Chapter 135: COOKING FRENZY

Chapter 135: COOKING FRENZY

[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: WHO I AM~ ANNE MARIE]

"Princess Kitanna, you can tell the maids to do it. You don’t have to stress..." Larel’s voice trailed.

Kitanna shook her head negatively, "Nix wants to eat my food. I can do it; you perhaps think I can’t handle kitchen work because I’m a princess, right? Larel, are you judging me?" The princess asked playfully, frowning.

"I’m not, but my question is why did you call me. I don’t know how to cook either? I had maids back at home that helped me." Larel sighed, looking at the princess as she added a ball of onions into the pot.

Kitanna stirred whatever it is that was in the pot, she raised her face to look at Larel, "Don’t worry yourself; you’re here to provide me with emotional support. Axilla will soon be here; I’m sure she can help out." The heat coming from the boiling pot made inside the kitchen hot; balls of sweat started forming on Kitanna’s forehead, but she still continued to stir the content in the pot.

"Princess Kita!!" Axilla rushed inside the kitchen but stopped halfway when she saw the princess wiping her face with the back of her hand. She also noticed Lady Larel standing not too close to the pot, as if the fire would jump out and chase her. Axilla bowed to the woman.

"Lady Larel, you should stop her." She whispered.

Larel shrugged her shoulder, "We’ve been on it for the past few minutes, but she insists on doing it herself. But since you’re here, I’m rest assured it would go well." The woman gave out a smile.

Axilla pointed her chest in confusion, "Since I’m here? What am I supposed to do?" This was not looking good at all, she thought to herself.

Kitanna let go of the spoon she was using to stir and turned her attention to Axilla, "Yes, you are the most important piece of this cooking activity; I need your guidance. Is not every day you’re privileged to help a princess with something." The princess grinned.

Axilla stepped back, her face looking horrified, "Can I skip the honor, I mean I’ll call the kitchen chef. You need someone more experienced." She pleaded, looking at Larel for help.

"Rubbish! Don’t be so modest. You can’t say no, or do you perhaps mean you can’t cook? If that’s the case, I’ll have you back on the road with the pelican. What’s it going to be, Axilla dear?" Kitanna’s voice was filled with mirth and sarcasm.

Axilla rubbed her temple gently, "I guess it cannot be helped, I’ll help you, but first things first. What are you stirring?" She asked.

Kitanna clapped her hands together, "I’m making hot beef soup, so I added the onions and radish first." The princess walked back to the pot, reaching out to hold the iron spoon she was using to stir but staying on the fire for too long. The spoon had heated up, making it unbearable to hold.

"Ah!" Kitanna gasped when she felt the hot sting on her palm, and this action caused her to drag the pot with its content crashing on the floor. Larel jumped, dragging the princess with her before the hot content would touch them.

"Princess, are you ok?!" Axilla rushed over to where they were, her face marred with panic.

"Princess Kitanna, let’s forget about this cooking; try next time. We just started; you might hurt yourself." Larel advised, checking if anything happened to the princess.

Kitanna, being very stubborn, took it upon her as a challenge to complete the cooking, "Never, this is just a small temptation. I’ll be fine; from today, all stirring spoons in the kingdom should be made of wood. Remind me to pass that law, see? If I didn’t enter the kitchen, how was I supposed to know about this." The princess puffed her chest out proudly.

Axilla retrieved a bowl of cold water, giving it to the princess to dip her hand inside to reduce the pain or sting caused by the hot spoon.

While Kitanna was dipping her hand, Axilla turned to look at the contents on the floor, and her face scrunched, "Princess, didn’t you slice the onions? Why is the soup black? What did you say you were making again?" The content on the floor did not look like what a human should eat; the young girl screamed in her head.

Kitanna brought her hands close to her face, checking it out for a moment, but there was no serious injury. She rubbed it on her skirt.

"Slice onions? What’s that, I added it to give flavor, then I put honey and sesame oil to give it the best taste. I’m making hot beef soup; I heard it is good for men." Kitanna smiled, thinking of how Nix would look so proud of her when he tastes her meal.

Axilla raked her hands through her hair; she turned to look at Lady Larel, "Should we tell her?" She asked, even though Kitanna was there.

Larel inhaled deeply, muttering under her breath. "Lord Nix, I hope you survive this..." When Kitanna looked at her, she gave her a sweet smile.

"Ladies, don’t be deterred...look three of us can do this...let’s move these pot aside and start again until we get it right." Kitanna tied her hair in a ponytail, raising her skirt to her knee, she tied it firmly.

Axilla and Larel looked at each other, then her, following suit to do what the princess had done.

Axilla picked up a spatula and hit on the table, like an instructor teaching her students. "First! We make the fire hot enough. Blow it!"

Kitanna got down on her knees, dragging Larel with her. They began to blow with their might, adding more fire to the wood. By the time the fire started blazing, Kitanna’s face as well as Larel’s was looking black, their hair looking like a bed nest.

"Next put the pot, add water and slice the beef into pieces." Axilla said, nodding her head.

Kitanna picked up the beef, checking it out for a moment; she began to slice it into bigger chunks before adding it inside the pot. Larel added water inside the pot and put it on fire.

"Um...add...we need to make it sweet, add rosemary, turmeric and um...maybe a little vinegar, and more halite....." Axilla didn’t complete her sentence.

"Axilla, why do I feel like you’re just guessing it. Get all the spices together; I’ll taste them and do it myself." Kitanna waved her hands for the girl to stop.

Larel didn’t buy this idea, but what did she know? She was here to give emotional support. The woman nodded her head.

After a few long hours, the meal was finally ready; Kitanna dished it out on the plate looking at it in delight.

"Wasn’t it supposed to be beef soup? I’m seeing beef jerky," Larel muttered checking out the food.

Kitanna nodded her head, "That can be solved, get me a jar of water now."

Axilla passed the water jar to the princess, who eventually added a large quantity to the meat until she was satisfied.

"Who wants to taste?" Kitanna raised the spoon that had a little content of the soup.

"We probably won’t get the taste as we spent all our time tasting the best spices for the soup. My taste bud is a mess." Larel said to the princess, and Axilla nodded in return.

"Ok, wish me luck; I’ll be going now. How do I look?" Kitanna lifted the laden that had the meal on it, staring excitedly at the two persons in the kitchen.

Larel looked at the princess from head to toe; she looked like she escaped asylum, but she didn’t want to ruin her happiness. As the princess looked very excited. So she said to her,

"You look like you have worked very hard. I’m sure Lord Nix would be so proud of you" Larel smiled genuinely.

Axilla raised her two hands, "Fighting! You got this Princess." She praised.

Kitanna nodded her head, lifting the laden she walked out of the kitchen making her way to where the White Lord stays.

Back inside the kitchen, Larel turned to look at Axilla.

"We should pray for the White Lord’s safety." The both of them nodded affirmatively.
