Chapter 1256 - Chapter 1256 Chapter 1255 Facing the Reporters
Chapter 1256: Chapter 1255: Facing the Reporters Chapter 1256: Chapter 1255: Facing the Reporters Bai Lan nodded slightly, “I’ll try my best, but I still feel quite awkward.”
After all, she was usually around friends, so it was more relaxed, but now she was with elders, which made her somewhat nervous inside. Her main concern was about not performing well and bringing shame to Zhou Shengting.
While waiting for the traffic light, Zhou Shengting stretched out his hand, gave her a firm squeeze, and then said, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here for you, aren’t I?”
Bai Lan nodded gently and gave him a tender smile.
The car raced smoothly on the road and soon came to a stop outside the most prestigious hotel in the city.
Zhou Shengting pulled over, and someone immediately came up to take care of the parking.
Zhou Shengting and Bai Lan got out of the car arm in arm.
But unexpectedly, as soon as reporters waiting at the hotel entrance saw them, they swarmed over.
In an instant, Zhou Shengting and Bai Lan found themselves surrounded by flashing cameras and spotlights, becoming the center of attention.
Bai Lan was somewhat stunned. Wasn’t it just her father-in-law’s birthday? Why were there so many media outlets present?
The scale of the event was something she had not anticipated.
Bai Lan was quite nervous inside, as this was the first time she appeared in public as Madam Zhou. She was afraid of making any mistakes and then ending up on the news headlines.
However, Bai Lan managed to keep her composure, her face elegant and poised with a gentle smile throughout.
She was also relieved that her attire was appropriate and did not cause embarrassment.
Zhou Shengting’s expression, however, was very grim, his face cold, his handsome brows slightly furrowed, showing his displeasure.
He was perplexed as to why the media had turned up at his father’s birthday, which was supposed to be a family banquet.
Perhaps it was because many business partners were also invited this time. Since his father’s birthdays were becoming fewer, he wanted to make the event more dignified to liven things up and make the old man happy.
He had not expected the media to catch wind of the event and to have arrived so early, waiting here.
The reporters, somewhat intimidated by Zhou Shengting, typically only dared to take secret photographs and never approached to interview him. But today, seeing Zhou Shengting with a woman, they saw enough news value to take a risk.
“Mr. Zhou, may I ask if the lady by your side is your girlfriend?” one reporter boldly inquired.
“This is my wife,” Zhou Shengting finally spoke authoritatively.
He wanted to tell the world that Bai Lan was his wife.
“So, it’s Madam Zhou, my apologies. However, did you and your wife choose to have a secret and low-profile wedding? Because there hasn’t been any news about it before, do you plan to hold a wedding banquet?” another reporter continued to probe.
“Right, Mr. Zhou, is Madam Zhou pregnant?” one sharp-eyed reporter noticed that Bai Lan was wearing a babydoll style dress, which, although not revealing her belly, seemed to suggest she was expecting.
“Mr. Zhou…”
The reporters asked a lot of questions, and Zhou Shengting just pressed his lips together, his face growing darker by the moment.
Realizing they were not getting the answers they wanted from Zhou Shengting, and knowing further questioning might bring trouble, the reporters turned their attention away.
So they pinned all their hopes on Bai Lan, wishing she might give them the answers they desired. But they were mistaken.
“Madam Zhou, may I ask how you met Mr. Zhou? We had not heard anything about your relationship before, it came quite as a surprise. Was it a shotgun wedding?” The barrage of questions from the reporters came like cannon fire.
