Chapter 847: Chapter 371 Thief_2
Blood Meng wrapped an arm around the man’s neck from behind and twisted it, snapping it effortlessly. She then took his service gun.
"What are you doing?" asked Blood Meng.
Lin Wu replied discontentedly, "You’re the one who didn’t keep watch, and you have the nerve to ask that loudly. What do we do now?" It was only a matter of time before they discovered the situation in the warehouse, and surveillance would reveal it was Lin Wu and Blood Meng’s doing.
Blood Meng pulled out car keys from her pocket and stuffed them into Lin Wu’s pocket. "The car’s system has my home address, the password is six sixes. Now shoot me."
"But sister, is that really necessary? We could still fight this."
"I told you to shoot."
Lin Wu reluctantly raised her gun. Blood Meng quickly said, "Not the head, aim for the chest, I’m wearing a bulletproof vest." Are you stupid?
Lin Wu suddenly understood and asked, "How do I leave then?"
"Go out the window to the 21st floor, take the elevator to the basement level, and find my car. Remember, wait for me at home and don’t run around. I’ll be back once I’ve handled things here."
Lin Wu fired the gun, and Blood Meng collapsed. After checking Blood Meng’s vitals, Lin Wu quickly left through the window.
Descending was scarier than ascending, but Lin Wu, having committed numerous crimes, now had a thick skin, and didn’t even blink while considering a 70% chance of success.
The situation in the warehouse quickly alerted the security guards. Upon entering, they discovered three policemen dead. However, one of them was only unconscious, and removing her jacket revealed the bullet lodged in her bulletproof vest. The group immediately called an ambulance and locked down the building.
Just a minute before the lockdown was ordered, Lin Wu had already driven away from the police building in Blood Meng’s car.
"Damn, the professional documents are still in Blood Meng’s office, and worse, I don’t know which hotel I’m supposedly registered at." That woman has left me a mess to deal with.
Left with no other choice, Lin Wu located the home address in the car’s computer and followed the navigation to drive 20 kilometers to Blood Meng’s house.
Blood Meng lived in a five-story upscale apartment near the airport, with no tall buildings nearby. Lin Wu kept his head down as he rode the elevator to the fifth floor which had two apartments per landing. Using the code provided by Blood Meng, Lin Wu opened the door, and his heart finally settled as he closed it.
Meanwhile, Stone and the others were panicking, as a wanted poster of Lin Wu appeared on television. The news specifically stated that he was armed and extremely dangerous, having already killed several police officers. Police helicopters were now visible all over the city, with law enforcement checking docks, airports, and the main exits from the city.
An online post declared a one million dollar bounty on Lin Wu, put up by a big shot through a highly credible media person’s social media account.
Worse still, Lin Wu’s photo began rolling across screens at squares, malls, airports, and train stations, and the police set a $50,000 bounty.
Shadow’s team’s first reaction: We’re doomed. Second reaction: Worrying won’t help, it’s out of our hands now.
Maya: I’ve said it three times, no crimes.
Lin Meng: Wherever the devil goes, trouble follows.
Snow Egg: Sigh... he’s always the headline.
Stone: I told you, he always has the most issues.
...
Lin Wu was also online, but he wasn’t viewing the hot news or aware of his wanted status; he was checking the city map. He estimated it would take time to locate the police building and then a nearby auto hotel. Only one hotel, Handsome Hotel, fitted the criteria. Handsome Hotel was in the northeast part of Central City, about two kilometers from Round City Road.
The city was divided into five major parts: east, south, west, north, and central. Round City Road encircled these areas. Handsome Hotel was at the junction of the northeast, targeting East Bridge at 45 kilometers and North Bridge at 50 kilometers. Compared to other routes, Round City Road usually had less traffic and blockages.
However, Handsome Hotel had two levels with over 60 rooms. Trying to book online, Lin Wu found 27 vacancies, making it impossible to determine which room he was supposed to be in. Lin Wu didn’t dare make a phone call, as the risk was too great; it was better to go there and clear things up directly.
Looking up, it was nearly 1 p.m., and Blood Meng still hadn’t returned. For now, he could only wait; if Blood Meng didn’t return by 6:40 a.m. the next morning, he would have to drive there, figure out his room, and leave through a "teleportation gate."
Bored, Lin Wu began to rummage through Blood Meng’s house, reasoning that familiarity could provide benefits. First, he needed to choose some luggage. A mountaineering bag was too heavy – not the bag, but what he’d later pack in it. A suitcase was impractical – imagine running from zombies dragging a suitcase. A backpack was the best option.
There were no shoes in his size, and although there were unisex clothes, none fitted him.
While Lin Wu was rummaging, there came a knock at the door. Lin Wu drew his gun and leaned against the door, waiting quietly. The rhythmic knocking sounded again. Lin Wu didn’t remove the security chain but carefully opened the door a crack. Outside stood a man in his thirties, not very tall but muscular and looking very sharp.
Lin Wu hid his gun with one hand, not yet speaking when the man said, "Give me the car keys."
"Huh?" Shouldn’t you be asking who I am or what I’m doing here?
