Kitanna
Chapter 83: SHE IS TROUBLE

Chapter 83: SHE IS TROUBLE

[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: SAILING 0805 ~ GIRL’S GENERATION]

Chantal turned to look at Nix when he heard him say "trouble," and he followed where his eyes were staring at. A young woman was trying to squeeze the neck of a man twice her size.

Kitanna held the man’s neck tightly, "I keep telling you people that I am married! If my husband comes here, you won’t like the result. I’m warning you shrewd, ugly perverts," she used her free hand to point at other men who stood on the side ready to attack.

Nix sighed, his shoulders dropped a little, and his face bowed. This woman was going to be the end of him.

Chantal noticed the disappointed look on Nix’s face and pointed at the woman, then back at Nix, "You’re the husband?" Chantal shook his head; he felt pity for Nix. Because that woman really looks like a bag of trouble. The silver-haired man was not really having it easy, Chantal thought.

"I’m trying to be calm here; this is me being graceful like a lady. Don’t cross that line." Kitanna’s voice was heard again, this time her hand moved to her baldric to retrieve her sword.

"She’s not from here."

"What kind of woman behaves like that to a man?"

"She’s so uncouth."

People from the crowd continued to murmur. Nix moved from his position; it was better to get them out of this mess and ask questions later. He made his way through the crowd and came to stand in the middle.

As Kitanna noticed Nix, she let go of the man she was choking and rushed to his side.

"Husband, these men tried to touch your wife in an impolite manner. I warned them not to dare." Kitanna wrapped her hands round Nix pointing at the gang who wanted to drag her away before now.

Kitanna didn’t wait for Nix to talk; she continued, "I told you all that my husband is really scary; he won’t spare any of you. And he’s here with..." The princess noticed a young man who was now standing beside Nix.

"Brother?" Her words sounded more like a question. "My husband and...my husband’s brother are really scary men." She said finally beaming with joy as she held onto Nix tightly.

Nix raised his finger and scratched his brows lightly, "You heard my woman, she’s mine. Do you need someone’s head on the ground to prove the point?"

The gang members were well aware of who Nix was, so they carried up their member who Kitanna was almost choking to death. And they left the place. Slowly the crowd dispersed.

With them now standing alone, Kitanna tried to remove her hand from Nix, but his own grip tightened.

"T-that... I can expl-" Nix dragged her out of the place and stepped inside the inn he had left her to eat in. Moving past the tables, he dragged her into a room and locked the door.

Chantal stood outside waiting for them; it was better not to involve in lover’s quarrel. So he heard.

Inside the room, Kitanna held her hands closely with her eyes looking at her legs.

"What did I tell you?" Nix’s voice was low, but Kitanna heard the question alright, and it sent shivers down her spine.

"That I shouldn’t move from my position or talk to anyone. But I had a reason," Kitanna’s voice was nothing less than a whisper.

"Speak," Nix demanded; his patience was running thin with her constant stubbornness.

"I didn’t move from my position even though I was bored, but then a small child ran to me for help. I couldn’t say no when he called me big sister, you should have seen him, he’s so cute" the princess noticed she was diverting and she cleared her throat.

"He said some men were trying to bed her sister forcefully, so I followed him out. I left for a good cause," Kitanna raised her voice a little as if proud of her gallantry.

"Then we should make you the head vigilante," Nix deadpanned. "Where is the child?" He questioned.

Kitanna looked down again, her nails biting into her skin, "When I rushed outside with the boy, I didn’t see him again. I met with this gang who kept forcing me to take a content from their bottle, when I refused they tried to force me. I had to fight back; I clearly warned them that I was married, and they asked for proof. I told them my husband helped me button my shirt, yet they didn’t believe me. So..." Her voice trailed.

Nix continued to gaze at her intently, not because her story was false. In fact, it was what happened in Odel; children were used to lure women, and they get drugged by lecherous men who have nothing else to do with their lives. It was a norm in Odel, so the women were mostly meek because of how they have been bent to worship the male folks. It was obvious that Kitanna’s defiance angered the men’s egos.

His main anger was, how did she expect them to believe that her marriage was sealed over buttoning of a shirt.

"We are leaving," Nix spoke curtly and turned to leave.

"Did you find the swordsmith? Who is that young man with you? Is that the swordsmith? Is he some kind of immortal, he doesn’t age?" Kitanna fired her questions.

"The young man is the swordsmith’s grandson; I will give you other details on the way," Nix replied.

Outside the room, Chantal rested his back on the wall waiting for the duo when they stepped out of the room; he stood properly.

Kitanna walked straight to him, "I am Princess Kitanna Morgair. We didn’t get to greet properly," she brought her hands forward to the young man.

Chantal was taken aback because he clearly heard her call the silver hair man husband and again he didn’t expect the princess to be this crazy; his idea of princesses was living in the castle and sipping tea all day. He cleaned his palm on his shirt and accepted the handshake.

"Greetings to you Princess Kitanna, I am Chantal Wenceslaus," he bowed deeply.

Kitanna smiled, she turned to look at Nix, and a thought crossed her mind, "You have a very nice face and manly body. Must be smolthen iron," she grinned, touching his shoulder.

Chantal felt blood rush up to his face; he looked away trying to hide his blush. Nix, who was behind Kitanna, noticed the look on the young man’s face. Someone who was frowning when they met was tripping over some comment.

"I’ll go get an extra horse; both of you should wait for me at the entrance." He walked out of the place.

Kitanna’s shoulder fell, "He couldn’t even act jealous after proclaiming me his," she whispered to herself.

"What did you say Princess?" Chantal asked politely.

Kitanna turned back to face the young man, "Nothing, nothing, don’t be boring like him. You’ll enjoy the palace so much, especially if you know how to fight. Can you fight Chantal?"

"I can fight, and I will risk my life protecting you Princess Kitanna," Chantal proclaimed his loyalty. Even though his father had asked him to serve Nix, he had seen a better master and that’s on that.

"Easy there, iron boy; let’s go," Kitanna chuckled, waving for him to follow her.

As they mounted their horses to continue their journey, Kitanna turned to look at the village. If she ever ascended the throne, she would bring help to this forgotten village, she thought to herself.

"I heard Larel’s brother is a traveler; I was hoping to at least see Axilla during this journey." Kitanna murmured.

"Merchants have several routes they take, and their next destination is never known," Nix remarked. Galloping his horse, they left Odel.

.....At the other side of Odel, the crew of merchant under Cortez entered the village. Axilla, who was holding her mask tightly due to the wind, heard people gossiping about something or someone.

"That woman, she has no fear in her. She doesn’t behave like a lady, did you see how she almost strangled a man? It’s a surprise that she’s even married." One of the women told others.

Axilla smiled; this was a description of Princess Kitanna, but the difference was that the princess wasn’t married. Axilla wished to see the princess even for a moment.
