Laid-Back Life in Tokyo: I Really Didn't Want to Work Hard -
Chapter 50 Shinjuku Police Station
Chapter 50: Chapter 50 Shinjuku Police Station
’I’m on duty tonight, I can’t go back for now. Ask Uesugi to come to the Shinjuku Police Station to find me.’
Right at Hanamaru’s doorway, Uesugi Sakura stared at the message Hanamaru Hanabi had shown him, and returned the phone to her.
"Sigh," he sighed, "You go home first, Hanabi. I’ll visit Uncle Hiroki."
Hanamaru Hanabi was a bit worried about Uesugi Sakura:
"Uesugi-kun, be careful. I’ll ask my dad to go easy on you."
"..."
"Mm."
Uesugi Sakura shook his head helplessly, returned to his empty home, put down his schoolbag, and headed back towards the station.
Leaving the house, catching the cold night breeze, Uesugi Sakura took the Doutoku Arakawa Line at the station, transferred trains, and got off at Shinjuku San-chome.
Then he switched to the Marunouchi Line until he got off at Nishi-Shinjuku Station.
The night train was just as crowded as ever. Once outside the station, Uesugi Sakura looked at the brightly lit big city before him, breathed in some fresh air, and eased the stuffiness in his heart.
There were all sorts of pedestrians on the road. Uesugi Sakura continued forward, passing an intersection that appeared in "Your Name."
9:12:23
After half an hour, he finally arrived at the Tokyo Shinjuku Police Station.
A large building, most of the square windows above were lit up.
"Police Headquarters Shinjuku Police Station"
Uesugi Sakura pushed open the transparent glass door and walked into the Police Headquarters building.
Upon entering, he immediately saw a vending machine on the right.
Two policemen in light blue uniforms and caps were standing there, drinking canned coffee and chatting with each other.
Both of them clearly noticed Uesugi Sakura, who had just stepped into the Police Headquarters building.
One of them was Suzuki Teppei, whom he’d met that morning.
"Officer Suzuki."
Uesugi Sakura turned to greet him, considering they were acquaintances.
"You...?"
Suzuki Teppei furrowed his brows, put down the coffee by his lips, and asked Uesugi Sakura:
"Why are you here again? You were here this morning, and now again tonight? What’s going on?"
"Officer Suzuki, do you know him?" The other young policeman also looked at Uesugi Sakura, who was still in his school uniform by the door.
"Him," Suzuki Teppei glanced at Uesugi Sakura and flicked his coffee can with his finger, "this morning, he and his little girlfriend were up to some antics on the train, someone saw them.
"That person probably thought he was harassing a high school girl, so they called the station wanting us to arrest him. Coincidentally, I was patrolling in that area, and after receiving the task, I brought the two of them to the police station."
"So that’s how it is," the young policeman nodded, smiling at Uesugi Sakura, "I couldn’t tell, you’re quite bold, I wouldn’t dare to do something like that on the train."
Suzuki Teppei glanced at the young policeman beside him:
"Ishibashi, you too, you’re quite handsome, but not as bold as this kid. When are you going to learn from him? You’re 23 and still haven’t had a proper girlfriend."
"Hahaha," the young policeman scratched the back of his head sheepishly, "it’s still early, I’m only 23, just started working, there’s still time."
"You always say it’s too early, too early. By the time you become an old man, which young, energetic girls will like you? They’re all leftover from others."
"Haha."
"This is advice from your senior,"
Suzuki Teppei assumed the identity of a senior, straightened his police cap, and turned back to Uesugi Sakura to ask:
"Back to the point, why did you come here tonight?"
"I’m here to find Hanamaru Hiroki. He asked me to come to the police station." Uesugi Sakura replied from the doorway.
"Chief of Police Hanamaru!?" Suzuki Teppei was shocked, "What does he want with you?"
"It should be Sword Dao training."
"Sword Dao training? At the police station?" Suzuki Teppei suddenly thought of something, "Wait, your little girlfriend’s last name is also Hanamaru, could that little girl be the daughter of Hanamaru Hiroki?"
"Yes." Uesugi Sakura nodded in response.
Suddenly, Suzuki Teppei walked over, patted his shoulder, and laughed loudly with his coffee can in hand:
"Haha, good job, you kid, you actually managed to win over that guy’s precious daughter. You know, even now I’ve never seen what his precious daughter looks like, he guards her so tightly."
"Senior Teppei, what’s going on here?" asked the young policeman named Ishibashi, a bit bewildered.
Suzuki Teppei, with his right hand resting on Uesugi Sakura, turned to look at him;
"Ishibashi, you just came here, you don’t know yet. Hanamaru Hiroki is famous for being a daughter fanatic in our station. He’s always talking about his precious gem, not even letting us catch a glimpse."
"No way," Ishibashi Kesuke looked shocked, incredulous, "Chief of Police Hanamaru... can be like that?"
"Doesn’t it completely contradict the image you had of him?" Suzuki Teppei fully understood his feelings.
"Yes," Ishibashi Kesuke nodded quickly, "Chief of Police Hanamaru has always been serious and earnest, he has a real senior aura."
"Haha, that’s just how he is at work," Suzuki Teppei waved his hand, "Behind the scenes, he’s just a daughter fanatic. Every mission he takes, he has to look at the picture on his pocket watch first."
"Alright, anyway, there’s no task now. Ishibashi, take this kid to Hanamaru Hiroki. I’ll go out for another patrol."
"No problem, Senior Teppei." Ishibashi Kesuke nodded in agreement.
Suzuki Teppei then pushed open the glass door and exited the Police Headquarters building.
"Nice to meet you, I’m Uesugi Sakura."
"Ishibashi Kesuke," Ishibashi Kesuke glanced at the rather handsome Uesugi Sakura, "Please follow me, Chief of Police Hanamaru’s office is on the fifth floor."
"Mm."
Following this young officer into the elevator, watching the buttons jump layer by layer, he recalled the conversation between the two just now.
For some reason, Uesugi Sakura began to worry.
That incident in the morning... won’t be known to Hanamaru Hiroki, right?
With this worry, Uesugi Sakura entered the fifth floor of the Police Headquarters building and arrived at an office door.
Knock knock...
Two light knocks on the door.
"Chief of Police Hanamaru." Ishibashi Kesuke called out into the room.
"Come in."
Click...
Sitting at the desk drinking barley tea, Hanamaru Hiroki looked up at the two who entered, his expression not looking good:
"You brat, finally here huh."
Uesugi Sakura instantly noticed the change in Hanamaru Hiroki’s expression, guessing the incident had been discovered, but he hadn’t thought of what to say yet.
At this moment, it’s best to greet him first:
"Good evening, Uncle Hiroki."
"Greetings won’t do any good."
Hanamaru Hiroki, clad in his police uniform, put down the tea cup in his hand.
With a "bang," the atmosphere of the Tokyo Shinjuku Police Station’s Police Chief completely overwhelmed him with plenty of force.
Uesugi Sakura’s heart tightened.
