Lethal Stunner: Kicking Off with Five Beast Husbands
Chapter 137: A Real Man Never Cries

Chapter 137: Chapter 137: A Real Man Never Cries

Upon hearing this, Xiao Jinsheng instantly tensed up.

The Insect Brain muttered in frustration, "How am I supposed to help you locate him now? Shi Xie ran off who knows where."

"The only reason I knew his location initially was because I took you through time travel to this point. Don’t get your sequence of events mixed up."

"Aren’t you the system? How can you not handle this? You used to be able to pinpoint his location before!" Bai Yan snapped irritably.

The Insect Brain was speechless. "Host, we’re in a time reversal right now. Every second we spend here drains a ton of my energy, so all system functions are currently suspended."

"Why don’t you go look for him yourself? I can’t locate him. I told you to drive faster, but no, you chose to go slow."

The Insect Brain murmured under its breath, "How is that my fault?"

"Where am I even supposed to look?" Bai Yan deflated.

"In the sea, obviously. He’s a Mermaid; he’d definitely appear in the ocean," the Insect Brain said indifferently.

Bai Yan became even angrier. "Are you trying to get me killed? How am I supposed to go underwater? I don’t even have Water Element Superpower!"

Her superpower was spiritual power.

For this competition trip to Cloud Island, the second superpower she awakened turned out to be just as useless as her spiritual power.

It was an affinity to connect with insects.

Only insects were included—animals didn’t count.

If it had been an affinity with animals, Bai Yan would be laughing herself awake in her sleep.

On the Mist Continent, besides Fog Corpses, there were Mutant Beasts.

She could easily utilize an animal affinity superpower to make those Mutant Beasts work for her.

But alas, it was all just wishful thinking.

Thinking about her second ability, an affinity with the Insect Clan, Bai Yan felt disgusted to the core, to the point where she didn’t even want to level up her Superpower Level.

As a result, her insect affinity was still stuck at the One Star Level that came with her ability awakening.

Bai Yan and the Insect Brain started arguing on the shore over how to find Shi Xie.

Meanwhile, Xiao Jinsheng was hiding alone in the ocean. Hearing that the Insect Brain’s abilities were currently limited, her eyes lit up.

She checked her own state.

Spiritual power at Seven Stars, Plundering Superpower at Five Stars.

On top of that, she had duplicated Shi Xie’s Ice and Water Superpower.

Yu Yunxiao’s Healing Element Superpower.

Li’s Domain Superpower.

Que Zelian’s Wind Element Superpower.

With buffs stacked like this, she was only missing a comprehensive defensive setup.

In that moment, a murderous intent surged in Xiao Jinsheng’s heart.

Why not just kill the Insect Brain and Bai Yan right now?

Just as she was contemplating this, she heard Bai Yan say from the shore, "My insect affinity superpower is useless, my Beast Husband isn’t here, and your system functions are out of commission. Yet you’re still asking me to go into the ocean."

"Encountering danger would leave me dead five hundred times over!"

"You don’t have five hundred lives," the Insect Brain corrected her.

Bai Yan was fuming. "Is that what I meant?!"

"So what now? We’re already here; we can’t just leave without doing anything, can we? You go look for Shi Xie yourself. If it comes down to it, we should just head back," the Insect Brain suggested.

But Bai Yan wasn’t willing.

They had already come all this way. Leaving without accomplishing anything made her feel frustrated.

"If we can’t find Shi Xie, what about someone else?" Bai Yan smirked slyly. "Xiao Jinsheng certainly has a lot of Beast Husbands with good talents. Are any of them nearby?"

"Where would they be? You’re by the sea—her other Beast Husbands have animal forms that are all land-based," the Insect Brain retorted helplessly. "You should’ve said so earlier. If you hadn’t chosen Shi Xie and didn’t come to the seaside, we could’ve switched locations."

"We only have two days. I don’t have the energy to let you fiddle around endlessly."

"Fine, fine, I’ll look by myself," Bai Yan said irritably.

As she spoke, she pulled a speedboat out of her spatial item and prepared to head into the ocean.

Underwater, Xiao Jinsheng watched Bai Yan’s boat fade into the distance but didn’t act rashly.

At this moment, she really wanted to kill the Insect Brain and Bai Yan for revenge.

But remembering how she had been pulled back seven years in time due to Bai Yan and the Insect Brain’s actions, another thought occurred to her.

If the Insect Brain and Bai Yan were killed, would that mean she couldn’t return to her original timeline?

From what the Insect Brain mentioned, Bai Yan could only stay here for 48 hours.

Bai Yan’s target was Shi Xie. That left 48 hours to protect the still-growing Shi Xie at all costs.

With that, Xiao Jinsheng swam into the deep sea.

The underwater world was breathtaking and radiant.

But as she dove deeper, darkness engulfed her.

Xiao Jinsheng had to take out a Fog Dispersing Lamp for illumination, only to realize how useful it actually was—waterproof, too.

The good news for now was that Bai Yan hadn’t found Shi Xie.

Of course, she herself didn’t know where Shi Xie was.

Just as Xiao Jinsheng was grappling with frustration, she felt a current ripple beside her.

Turning around cautiously, she was pleasantly surprised to see the returning Shi Xie.

Shi Xie was holding a chest, his blue eyes full of curiosity as they landed on her. He asked, "You... a female can Beastify too?"

From the moment he’d met Xiao Jinsheng, he’d wanted to ask.

Why was Xiao Jinsheng a female, yet her fair skin bore blue scales like his?

Her ears had also transformed into gorgeous, mermaid-like fins.

"Of course, I can’t Beastify!" Xiao Jinsheng laughed.

Leaning closer to Shi Xie familiarly, she looped her arm through his and teased affectionately, "Why did you run away earlier?"

"I didn’t run," Shi Xie said, his cheeks slightly red as he handed over the chest he was holding to Xiao Jinsheng.

"I didn’t know you could come underwater. This is... for you."

"Such a big chest—what’s inside?" Xiao Jinsheng asked in surprise, lifting the lid to find it filled with pearls and Star Stones.

"Sorry, this is all I have for now," Shi Xie murmured, his voice growing softer and his face full of awkwardness.

His Superpower Level wasn’t high, and he’d always been targeted by the other Beastmen undersea.

The treasures he’d managed to gather for himself were often snatched away. This chest was the only one he’d managed to keep hidden from others.

"I love it. Pearls are my favorite," Xiao Jinsheng laughed, picking up a blue pearl and asking curiously, "Did you cry out all of these pearls?"

"Do you think I’m a three-year-old? Who cries?!" Shi Xie huffed in anger.

He let out a cold snort and turned away, muttering, "I picked them up."

"A real man never sheds tears," Shi Xie mumbled under his breath.

Xiao Jinsheng heard him.

And she heard him very clearly.

She looked at the Shi Xie before her, so different from the one she knew, her eyes brimming with curiosity.

"You’re not three, but you’re not much older either," Xiao Jinsheng smirked as she poked Shi Xie’s cheek, emphasizing each word playfully, "Little! Bro! Ther!"

"You!" Shi Xie fumed. "And how old are you, anyway?"

"I’m nineteen, and you’re sixteen, so I’m older than you," Xiao Jinsheng declared smugly.

Gesturing to the chest of treasures, she added, "If you’re giving me these to thank me for saving you today, it really wasn’t necessary."

"Just call me ’big sister,’ and we’ll consider it even."

"Not a chance," Shi Xie rejected stiffly.

He turned as if to leave, heading back to his dwelling.

But noticing Xiao Jinsheng’s fascination with every fish she passed, as if she were visiting the ocean for the first time, he hesitated.

Using his superpower energy to discreetly quell the heat in his flushed cheeks, he asked, "Where’s your home? I’ll take you back."

Irritated, he added, "Don’t you have Beast Husbands? Why would they let you come to the sea alone? It’s so late—why aren’t they here to pick you up?"

"They can’t come for me. I’ll have to head back on my own," Xiao Jinsheng replied with a smile.
