Chapter 74: Is It Good Not to Get Divorced?
Chapter 74: Chapter 74: Is It Good Not to Get Divorced?
The men present all had an understanding of Xiao Jinsheng’s space ability.
For a moment, everyone directed their gaze toward Xiao Jinsheng.
Yu Yunxiao stood there with his cat ears twitching in discontent, evidently aware of Shi Xie’s current danger, but he said nothing.
Su Ye lowered his gaze and turned to leave, preparing to find a new shelter, only to be stopped by Huaiqing, who pulled him aside: "I have something to tell you."
"No time," Su Ye replied coldly.
With the addition of Li already being troubling enough, now Shi Xie was coming too. Su Ye suppressed the fury brewing within him.
"It’s about Xiao Jinsheng, and also about what I mentioned when she married Li before," Huaiqing reminded.
At those words, Su Ye reluctantly followed him.
Now only Li remained standing beside Xiao Jinsheng, her questioning gaze directed at him.
Li looked annoyed as he turned his head to the side: "If you like him, then form a contract."
Shi Xie was unconscious—if they wanted him to marry Xiao Jinsheng, he would need to be awake and able to control Star Map.
At present, the only option left was the Contractual Totem—a way to bring Shi Xie into the space.
After saying this, Li turned his back and refused to look at Xiao Jinsheng again.
Xiao Jinsheng bit her lip, casting a deep glance at Li before closing her eyes and kissing Shi Xie.
The Ice Blue Mermaid Totem emerged over Xiao Jinsheng’s heart, resonating with the ice-blue totem concealed under the gauzy fabric covering Shi Xie’s chest.
It was just a light brush of her lips, yet Xiao Jinsheng quickly pulled back, noticing that Shi Xie was somehow awake, smiling brightly at her: "Female Master, you’ve accepted me."
"Alright, now that the contract is made, hurry and take him inside," Li said as he turned back, scooping Xiao Jinsheng into his arms and urging her on.
Su Ye, called away by Huaiqing, returned with a complex expression on his face.
To avoid the injured group encountering another Fog Corpse assault, Xiao Jinsheng quickly brought them into the space.
Shi Xie hadn’t even gotten a chance to talk with Xiao Jinsheng before Li whisked her away, while Shi Xie was taken by Yu Yunxiao for healing.
In one room with three beds lay three wounded individuals, Yu Yunxiao tirelessly treating one after another.
Li brought Xiao Jinsheng to the edge of Crescent Moon Lake, bending down to pull her tightly into his embrace, his tone full of lingering fear: "I almost—almost lost you again."
The trials they’d endured as children. Xiao Jinsheng’s altered memories. The one missed opportunity. All of it left Li in a state of heightened stress whenever it concerned her.
"I’m here," Xiao Jinsheng said, patting his back to comfort him.
"You’ve accepted Shi Xie," Li said, lowering his head to look at her.
Xiao Jinsheng’s gaze drifted, her voice faltering: "You were the one who said... If I liked him, I could form a contract."
"Hmm, I did say that," Li murmured, pulling her tightly into his embrace, lowering his head to nuzzle against hers: "Just don’t forget me again. Even if you have more Beast Husbands, never forget me again, and I’ll agree to anything."
As children, when his superpower was only Two Stars, he met Xiao Jinsheng. The two of them fled for half a month, constantly facing attacks from Three-Star and Four-Star Fog Corpses and Mutant Beasts.
Even when surrounded by Fog Corpses to the point of being riddled with wounds, he still protected Xiao Jinsheng perfectly.
But... Xiao Jinsheng forgot him.
She not only forgot him but married other men—five in total.
Back then, Li thought it was because he wasn’t strong enough to protect her properly.
Now, he had reached Ten Stars and acquired the Demon Territory. He’d believed he could provide Xiao Jinsheng with a safe environment.
But after this incident, Li realized he was wrong.
The survival rules of this world wouldn’t allow him to journey alone with Xiao Jinsheng.
Unless he stood at the pinnacle, there was no way to provide safety and comfort to his female partner without forming alliances.
Alliances with his Female Master’s other Beast Husbands.
As for Shi Xie—a Ten Star superpower wielder and a rival of nearly ten years—Li understood his actual strength better than anyone.
Shi Xie would indeed make a formidable ally.
"I won’t forget anymore. I’ll also regain my memories," Xiao Jinsheng replied, standing on tiptoes to pat his head.
Seeing her struggle to reach, Li leaned down to assist.
After comforting Li, Xiao Jinsheng went to check on the three lying on the sickbeds.
Que Zelian’s poison had been purged, and his complexion was back to its pale, rosy glow.
However, of the three, his injuries remained the worst—even though Yu Yunxiao had healed his back, burned by toxic rain, he was still in a coma.
Mo Jiao had exhausted his superpower, using Que Zelian’s wind power support to control the black mist and eliminate hundreds of Six-Star and Seven-Star Fog Corpses, even severely injuring Fog Corpses above Seven Stars. His mental state was damaged, leaving him just as unconscious.
Xiao Jinsheng moved between the sickbeds, tucking the blanket around Mo Jiao and carefully freeing Que Zelian’s long hair pinned under his body to avoid discomfort.
Once everything was done, she turned to Shi Xie on the bed against the wall and asked with concern, "How are you feeling now?"
"Jinsheng, I feel much better now," Shi Xie replied with a smile.
Leaning against a stack of soft pillows, he took out the frost-flower-adorned Ice Blue Ring once again, smiling at Xiao Jinsheng: "Jinsheng, I think we should formally get acquainted."
"My name is Shi Xie, from the deep sea, a Beastman Mermaid," Shi Xie said, grinning.
"Shi ’Yu’? So your name is pronounced ’Yu,’ not ’Xie’?" Xiao Jinsheng asked in surprise.
"Either way is fine," Shi Xie chuckled, his ice-blue eyes shimmering as he looked at her. "Whichever you prefer to call me is okay."
Saying this, he got out of bed, knelt on one knee before Xiao Jinsheng, and looked up at her expectantly: "So now, can you accept this?"
Xiao Jinsheng’s fingers curled. On her ring finger was a striking red Star Stone diamond ring.
"If that’s what’s bothering you, don’t worry about it," Shi Xie said with a smile, gently holding her hand. His blue-lashed eyes were full of sincerity as he slid the ring onto her finger next to the existing one.
"An exceptional female will naturally attract more Beastmen," Shi Xie added with a smile. "Being one of the later ones, I’ll listen to the senior ones in the future and won’t let the Female Master worry about household matters."
From the beginning, he understood he was the seventh...
And he’d always waited for the Ice Sea Flower to bloom.
Among her seven Beast Husbands, Xiao Jinsheng had never met one who spoke as considerately as Shi Xie.
Suppressing a smile, she nodded repeatedly and extended her hand: "Welcome home, Shi Xie."
Shi Xie took her hand, adorned with two rings, and stood. He cautiously stepped closer, lifting his hand, about to wrap it around Xiao Jinsheng’s waist, when the sound of a cold laugh came from beside them.
"Turns out I woke up at the wrong time," Mo Jiao said mockingly.
"Mo Jiao, how are you feeling now?" Hearing his voice, Xiao Jinsheng excitedly threw herself toward him.
"Not dead yet," Mo Jiao replied coldly, clucking his tongue as he pulled Xiao Jinsheng toward the bed. His purple eyes shifted to Shi Xie, but his question was directed at Xiao Jinsheng: "What’s all this about?"
"Well... We signed a Totem Contract," Xiao Jinsheng explained. "From now on, he’s part of our family too."
"Seven. You really dare to take on seven," Mo Jiao mused, turning to Xiao Jinsheng with a smirk. "Seven. Are you sure you can handle it?"
"What are you saying!" Xiao Jinsheng scolded, reaching out to cover Mo Jiao’s mouth.
Her fingertips brushed against the black scales still visible on the side of his face.
She gently traced the rigid scales, only for Mo Jiao to seize her wrist tightly with a large hand.
His purple eyes darkened, his tone provocative: "Are you afraid?"
"I’m not afraid."
This unexpected response led Xiao Jinsheng to lean into him and press a kiss to the scales beneath his neck.
Mo Jiao froze in place due to her action, hurriedly retracting the sharp edges of his scales to avoid hurting her.
"Mo Jiao~" Xiao Jinsheng nestled against him, speaking sweetly: "You’re still at negative 60 points. Your score hasn’t improved in ages."
"What now? Are you planning on scoring me full marks so I’ll hurry up and divorce you?" Mo Jiao sneered.
"Don’t divorce me, alright?" Xiao Jinsheng said, pulling up his hand and looking at him with softened eyes.
Mo Jiao froze with wide eyes, his purple gaze fixed on her: "You... What did you just say?"
