Kitanna -
Chapter 58: THE BAD SEED
Chapter 58: THE BAD SEED
[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: GOODBYE MY LOVE ~ AILEE]
Kitanna walked out of the kitchen; the side of her face, which was hit earlier, was still bleeding, but she didn’t mind.
"Princess Kitanna, your face!" Bareea, who was coming out of one of the rooms, shouted softly. She rushed to clean the wound with her handkerchief.
Kitanna was startled at the action; she moved back a little to look at the maid’s face. She smiled when she recognized her.
"Bareea is it?" Kitanna said with a warm smile.
"Yes, Princess Kitanna. I’m glad you still remember my name," Bareea responded with a bow.
Kitanna moved her hand up, trying to pack her hair into a ponytail. With the hairband between her teeth, she said, "Don’t go about calling me a princess, so you don’t get punished because of me. I’m just palace maid Kitanna." Kitanna removed the band from her teeth and casually packed her hair.
Bareea smiled; she always felt more comfortable around the princess. Even though she was a princess, she never looked down on anyone or made them feel bad for being born as commoners.
Bareea remembered what happened the night before; she contemplated whether to tell the princess or not. She opened her lips to talk, but the princess was faster.
"Bareea, see you around," Kitanna waved and started walking out of the place.
Bareea stood in the same spot, watching the retreating back of the princess. After some time, she shook her head and left the place.
Kitanna heard Bareea’s footsteps leave the passage; she stopped in her step and turned to watch where the young maid was standing before. She was aware of what Bareea wanted to talk to her about. But she didn’t want it to come to light yet.
"Just a little more time," Kitanna said under her breath. She turned to leave when she felt someone drag her by the waist and take her into one of the empty rooms.
"Nix!" Kitanna gasped.
Nix trailed his eyes to her face when he noticed the wound on her face. He frowned but didn’t let her notice.
"I see you’re already getting into fights just the first day," Nix said, dropping the hand that was on her waist.
Kitanna touched her face, then she smiled, "They ganged up on me; I had to defend myself." She shrugged her shoulder. Raising her face up, Kitanna looked at Nix unblinkingly. After he recovered, he left the palace that night, and he didn’t tell anyone who he was going to see. Kitanna frowned at the thought of Nix having a secret lover.
She cleared her throat, "I see you are back, from your romantic voyage. The moment you woke up, the first thing you did was leave the palace. You must really love your secret woman so much; you think of her even on your sick bed," Kitanna said with a frown.
Nix did not reply to the tantrum she was throwing; he knew very well that Kitanna just wanted to get him to talk, either agree or disagree that he had a lover.
"The uniform is much comfortable, right?" Nix asked, his eyes checking out the silk uniform he made ready for her instead of the uncomfortable servant wear.
Kitanna touched her gown and nodded, "it is very comfortable, I was surprised when I got it. How did you know that the uniform would be uncomfortable?" she asked.
Nix moved closer to where Kitanna stood; his eyes gazed at her slender neck, which was not properly covered. He raised his hand and pulled up the collar of the gown; then his eyes moved up to look at the innocent but feisty brown eyes that were now staring at him.
"Do you really want to know?" Nix asked. He raised an eyebrow when he noticed Kitanna wanted to press her legs together.
Nix was faster; he moved his leg to rest between her own legs. This caused Kitanna to let out an inaudible moan.
"Don’t go about with your neck open like that; you might catch a cold. I will be leaving the palace again today. It’ll be a long journey; I have to verify something. I came to let you know if you’re good without getting into troubles, in my absence. When I’m back, you’ll be the first person I’ll come to see." Nix removed his leg that was between Kitanna’s thighs, but before he did, he made sure to press it gently.
Kitanna leaned on the wall, her whole body trembling at the little contact she had with Nix. Before she could gather herself and ask him where he was going to, Nix already left the room.
"Why is he always acting like a phantom?" Kitanna said to herself. She exhaled gently and schooled her expression before stepping out of the room.
As Kitanna stepped out of the room, she bumped into a maid, but the maid hurriedly walked out without turning back; this caused Kitanna not to really get the person’s face, but the person’s back looked very familiar. She shook her head and left the place.
Inside Lady Deonisia’s room, she drank from her teacup, her eyes looking at the small birds on the tree.
"I heard she beat up the maids I sent to gang up on her," Almaria said with a frown. She had ordered a few maids to teach Kitanna a lesson, but the result she got was a disappointing one.
Deonisia turned to look at her cousin sister, "Is that all you could come up with? Don’t provoke Kitanna. You don’t fight fire with fire." The elderly woman informed.
"Then what do you suggest I do? I have to break her before these three days elapse," Almaria said helplessly. She did not understand why Deonisia was just so calm about everything. Kitanna was not someone who would sit back and watch herself humiliated; she was going to come back for them.
Deonisia smiled; she got up from her position and moved to where the stick board game was placed, "I see where your errors have been coming from; you panic a lot, Almaria." She said in a low cranky voice.
"Now listen, let me teach you the rule of this game. You don’t show all your hands; once you do, it’s game over. Kitanna is fire, and she plots. But the thing about plotting is that she needs people; she will have her knights." Lady Deonisia picked up the white sticks and arranged them carefully.
"This is Kitanna, and these are her knights, but she will need more people. What do we do? We place one of our own inside her camp, a mouse." The elderly woman chuckled.
Almaria used her hand to cover her mouth; she was amazed at her cousin’s thinking.
"Wow! Who will be the mouse? Nix?" The queen dowager asked with a smile.
Lady Deonisia stopped what she was doing and raised her face to look at Almaria, "No, not Nix. I’m not sure if he is really on our side. I want you to get me every piece of information about him, from his birth until he entered the palace; I just can’t help but feel like I have seen him before." Deonisia licked her lower lip.
Her eyes filled with mischief and evil, she poured a jar filled with black ink on the already arranged white sticks, "I have placed our little mouse in her camp already, and if my predictios are accurate, which they always are. She will soon be here with the little chips of information."
"Our little mouse have already made contact with everyone in Kitanna’s camp, including Kitanna herself. I’m sure she won’t even guess it, our seed is growing healthily." Deonisia let out a maniac laugh.
The door opened and someone stepped inside the room.
"There she is.."
