Lethal Stunner: Kicking Off with Five Beast Husbands
Chapter 29: The Scoring Sisters Are Arguing

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: The Scoring Sisters Are Arguing

Xiao Jinsheng was still holding pomelo leaves, trying to sweep away Su Ye’s bad luck.

Su Ye’s cold gaze locked onto her, and he snatched the pomelo leaves from her hand.

"What are you doing?" Xiao Jinsheng quickly retreated as she watched his furious yet striking face.

"What am I doing?" Su Ye sneered. "Shouldn’t you be explaining what you just said?"

"In your eyes, am I just cargo?" Su Ye demanded. "We are your Beast Husbands. You sold Mo Jiao before, and now you want to send me away too."

"Xiao Jinsheng, you said you would change, but I think you’re incorrigible!"

After spitting out his resentment, Su Ye threw the pomelo leaves to the ground and turned to enter the courtyard.

Xiao Jinsheng scratched her head in confusion, shouting toward his retreating figure, "When did I say I wanted to send you away?"

After stepping into the courtyard, Su Ye stopped in his tracks, turning back with golden eyes devoid of emotion. "Are you coming in or not? If not, I’ll just close the door."

Xiao Jinsheng hurriedly entered the courtyard and chased after Su Ye, who was now locking the door. "Explain yourself! What do you mean by saying I want to send you away?"

"You know what you’re thinking deep down," Su Ye said in a low tone.

Once the door was locked, he stopped paying attention to Xiao Jinsheng and briskly strode into the house.

Xiao Jinsheng followed him, only to see him heading upstairs without a second thought.

"Well, well! The rating queen is quarreling again," Mo Jiao chuckled from the sofa.

"Eat your pomelo, death-seeker!" Xiao Jinsheng shot him a fierce glare.

"What happened?" Que Zelian asked gently. "Weren’t you arguing with Bai Yan earlier? How did you end up fighting with Su Ye instead?"

"How would I know!" Xiao Jinsheng replied irritably.

She then recounted her earlier argument with Bai Yan and Jin Ao.

"He said I wanted to send him away, but I never had such an intention," Xiao Jinsheng explained.

"Bai Yan’s words are always laced with insinuations. She kept leading me to misunderstand her relationship with Su Ye. I just used her tactics against her. Since she tried to provoke distrust between me and Su Ye, I shaded her back and caused friction between her and Jin Ao."

"I even won the argument!" Xiao Jinsheng became more and more aggrieved as she spoke. "Instead of praising me, Su Ye got mad at me."

After hearing this, Que Zelian handed her a piece of carefully peeled pomelo flesh in consolation. "You didn’t do anything wrong."

Xiao Jinsheng looked up at him, pleasantly surprised.

Que Zelian smiled and added, "Of course, Su Ye isn’t in the wrong either."

"Not just Su Ye—truthfully, all five of us Beast Husbands have a deep impression of your former personality," Que Zelian clarified.

"It hasn’t even been a week since you sold Mo Jiao on the black market. Even though you’re working on yourself, those who interact with you less frequently than I do can’t be sure you’ve truly changed."

"They can only judge your words based on who you used to be."

"The old you? You’d say something like sending your Beast Husband away, and you’d mean it."

"Granted, perhaps not sending him to Bai Yan, but perhaps to someone else."

"I wasn’t thinking that far ahead. I just wanted to irritate Jin Ao and mess with his relationship with Bai Yan," Xiao Jinsheng admitted quietly.

Her plan indeed frustrated Jin Ao—and Su Ye as well.

"Su Ye has a proud temperament. It’s natural for him to get angry," Que Zelian reassured her warmly. "But no matter what, he’s still your Beast Husband. He wouldn’t be truly angry with you."

"If there’s misunderstanding and conflict between two people, it’s better to talk it out instead of bottling up feelings, which could escalate small issues into big problems."

"Should I go explain to him now?" Xiao Jinsheng asked.

"Yes, go ahead," Que Zelian nodded.

Xiao Jinsheng got up, ready to head upstairs, but turned back to Que Zelian with a suspicious look. "You really want me to go?"

"Hmm?" Que Zelian raised an eyebrow in feigned confusion.

"I’m really going!" Xiao Jinsheng declared again.

"Unless you file for divorce, you can’t keep your relationship with them strained forever," Que Zelian reminded her subtly.

"Alright, I’m going now~" Xiao Jinsheng cheered herself on before heading upstairs to find Su Ye’s room.

On her way up, she couldn’t help but marvel at how the five Beast Husbands never seemed to clash with one another.

"Su Ye, I’m here to talk to you!" Xiao Jinsheng politely knocked on Su Ye’s door but received no response.

She knocked a few more times and called out, but still no answer.

Thinking Su Ye might still be sulking, Xiao Jinsheng pressed her ear against the door to listen for any movement inside.

At this moment, her upper body leaned entirely on the closed door for support.

The door suddenly opened from the inside, leaving Xiao Jinsheng without any support. She floundered and fell forward.

She grabbed onto a pair of muscular arms with both hands, her left cheek pressed against the warm, damp chest.

"So, you rushed over here just to ambush me as soon as I opened the door?" Su Ye let her hold his arms as he lowered his head to tease her.

"You can’t blame me! You opened the door without making a sound!" Xiao Jinsheng used his arms to help herself back up. When she saw the unexpected view in front of her, her eyes almost popped out.

She quickly stepped back two paces and covered her eyes with one hand. "Ahhh! Why are you coming out with just a bath towel on?"

Su Ye crossed his arms and leaned casually against the doorframe. His golden eyes met Xiao Jinsheng’s foxy gaze. "Fun fact: if your fingers are spread out like crab claws, they won’t block your view."

"Heheh," Xiao Jinsheng giggled cheekily and clenched her fingers together to fully cover her eyes. "I came here to talk to you. Invite me to sit down first so I can apologize."

Su Ye was surprisingly amused. "Classic Jinsheng."

At least this was progress.

She wasn’t demanding him kneel before she apologized anymore.

"Find a seat yourself," Su Ye replied offhandedly before closing the door.

Xiao Jinsheng lowered her hands from her eyes and curiously surveyed Su Ye’s room.

The walls were gray, and the industrial-style furniture matched the decor.

He had even designated a special spot to display his impressive two-meter-long horse-slaying blade.

Xiao Jinsheng sat down on the same gray sofa, only to realize Su Ye had followed her and taken a seat across from her.

Compared to her slightly self-conscious posture, Su Ye sat confidently even with just a bath towel wrapped around him.

If the towel weren’t limiting him, he would’ve crossed a leg, too.

"Alright, tell me how you plan to apologize."

Su Ye picked up the towel from around his neck and casually wiped his still-dripping hair. "I’m not really concerned about your apology. I’m just curious about how creative you’ll make it."

Xiao Jinsheng explained again why she shaded Bai Yan, retaliating in kind.

She spoke with full sincerity, "I’ve thought it through. You are my Beast Husbands. Even if you weren’t, you all have your own independent personalities. You’re not objects to be traded or given away."

"If we ever got divorced, then as a free man, your actions and choices wouldn’t be mine to manipulate or use as tools during petty arguments."

Su Ye’s hand paused while wiping his hair, his gaze showing surprise as he looked at Xiao Jinsheng.

While he had heard she was coming to apologize, he hadn’t expected her to say anything genuinely reasonable.

Now it seemed like she had truly changed—fixed her ways?

"It’s not entirely your fault either."

Su Ye set the towel aside, the sharpness in his gaze softening significantly. "Part of it is due to my distrust toward you. After all, you really have changed. As your Beast Husband, I should trust you more, shouldn’t I?"
