Chapter 47 - 47 41 A Battle with Back to the Water

47: Chapter 41: A Battle with Back to the Water 47: Chapter 41: A Battle with Back to the Water The sword in the girl’s hands, brimming with anger, brushed past Baron Dawson’s sword.

Its blade twirled a whirlwind-like pattern, swiftly bypassing resistance and striking towards his head.

Baron Dawson desperately retreated, raising his left arm to barely block the dangerous strike aimed at his face with his arm armor.

The blade grazed his cheek, leaving a shallow bloody trace.

In that instant, Baron Dawson began to regret removing his helmet and neck guard earlier to eat lamb.

The girl didn’t give him a moment to breathe after her initial miss; her stabbing blows enveloped him like a fierce storm.

The crisp sound of clashing weapons echoed instantly like ping-pong sounds of hammering, each of the girl’s thrusts as quick as a venomous snake, the sword’s tip directly targeting the enemy’s only unprotected face.

This forced Dawson to constantly retract his sword to protect his face during the close-quarters combat, frequently struggling to parry.

The height difference between him and the girl now became a disadvantage at such close range.

Olivia continued her advance unceasingly, preventing Dawson from creating any distance.

During this brief burst of combat, Leon and Azeryan had already drawn their long swords and were quickly flanking Dawson from both sides.

The attending servants and knights, just realizing what had happened, grabbed their weapons and turned around in horror to come to aid from outside.

Most attendants initially thought the two “mercenaries” rushing toward their lord were comrades.

Only the two noble knights who understood the Felu language realized that spies had infiltrated their ranks!

“Those two dressed as mercenaries are enemies!

Kill them!”

Luke, along with another knight, got stuck at the door, frantically shouting to remind those attendants who had run inside earlier.

Leon and his companion passed Dawson’s side, not trying to attack from the front.

They stopped, turned back, gripping their long swords, and simultaneously thrust at the enemy’s thighs, incompletely covered by leg armor.

Even if they couldn’t pierce the chain armor, the powerful blow was enough to wound the enemy’s thigh through the force.

Dawson, catching sight of the two suddenly “turncoat” mercenaries from the corner of his eye, cursed under his breath.

He desperately twisted his waist and bent his knees, using his body’s turn to dodge the surprise attack aimed at his vulnerable thigh’s root.

With a grating sound that set teeth on edge, Leon and Azeryan’s blades, sparking, slid across Baron Dawson’s heavy leg armor.

But this fleeting disruption was enough for Olivia to seize the opportunity they created.

Swords crossed.

A feint, which deceived the panicking Dawson, who was dealing with multiple directions.

The girl leaned back, dodging the opponent’s hastily returned strike, and perfectly shifted her sword stance.

Her slender torso violently pulled back, swinging out a “Furious Strike” accompanied by a terrifying sound of wind.

With a loud thud, the blow heavily skewed Dawson’s stance, burying her sword’s blade just inches into his neck.

Blood immediately welled from the freshly cut wound, barely not deep enough to reach into his neck thanks to the girl’s timely withdrawal of force.

Death brushed past in an instant, and Dawson was forced to kneel on one knee with a clang, shivering to a halt.

Fortunately for him, his opponent only intended to take him hostage and not behead him, otherwise, he wouldn’t have had the chance to show his trump card.

Leon and Azeryan took the opportunity to also position their sword blades at the noble Kantadar’s neck.

“Back off!” Azeryan shouted in Uria language to the nearby servants and knights.

The command was effective; the attendants, seeing their lord with swords at his throat, wisely halted.

If the lord were to die and they hadn’t protected their master, these close attendants could return home alive, but they’d be facing certain death.

Two spear knights pushed through the crowd and, seeing their Sealing Lord taken hostage, didn’t know how to proceed.

Meanwhile, Leon pressed down on his sword with one hand and deftly disarmed the noble of his knight’s sword with the other hand, taking it into his possession.

“Everybody out!” Azeryan continued to warn, “Bring three warhorses to the front, then disappear from our sight, or I’ll take his life!”

Hearing the authentic language from behind the visor, Baron Dawson chuckled, “You’ve learned Uria language well.

Who taught you?”

“Shut up, Kantadar bastard,” Azeryan snapped back, the question reminding the young man of his father who died in the siege.

“What’s your next move?

Just going to hostage me all the way and flee on horseback?…

I don’t believe you’ll release me once you’re out.” With no immediate death, Dawson’s mind raced.

“Rather than us all dying, let’s see who has more hostages.

If you don’t release me, I’ll have my men kill a villager every quarter-hour, starting with…

this girl’s father?”

As he spoke those last few words, Dawson switched to Felu language, his eyes challengingly looking at the girl.

Olivia’s expression slightly changed; she wasn’t worried about her father, who was likely already rescued by Lokhak, but about the surviving villagers.

“You’re welcome to try,” Leon interjected scornfully, understanding the challenge in Felu language.

“Me and my companion aren’t locals.

You could chop up the remaining villagers, and it wouldn’t matter to me.”

Leon smirked as he pressed down his blade, mimicking the other’s tone, and warned with utmost sincerity and seriousness, “Let me tell you, our families have already been ravaged by beasts like you from Kantadar.

We’d love to start some anatomical modifications on you right now.”
