Chapter 69: The Best Method

Kael got a little nervous standing before this powerful woman. Although he felt that Draven was most likely more powerful, he was still in a sealed state and also was on friendly terms with him.

This woman, on the other hand, was a complete mystery, and Kael didn’t know if her involvement with him would bring danger to him and his friends or not.

’But if she stays with us, then I’ll have solid defense against the Churches.’

He took a deep breath and thought, ’Calm down. It could also be that she herself has sealed off her memories and left the sword so she retains some of it. Does she want to forget something? No, if that was the case, then she would just make herself start a new life rather than forgetting about her journey and even be aware of her memory problems.’

He was suddenly jolted awake from his thoughts as he realized that the woman was still waiting for his answer patiently.

With a sigh, he replied, "I really don’t know you, and I’m sure it is our first meeting. Well, we can see if there’s something on me that you find familiar."

The woman thought for a second and then nodded, "Sure. But I’m sure I find you familiar rather than anything you have."

"What is your elemental affinity?" Kael asked.

"I don’t know." The woman shook her head.

"Can you use Lightning or Storm in general?" he asked, wondering if she just found his connection with Draven familiar.

After all, he didn’t have many things that could attract a Demi-God.

"Hmm, I don’t think I have ever used Storm."

Kael nodded, as he had expected it, and said, "Then, perhaps you might find me familiar because of my Ultimate Skill?"

"You have an Ultimate Skill?" The woman was surprised and then said thoughtfully, "I don’t think so, but not sure. What is your Ultimate Skill?"

Kael hesitated for a moment before replying, "It’s related to bonding with other races."

"Is it the connection you have with them?" the woman asked while pointing towards his subordinates.

’So she can even sense our connection... as expected of a Demi-God,’ Kael sighed and nodded.

"Then, no, that’s not it."

"Is it because I’m a Dragon?" Kael asked.

"It is possible," the woman muttered before shaking her head. "No, I’m sure I’ve met Dragons before, powerful ones. It’s a different feeling."

"Then, I basically have nothing on me," Kael shrugged his shoulders while thinking, ’I really only have these three things which are interlinked together, nothing else.’

Just then, his gaze landed on the katana the woman was carrying as he felt the familiarity with it once again. It was as if he had used that sword for hundreds of years.

’Heh, am I some reincarnation of some ancient God? That’s why she finds me familiar,’ Kael mocked himself before asking the woman, "Can I take a look at the sword? It is related to your memory loss for sure."

The woman didn’t think twice before raising the katana towards him, curiosity filling her bright eyes. She just warned him of something.

"Don’t unsheath it."

Kael understood her feelings and also felt pity towards her. She was a Demi-God, a being who held power just below that of gods, yet she was living such a miserable life.

What was the point of living when you couldn’t even remember your own life? Worse, you couldn’t even make a new life because you would forget that too.

It was a never-ending cycle of suffering that the woman was going through and also wandering around the countless worlds for a solution to her problem.

Kael didn’t know much about the woman, but he could guess that she had been lost to the world.

Now, she had finally found a clue to her memory loss, so she was so curious and also cooperative despite being a terrifying powerhouse.

Just when Kael had raised his hand to take the katana, a powerful, ancient voice loomed over him, filling his whole being with dread.

[I told you not to touch suspicious things just a few days ago and you already forgot? Did you sacrifice your brain to the Work God?]

Kael’s lips twitched hearing the frustrated voice of Draven in his mind. His hand stopped right before the sword, before he took it back.

[You can’t let me sleep in peace, huh.]

His lips curled upwards as he replied mentally, ’Tsk! You guessed it.’

[Heh, a brat like you can’t fool this Primordial One.]

What Kael did was pretty simple. Since he couldn’t find any solution to the current problem and he also wasn’t sure if this Demi-God really didn’t have any malicious intent, he could only rely on someone like Draven.

But he didn’t want to directly call him for various reasons, so he chose to touch this dangerous sword. If it really was very dangerous, then Draven would surely come to stop him.

Of course, he expected some form of punishment for this, but he was fine with bearing it.

On the other hand, if the sword wasn’t dangerous, then he could let Alpha take a look into its Rune Enchantments to see how it actually affected the woman’s memory.

[I really wish to rain down a few thick bolts of lightning on you. But that would alert the other Gods. Sigh, whatever. Don’t touch that sword.]

’Is it really that dangerous?’ Kael asked. ’What does it do?’

[All you need to know is that it belongs to someone of the First Epoch.]

Kael felt his soul shivering hearing that. Even a naive newbie knew that the older an artifact was, the more dangerous it would be.

Anything related to the First Epoch was dangerous even to Demi-Gods, let alone weaklings like him.

He took a deep breath and cast a deep look at the strange woman before him, ’Then, do you know who she is?’

[I don’t know about her, but I can guess the reason for her memory loss, and no, I’m not telling you.]

’Is it related to that sword?’

[Nah, on the contrary, that sword is actually keeping her away from her end. I did expect someone like her to approach you, but it’s still surprising that she managed to find you so quickly. She really is desperate.]

Kael closed his eyes and asked, ’So, can I assume that she’s not my enemy?’

[Quite the opposite. I don’t know about her, but if she is the current owner of that sword, then you can trust her. Besides, only you have what she wants, so you can use it to your advantage.]

’And what is that?’

[You... you’re the thing she wants.]

Kael’s lips twitched as he said, ’Old man, why do you sound so wrong?’

[Heh, I didn’t lie though. Her memory loss can be resolved if she stays close to you.]

’That’s all?’

[She can also suck your—]

’Oii!’

[Blood. Let me complete it, brat. I meant blood. Give her your blood occasionally and it’ll help her a lot. As for why, I’m once again not telling.]

’Old man, are you perchance the Dragon of Mischief?’ Kael rolled his eyes.

[If I was, then you would have a bomb planted in your intestine. Anyways, I’m sleeping this time, so do not disturb me unless it’s really important. I’ll let this one slide because it was important. Don’t lose that girl.]
