From the doorway, she saw Zhou Shengting working seriously, sometimes burying his head in writing and sometimes on the phone.

“Yeah, why didn’t you wake me up?” Bai Lan felt a bit embarrassed for sleeping like a log in his office.

“It’s fine, sleep as much as you want,” Zhou Shengting said indifferently.

“Are you done with work?” Bai Lan asked.

“Yeah, almost. I have a lunch appointment with a client, who’s also a friend. He’s bringing his wife, so it’s perfect, we can go together,” Zhou Shengting thought back to the phone call he just had.

“That’s not good, is it? You have serious matters to discuss. I would be bored going there. I might as well head back,” Bai Lan said, being pregnant, she wasn’t very keen on meeting people now.

“No problem, his wife will be there too, and you can make one more friend,” Zhou Shengting pinched her little hand and then said gently.

“If it really won’t be a bother, then let’s go,” Bai Lan didn’t insist any further.

However, she rarely appeared in front of his friends.

“Okay, then get ready, we’ll leave around 11 o’clock. It’ll be about the right time when we get there,” Zhou Shengting stroked her head.

Bai Lan sat up, “Alright, you go ahead with your work, I’ll get ready.”

Bai Lan went into the restroom of the lounge to freshen up and then took out the makeup from her bag.

Fortunately, she always kept it in there, although she barely wore makeup now that she was pregnant.

But, out of habit, she still carried it in her bag, and now it came in handy.

After all, going out to meet friends, she should at least put on a light makeup; that was the basic respect, no need to look unkempt.

She checked her dress and was relieved to find it was quite appropriate.

She tied up her hair, making herself look very refreshing.

When she came out, Zhou Shengting glanced at her and smiled.

“What? Is there something wrong?” Bai Lan looked herself over from left to right.

“No, I think my wife looks very beautiful,” Zhou Shengting complimented.

She sat on the sofa waiting for him.

After leaving, they headed to the hotel.

On the way there, Zhou Shengting mentioned that the friend they were meeting for lunch was his business partner, who had been married for less than a year, and he had not yet met the partner’s wife.

Bai Lan nodded; making one more friend was always good.

At lunchtime, the traffic was usually heavy, and they arrived at 12 pm.

Zhou Shengting, holding Bai Lan’s hand, walked into the hotel lobby and straight to the private room.

They had reserved the Peony Room.

Zhou Shengting pushed open the door and saw a man of similar age to him, sitting next to a woman.
