Chapter 23: SIDE TO SIDE

[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: EVERYDAY ~ARIANA GRANDE]

....."Now moan, princess"

Kitanna widened her eyes in shock. The scene in front of her was quite scandalous, but for some reason, she couldn’t fight back. His voice was compelling.

Not that she was all that innocent; Kitanna knew exactly what goes on inside rooms, having read about it in books and seen in ginseng inns. She had fantasized about it but had never been touched, not just touched, but felt this close to a man before. Her heart continued to race under her clothes. She felt her mind turning into a total mess.

"I said, moan," Nix repeated again, this time bringing his face closer.

Without knowing what came over her, Kitanna started making sounds as if she were being intimate with the man. It was a shameful thing to do, but she found herself obeying his command willingly. Her knees felt weak, and a knot grew in her lower abdomen.

"Uh...." the sound left her lips gently but was loud enough to be heard because of the quietness of the room.

"Good" His velvet voice brushed faintly on her skin. "More" Nix said looking at the girl intensely.

As they were in that compromising position, the bedroom door flew open. Man-uel stood at the entrance with two palace guards, but when he saw noticed what was happening on the bed, he turned around, facing the door.

Nix moved his hands down and spanked Kitanna on her bottom, which sent a sharp gasp from her delicate lips.

Man-uel heard this sound, feeling embarrassed and awkward, he stepped out of the room immediately.

Nix noticed that their unexpected guest had left, he turned to look at the princess. She was burning red. "Open your eyes and breath" he whispered loud enough for her to hear.

Kitanna slowly opened her eyes, but her lips will not stop trembling. Her face was flushed, she continued to look at the blue eyes that continued to stare at her.

"What has got you red, Princess?. Don’t tell me you are just all talks." Nix’s lips pulled up but he did not smile.

Kitanna shuddered as the words brushed on her pale skin. She felt her heart was going to fail soon due to excess beating.

"S-someone is waiting outside" she finally managed to speak, after breaking the gaze.

"Mm" That was the only reply she heard from Nix, as he got up from the bed. He then made his way to the other room, which served as the guest room, where he found Queen Almaria’s aide standing with his head bowed in shame.

"To what do I owe this visit, Man-uel?" Nix’s velvet voice resonated in the room as he stood there, still shirtless, his blue eyes staring at the man unblinkingly.

"I-I... hmm, I thought I saw something. Sorry to interrupt your business. I will take my leave now," Man-uel stammered, gritting his teeth in embarrassment.

"Something you saw that made you come to my quarters with two armed guards. Is it perhaps the ghost?" his tune of sarcasm was very obvious.

Man-uel did not say anything, he waved for the guards to leave but he continued to stand there. He heard from his spies that someone entered Nix’s room and he wanted to confirm, because he was suspicious of the guard.

"If you saw something, then the proper thing is to check it out, no?" Nix tilted his head, a wild look in his blue eyes.

"I see you are busy. I will come back later," Man-uel mumbled and brushed the dust off his elbow. He could not help but glance towards the room that Nix had walked out of, He already heard rumors about Nix’s relationships with the maids in the palace.

"I see you still doubt me. Let us go in and check then," Nix said, taking charge as his long strides walked back into the room.

Earlier when he was about to bath, Nix noticed movements outside his quarters, he did not have enough time to explain to Kitanna. He had to stop her from talking. Seeing that the person who had entered the room was Man-uel indicated that suspicions were growing, and Nix needed to clear any doubts.

As Nix walked back into the room, he pushed one of the candle stands, causing it to crash loudly on the floor. "Man-uel, why don’t you go in while I pick this up," he said, raising his voice subtly, ensuring that the queen’s aide would not pay too much attention to what was happening in the bedroom.

Man-uel walked right into the room, and after a few minutes, he stepped out with a look of disappointment subtly written on his face. "I’m sorry for interrupting you," he said, trying to hide his discomfort.

"I hope you did not make my companion feel shy?"

"Next time, if you’re looking to have fun with palace maids, let me know. I know the best ones," Nix smirked, and then his tone changed to a more serious one. "Do not ever come at me like that; don’t overstep your boundaries." He did not give Man-uel a chance to respond before he went back into the room.

Man-uel stood still for a moment, feeling ashamed of himself, before he slowly walked out of the room.

When Nix walked into the room, he was surprised to see the bed empty. He had caused the disturbance outside the room to alert Kitanna, so she could cover herself with the bed covers. But the bed was empty, and the black clothes she had been wearing were on the floor. Could it be? Nix thought to himself. He walked to the bath and found Kitanna hiding herself inside the drawn bath.

"You can come out now; he is gone," Nix said gently. He was still shirtless, and his blue eyes were locked on the princess.

"Not while you are watching. I have nothing underneath. I am still a princess, you know?" Kitanna raised her hand to cover herself and her cheeks flushed.

Nix raised his eyebrows slightly, before walking to pick up clean clothes, which he threw to the girl. Then he turned his face away, giving her some privacy.

Kitanna grabbed the clothes, dried herself off first, and then put on the dry shirt. She couldn’t help but notice Nix’s scent as she got dressed. When she was done, she stepped out of the bath and, as she got closer to Nix, he immediately turned without warning.

Kitanna lost her footing but did not crash to the ground; Nix held her waist tightly, and his blue eyes stared into her brown ones unblinkingly.

"Are you looking to fall, Princess?" he whispered.

"The floor is wet," Kitanna gulped.

"And so are you," Nix added, and he watched as Kitanna’s face turned pink. She quickly pulled her legs together.

"Water from your hair is causing your body to get wet again," Nix clarified. "Come sit; let me dry it for you." He let go of her waist when he was sure she could stand on her own.

When his hands left her waist, Kitanna felt cold bite into her skin. She was blushing, but she tried her best to maintain her composure. She was not a fragile girl, and these emotions rarely wavered her. Why was this man having such an effect on her? She mentally asked herself.

Nix was surprised when he asked the princess to sit, and she was not coming. He turned to see what was keeping her there, and he was too stunned to speak.

"What are you doing?" he asked gently.

Kitanna did not respond, she continue to practice martial art with his sword. Grunts and pants left her lips as she struggled to keep her feet balanced.

Nix walked to sit down as he watched the princess in amusement. "What do you think you are doing?" He asked again.

"This is how I keep myself fit, and it helps my body dry quicker," Kitanna explained, her voice sounding breathy as she continued to practice martial arts with the air.

When she was sure she was feeling better, Kitanna picked up her clothes, dressed behind the room divider, and then went to stand beside Nix, who was sipping wine from his cup.

"That’s quite a wonderful way of getting dried up. Is something bothering you?" Nix asked, tilting his head as Kitanna walked to stand beside him.

"No, I’m okay," Kitanna replied, trying her best to avoid looking at his face.

"Are you still going ahead with the plan?" Nix asked.

"Yes, I will be back at the palace soon," Kitanna grinned. She had forgotten the feelings she had experienced a few moments ago. She smiled mischievously as she remembered the grand entry she had planned for her mother.

"You are quite an actor I won’t lie" Nix smiled looking at the wine jar with so much interest.

Kitanna did something that surprised him again, she picked the cup he was sipping from and took a gulp from it, then she winked "I could not let you act alone," the evil grin spread on her small lips.
