Level 1 to Infinity: My Bloodline Is the Ultimate Cheat! -
Chapter 298 - 298: Grandfather’s Whereabouts
Ryan, who normally wasn't afraid of anything, just didn't like fighting.
He muttered under his breath, "Can we not fight?"
"If we win... you can have all the rabbit meat you want!"
Leeroy, now transformed, quickly pursued Ethan's retreating figure. As he brushed past Ryan, he growled these puzzling words. His strange statement left everyone bewildered—including Ryan and Evelyn.
Evelyn was the first to recover. She glanced at Ryan and said, "Eldest brother is serious this time!"
With that, she waved both hands. Thirteen golden needles rose and floated around her.
"The Mercer Family's Thirteen Needles? What relation do you have to Dr. Aldric?" Just as she was about to move forward, Markham suddenly called out in astonishment.
Ryan, Evelyn, and Leeroy froze in their tracks. They looked at him with excitement, and Leeroy even spun around. In an instant, he appeared before Markham. With sharp, wolf-like claws, he grabbed Markham's shoulder and demanded, "You've seen Dr. Aldric? When did you see him? Where?"
"Uh... R-Ryan... could you remove your claws... can we talk properly?" Markham nearly burst into tears. After Leeroy's transformation, his claw tips had become as sharp as blades. At this moment, three of his claw tips were pressing against Markham's main artery. If not for Markham's thick skin, they would have already pierced through.
"Oh..." Ryan quickly released him, but his intense gaze seemed to say: Speak quickly, or I'll claw you to death.
"You know Grandpa Aldric? What relation are you to him?" Maria suddenly asked from the side.
"He's my grandfather! He's been missing for a year!" Ryan replied. "How do you know my grandfather?"
Evelyn, who had been getting along well with Maria these past few days, stepped forward. "What?" Maria's eyes widened in surprise.
"What is it? Tell me quickly, have you seen my grandfather?" Evelyn was on the verge of tears.
"Oh my... Evelyn, don't cry! Listen to me—"
BOOM!
Before Maria could finish, a thunderous noise erupted from the distance. Everyone turned to see Ethan engaged in combat. Leeroy looked in that direction, then back at Maria and Markham. He bit his lip, then turned and ran toward Ethan.
Evelyn wiped away a tear. "Let's help Ethan first!"
She prepared to move.
"Dr. Aldric is fine. He came to our Whitmore Family territory a year ago," Maria called out. "He's still there, helping my father with his illness!"
Evelyn and Ryan, who had already taken several steps, froze. Ryan turned his head and stared at Maria. Maria nodded firmly. "It's true."
Hearing this, Evelyn's body swayed slightly—but in the next second, her face lit up with joy.
And in the distance, Leeroy, with his super-developed hearing, naturally heard everything. Suddenly, the heavy weight that had been pressing on his chest seemed to lift.
"Awoooo... Awoooo..." As he ran, he howled toward the sky.
This drew the attention of spectators on the viewing platform, who turned to look and whispered among themselves.
"Well... this year's tournament really has all sorts of weirdos."
"Indeed, there's even a Mutant participating!"
"Hmph, such low-class elements..."
The participants on the platform remained unaware of these comments. They were all fighting fiercely. The battle had been raging for less than half an hour, but many had already died on the platform. Many more had been severely injured and knocked off.
Ethan, fighting at the front, couldn't help but glance back. What was wrong with Leeroy?
But what caught his eye was the sight of the three Chase siblings—all of them joining the fight.
Evelyn's thirteen golden needles fluttered like butterflies, up and down. Wherever they passed, combatants froze in place, unable to move. Seconds later, a spot of crimson would seep from between their eyebrows. This girl was actually killing people...
On Ryan's side, countless paper figures the size of palms flew out. Whenever someone charged at him, the paper figures would instantly attack. The soft paper figures somehow managed to twist opponents into pretzels. Even worse... they could use their sharp edges to slice through enemies' arteries. Blood would spray out violently, and the paper figure, soaked in blood, would fall to the ground, struggling to rise!
The sudden ferocity of the Chase siblings left Markham and the others wide-eyed with shock.
These were... independent practitioners? The independent practitioners following Ethan?
Bobby and Rook watched with blood boiling in their veins, eager to join. But Markham held them back.
"You two, have you forgotten what Ethan said? You're supposed to protect us!"
Only then did they remember Ethan's instructions before entering the arena. He had told them to protect Markham and his sister and said: Leave the rest to me.
Bobby and Rook, being from the Noble Eight Lineages, naturally felt some resistance to such commanding language from Ethan. But seeing their big bro Markham following Ethan's every order, they had no choice but to comply.
Yet now, witnessing Ethan's invincible presence, they felt their blood ignite.
"Oh..." The two, restrained by Markham, responded reluctantly.
"Damn it..." Seeing their expressions, Markham cursed. But he didn't say anything more—because he also wanted to join the fight...
At the front, the Chase siblings had already joined up with Ethan. Their actions had drawn the attention of everyone on Arena Three. Many combatants stopped fighting and began to surround them.
In just a few minutes, the four of them had displayed overwhelming power. More than twenty people had died at their hands. These four didn't actively attack others, just kept walking toward the center of the arena. But whenever someone attacked them, they would be instantly killed.
Everything happening here prompted the participants on this arena to spontaneously form an alliance.
Seeing this, Ethan's group stopped in their tracks. They were already very close to the center of the arena. Originally, Ethan had planned to fight all the way to the center, attract everyone's attention, then drive them off the platform—and kill those who refused to leave. He hadn't expected these people to notice them so quickly.
Although these people were no match for them, they were at least aware of the threat.
At this moment, on the towering viewing platforms of the Noble Eight Lineages, someone had also noticed Arena Three.
"Master Quinn... your grandson Bobby is over there, right?" The speaker was Samuel Wynn, head of the Wynn family.
Beside him was Grandmaster Quinn, Bobby's grandfather and the previous head of the Quinn family.
"Yes... and isn't your Rook there too?" Grandmaster Quinn nodded. He had been observing Arena Seven, where Bryan, Bobby's older brother, was positioned. Now, at Samuel's mention of Arena Three, he shifted his attention there.
At a glance, he saw Bobby, Rook, and the Whitmore siblings joining Ethan. He frowned, not fully understanding the situation—but he could see that the four people in front were about to be surrounded.
Why was that good-for-nothing Bobby with them?
