Kitanna -
Chapter 124: ALL I SEE
Chapter 124: ALL I SEE
[MUSIC RECOMMENDATION: KINGS AND QUEEN ~ AVA MAX]
Few days after the attack on the princess, Nix didn’t rest; he tried to locate where the fugitives might have escaped to, strengthening the fortress and boundaries of Morado, and giving more training to the guards, both the ones in the palace and the ones in the base camp.
Kitanna was mostly in her room, recovering while she had visitors who came to visit her. Some of the visitors left while some camped in her room. The few with the privilege of camping in her room never let their eyes off the young woman. They were, Clephas, Severus, Chantal, and Larel. Morning and night, they took turns staying beside the princess and only left when the White Lord came around.
Hieron focused on the administrative aspect of the palace; the plans to get the princess married were put on hold until the princess was fully recovered.
Inside Kitanna’s room, Clephas picked a grape with a chopstick and moved his hand forward to Kitanna’s mouth, saying an ’ah’ so she could part her lips and take it.
"I’m fine; I’ve told you all I’m okay. Look, my hands are perfectly fine, I can feed myself." Kitanna smiled; their behavior warmed her heart, but she wasn’t used to people doing things for her. When she was done talking, she moved closer and picked the grape Clephas was feeding her.
"I have to do this; I wasn’t there for you when this happened before I could get the news; you were receiving treatment. I’m sorry Princess Kitanna," Clephas said, dropping his shoulder.
Kitanna rubbed the man’s hand gently, "I’m not angry; I’m very much okay. And Nix made sure nothing happened to me. The physician said the wound is responding to treatment; I’ll be fine. Clephas, you know better than anyone that this is nothing to me." She grinned.
"Sssss!" Clephas hissed in disapproval, "That was in the past; now you’re a full-grown woman ready to be taken as a wife. You need to be careful." The man said in a strict tone.
Larel, who was cleaning the bath where Kitanna used, stepped inside the room, with her sleeves rolled. She nodded in approval with what Clephas had said, "Princess Kitanna, I agree with him on this. Especially when the man who wants you as his wife is possessive," she spoke the words casually.
Chantal stood up from the chair he was on and said, "You sound like you know the man already, something we need to know Lady Larel?" His eyes glinted in curiosity; he wanted to know if the man was a strong contender.
Kitanna blinked her eyes at Larel, pleading with her not to talk. And it didn’t go unnoticed by Clephas.
Larel scratched her hair, "Er.. I don’t know; all I’m saying is, who wouldn’t be possessive of such a beaut. Don’t you all agree?"
Severus and Clephas nodded in agreement, but Chantal wasn’t having it. He squinted his eyes, looking at Larel suspiciously.
"Why do I feel like you’re hiding something from all of us?" He said.
"Us? And why did you drop the hornofics with me. Huh?" She glared at the young sturdy boy.
Chantal rubbed his temple, "I thought we are now family; we’ve been sharing the same space and eating together for the past few days. We even have a common goal of taking care of one person. Isn’t that what family is? Or did you not know Lady Larel?" He teased.
"Are you trying to say I don’t... come here; I’ll teach you a lesson." Larel dropped the clothes she was holding and walked towards Chantal, who was now running away from her.
Severus and Clephas laughed, watching the two of them run around the room. Kitanna was so happy to see the people she loved joke around freely in the palace.
"The palace has become even more colorful with everyone looking cheerful." The person’s voice stopped the play between Larel and Chantal; they turned to see who it was.
"High priestess," Kitanna smiled.
"Princess Kitanna, I, Mubera, am always at your service. I was feeling bad I haven’t visited for a while, but now that I’m here, I’m feeling bad for ruining the fun." Mubera’s gaze moved to look at the former queen who always looked gloomy when Almaria was around; the young woman appeared to be even happier than before.
Larel bowed to the high priestess, going back to continue with her folding of clothes.
"How are you doing Princess?" Mubera asked, despite knowing the answer already. The princess was doing just fine.
"I’m blessed, Mubera. How are things at the shrine?" Kitanna asked.
"The heavenly king is forever wise." The elderly woman smiled; she had come to talk to Kitanna privately but she decided to leave it for another day.
Kitanna noticed the hesitation of the woman; she was about to ask her to talk when another person stepped inside. Lord Hieron, accompanied with a young man. Crown prince, Adric.
"Greetings Princess Kitanna; I’ve been looking forward to seeing you. I brought some herbs and tonics that will help you feel better; I had the maids prepare them." Adric smiled warmly, he noticed that his presence was causing slight discomfort to everyone in the room.
Hieron cleared his throat, trying to signal everyone to leave the room so they could have some privacy, but Larel and Chantal pretended to be engrossed in their work.
Clephas started removing invisible dust from Kitanna’s bed, while Severus arranged the cups on her table according to their colors.
"Thank you, Adric; I appreciate your care and effort." Kitanna returned the smile.
Adric bowed like a gentleman, "It’s sad that it was the day of our first date that the unfortunate incident took place. I’d really love it if we can continue with that when you recover." He offered, trying not to back down from chasing the princess so easily.
Hieron touched his beard slightly, "When such inauspicious occurrence happens between a man and a woman, it means the heavens are against the meeting. But I’m talking based on the old times; things have evolved maybe you young ones don’t believe in such anymore." The old man said trying not to take sides but at the same time standing in for his grandson.
"We still believe in it, Lord Hieron," Larel chipped in, her eyes still folding the clothes.
Kitanna smiled; she couldn’t believe Larel was now even more lively and liberal-minded. Even after she found out about Nix, she didn’t judge her. Rather she even shipped them the most.
As the room was in a momentarily calm state, before Adric could say another word. The door opened, and Nix stepped inside. He noticed the tensed look on everyone’s faces as if they were caught doing something wrong, and the look was even more evident on Kitanna’s face, her big brown eyes staring back at him unblinkingly.
"I’ll take my leave now. Princess, when you’re free, pay a visit to the shrine; let’s pray together." Mubera was the first to leave, and right on cue, Chantal stepped out, Clephas and Severus let go of what they had been doing and left the room.
Larel packed the clothes she was folding ever so slow inside the closet and left, Hieron didn’t know if to stay or leave. He didn’t want to hear that his grandson killed the crown prince; it’ll only result in war. He decided to trust him and following others, he left the room.
Adric noticed how everyone had stayed back when he came but left immediately the blue-eyed man came in; he couldn’t help but smile.
Nix cocked his head to the side as if asking the crown prince what was funny.
"I couldn’t help but notice a change in energy the moment you came in. All I see is the man of the house coming back to catch his woman with another man; are you both in some kind of a relationship?" Adric asked looking at both Kitanna and Nix waiting for them to deny it.
Kitanna opened her lips to talk, but Nix beat her to it.
"And if we are?" Nix retorted, his voice hard and steady.
Adric was shocked; even in his presence, the man wasn’t denying it. He had noticed that both the White Lord and the princess had feelings for each other but he took it as something fleeting. After all the people with the blood of poison would never be allowed to rule. He relaxed himself for a moment,
"Very bold..but I think is wiser if you burn the bridge now. Nobody would accept you." Adric advised.
Kitanna turned to look at Nix; she was hurt by the words that were directed to him. She already knew the consequences of them being together but she didn’t want to think about it, now it was said out loud; she was scared.
As if noticing Kitanna’s gaze on him, Nix locked his blue eye with hers brown ones and a smile that flashed and disappeared immediately passed on his lips. Before he focused on the crown prince,
"All I see is a man having complexity issues. Whether we are accepted or not shouldn’t be a problem to you; infact, history has it that the sweetest love is the forbidden one. If you don’t mind, I need some privacy to talk to my woman. Your cue to leave passed a few minutes ago." Nix jerked his head, motioning for the man to leave.
Adric felt his leg pinned to the ground; he wasn’t expecting such a comeback. Not wanting to embarrass himself any further as the princess was still in the room. He bowed.
"See you next time, Princess Kitanna" the crown prince left the room.
Kitanna pulled her hand close to her face, covering her mouth.
Nix walked towards the bed and removed her hand, "What is it?"
"I thought you were just plain... I fell in love with a savage!" Kitanna grinned, her heart bustling in joy as to the way Nix claimed her to be his woman. If she fell before, those words made her fall even harder for him.
Kitanna pulled up her body forward, leaning on Nix’s chest. The feeling to depend on someone, to let someone save you. That feeling warmed Kitanna up. Bringing even tears of joy to her eyes. She was glad she never gave up and she accepted Nix.
"All I see is a man willing to walk through hell for me." She whispered, feeling the large hands that now brushed her hair gently.
