chance to escape poverty would be gone."
Hearing this, Green lowered his head, feeling somewhat relieved.
Ivan shrugged, "We positioned him at the rear door, and before the operation, we even set mines there. Staying there, Green wasn’t in much more danger than our usual workdays. NW, too, is fraught with danger and death, which is something every police officer must accept from the start. If Green died, we would support his family."
"That’s not a good enough reason!"
Brian shook his head, "You two bastards obviously saw that I was grooming Green, so you deliberately dragged him down to test my reaction."
Ivan noncommittally, mimicking Brian, crushed the cigarette in his hand, "At least it seems to have worked well; he took quite a few punches off you, FK, enhanced people are really freaks, your punches are as heavy as those of heavyweight champions!"
This shameless demeanor, far from infuriating Brian, angered Green significantly.
Angry, he flipped Ivan the middle finger, "You two are really shameless."
"Heh heh~" Glenn picked himself up off the ground and flashed an ugly pig-headed smile, "It’s not bad for young people to suffer a bit. Look, you’ve become much wiser now, realizing we’re no saints."
Ivan added, "Kid, don’t forget, your boss Brian isn’t a saint either. Remember, he once ordered you to kill that J-cop."
Though the incident was suppressed, it didn’t escape the notice of their colleagues.
It was also because of this incident.
Ivan and the others had confirmed Brian’s temper, which is why they brought Green into the fold, both as a way to train the newcomer and as a buffer in their dealings with Brian.
Green:...
He suddenly felt that comparing himself, a person who grew up in a black ghetto, to the people in front of him, he was not only as pure as a little white rabbit but also as innocent as a baby not yet weaned.
The three of them looked at Brian.
Brian spread his hands, "Well, I’m really not a good person, Green, welcome to the villain group."
They exchanged glances and burst into laughter.
...
With Green as a buffer.
After this incident.
Brian felt much closer to the Teddy combination at heart.
Mainly because none of them were good kids, and they all shared the same values.
For Brian, having a group of villainous colleagues also suited his interests. Otherwise, imagine having colleagues who complain about your violent enforcement of the law, and due to rules, you can’t even lay a hand on them directly.
Just thinking about it was uncomfortable.
Now it’s much better.
In the future, he wouldn’t need to hold back so much.
"Alright, from now on, we’ll speak directly about anything, Brian. That’s it for today, I must take Glenn to the doctor now. He’s drooling like an idiot."
Ivan glanced at the time, ready to leave with Glenn.
Brian, that bastard, was particularly ruthless in his violence, targeting excruciating yet not internally damaging spots. Even for him, a seasoned veteran, it was getting too much to bear.
Shi San, who had been watching the whole scene, suddenly darted out from a corner and blocked their way, indicating that they could not pass.
Brian shook his head and pointed towards the amusement park behind him, "No, no, no, you can’t leave yet. I didn’t invite you here just to blow off steam."
The three felt uneasy.
Green suddenly thought of Brian’s cunning and licked his lips nervously, "Boss Brian, is there something else?"
Brian shrugged, "I invite you to reminisce about the joys of childhood."
...
The eerie amusement park lights came on.
In front of the rusty drop tower, there were occasional ghastly screams.
The sensation of weightlessness from the up-and-down motion wasn’t the scariest part.
The most terrifying thing was the creaking sound of the ropes when they whipped up and down, accompanying the fear of snapping at any moment.
This unknown fear of the ropes breaking and becoming airborne, turning into a meat pie, was what truly tormented people.
Half an hour later.
The twelfth drop tower experience ended.
Green was crying for his mother, Ivan, the strong man, was rolling his eyes back, and Glenn, who had weak kidneys, even vomited foam.
Brian finally felt three warm flows surging through his body.
’Let those three bastards feel my despair of not being able to go up or down, just watching helplessly as their lives count down!’ Obsession x3, achieved!
Brian comfortably exhaled.
Those three obsessions had finally been completed!
He didn’t regret spending quite a bit of money to rent this amusement park and even instructed the staff to deliberately make the drop tower ropes creak, all to torment Ivan and his goons psychologically.
Beating up Ivan and his thugs while achieving three obsessions at the same time.
The open-hearted Brian then nodded in satisfaction.
Finally, he felt relieved!
...
As a warm-hearted man.
Brian first took Green home, then took Ivan, who had rested for more than an hour yet still had trembling legs, and the unconscious Glenn, to the hospital.
Tomorrow was a rest day.
He wasn’t worried about these three fellows skipping work, giving them ample time to recover both physically and emotionally.
Mainly playing a caring role.
...
Back at the apartment.
Brian kicked a bag of cash earned by Shi San under the bed, "Shi San, I’ll keep the money here for now. When you grow up, it can be used for your wedding and having kids."
Shi San wagged his tail obediently, "Woof woof~ (Big dog, you’re really kind~)"
"Fool, if I don’t treat you well, who will?" Brian patted Shi San’s head, PUA style saying, "Keep making money, keep up the good work. Next year, I’ll try to buy another bulletproof car to take you out for a ride, and find a female owner to love you."
Children need to be taught from a young age.
A session of praises mixed with petting.
Shi San, a little over two months old, dizzily returned under the bed, digesting the overwhelming flattery from Brian, even forgetting to eat his dinner.
With a sense of accomplishment from teaching his child, Brian freshened up, ate something simple, then began to review today’s gains.
Three obsessions, a total of twenty-three Gift Energy points.
Individually they aren’t much, but together, they add up.
Up to now.
Brian, wealthier than ever, had accumulated sixty-eight Gift Energy points!
He resisted the urge to spend them all at once, "Tomorrow is a day off, just perfect to deal with that black Mutant called Beastman in the suburbs."
Beastman Mutant’s obsession: Let the one wearing the clown mask, who caused me to lose my specially bred falcons, suffer the agony of a thousand bugs devouring him!
Just the pain of a thousand bugs devouring him?
Simple.
Tomorrow, go to the suburbs, find a termite hill, dig in, and that’s it.
There’s no shortage of termites here, gathering in community wood houses, farm surroundings underground, etc., any termite hill houses hundreds of thousands to millions of termites.
The mere pain of a thousand bugs, who does it underestimate?
Beastman Mutant’s obsession offers two Gift choices, both good.
Gift One: 40 Gift Energy points.
Gift Two: 5 Gift Energy points + biological control
Whichever he picks, it’ll be fine!
Brian planned to first fulfill this obsession tomorrow, then go for physical enhancement. If sixty-eight Gift Energy points aren’t enough, he’d choose the first Gift and continue enhancing!
He couldn’t believe that spending over a hundred points of energy wouldn’t break through the enhancement bottleneck!
