Chapter 762: Chapter 346 Leopard Machine
Lin Wu hugged the wall, using stealth to move along until he reached the diamond’s left vertex, where he and Little Knife were on the lower-left edge of the diamond.
Shana said, "Don’t move." On the screen, two Frenzies were about five meters away from Lin Wu, positioned on the upper-left edge of the diamond. If there were no surveillance, they would likely come face to face as soon as someone showed their head. With a distance of 5 meters, the Frenzy, being Mutant Zombies, could easily detect Lin Wu’s stealth.
The two Frenzies turned and slowly walked back. Shana said, "Good, follow them." Lin Wu, dagger in hand, rounded the corner and silently caught up with a Frenzy with his high agility. Grabbing its neck with one hand and executing it with the dagger before carefully laying the body down. Then he quickly pursued the second Frenzy and dealt with it. It was only a pity they weren’t elite Frenzies; he only got a complete food pack and 12 pistol rounds.
"Retreat!"
Lin Wu, reacting immediately to the sound, bumped into Little Knife as he backed away and quickly fell to the left, supporting himself on the ground with his fingers, making no sound. They both returned to their original position.
Shana checked the screen and said, "Keep retreating, move diagonally back towards the bottom right. The enemy is three Frenzies, including one elite Frenzy."
Maya pointed to the screen where two Frenzies lay on the path of their retreat, and Shana immediately said, "Move diagonally up towards the right now, then switch to the upper left, quick!" They went from the original bottom left of the diamond to the upper left.
Maya pointed at the screen again, where two Frenzies were crawling towards the position of Lin Wu and Little Knife.
Shana said, "Retreat to the wall and wait for my command to turn right. You’ll see another diamond unit and two Frenzies three meters away, ignore them, and return to where you previously hunted the Frenzy. Respond if you understand."
Lin Wu pressed his earpiece, and Shana counted down, "3, 2, 1, go!"
Lin Wu and Little Knife immediately moved, indeed seeing the backs of two Frenzies. Following Shana’s orders, they didn’t go for the enticing target right in front of them but instead immediately moved to the top right position.
Shana wiped the sweat from her brow and said to Maya, "Little Knife is a bit slow in speed and reaction; he’s slightly holding us back."
Maya replied, "We won’t often encounter such dangerous situations. They can handle the Frenzies head-on, and even if they alarm nearby Frenzies, we have time to provide support." Lin Wu was enough to go alone, but if something went wrong, it would be difficult for him to escape unscathed, as he lacked the ability to fight head-on.
Snow Egg raised a question, "Isn’t the target the elite Frenzy?" The elite Frenzy was to the right; why let it go?
Maya explained, "The number of Frenzies in the hallway is fixed; the fewer there are, the safer they become. We don’t just want a few elite Frenzies; we want the entire floor."
Snow Egg remarked, "That will take a lot of time."
Maya responded, "Compared to originally having to fight through 54 floors, now we just have to clear ten floors; it’s already much better."
Under Shana’s calm command, Lin Wu and Little Knife advanced virtually without Little Knife having the chance to strike. Roughly five minutes later, Lin Wu and Little Knife reached the middle of the floor, and Shana directed, "To the right."
However, on the surveillance screen, the two were seen crouched side by side, not following the command to move right, but instead, they turned and waved at the camera. Shana said, "I see you waving, is there something I’m not seeing? One finger for yes, two fingers for no."
Lin Wu and Little Knife promptly extended one finger each.
"Titan?" Shana asked, and received two fingers in response.
"Hidden Exploding Carnage?" Again, two fingers.
Maya asked, "Zombies?" Still, two fingers.
Shana and Maya exchanged glances, "A safe?" Two fingers.
"NPC?" Two fingers.
Maya thought for a moment and asked, "Can you handle it on your own?"
Lin Wu and Little Knife looked at each other and both extended one finger together.
Maya instructed, "Take care of it, we’ll wait for you."
With that, Lin Wu and Little Knife went to the center of the four diamond buildings, where there was a rest bench and green plants. Perhaps to protect the privacy of employees during their breaks, the surveillance only captured about 10% of the scene, showing only a bench leg and half a pot of green plants. The situation was the same with the other surrounding cameras.
Shana elaborated, "The coverage of the surveillance is an arc shape, and the midpoint between the four cameras is a blind spot. I estimate the area isn’t large. If you add up all the chairs and the green zone, it’s roughly about 7 square meters."
Snow Egg inquired, "What could it be?"
"I don’t know, but as long as they can handle it, that’s fine," Maya said, instructing, "Keep an eye on the left and right for them."
"Understood," Shana said, "I’ve observed already, no Frenzies pass through this area."
...
Gazing at the slot machine in front of them, Little Knife and Lin Wu played rock-paper-scissors. Little Knife inserted ten thousand knives into the coin slot, pulled the lever, and the first icon was an assault rifle, the second a pistol. They both sighed in their hearts, hoping the third icon would be bullets.
According to the slot machine’s rules, weapon types must match exactly in all three slots to win a prize. However, bullets were different; any bullet appearance meant a random allocation of 10-20 rounds of various calibers. If two bullet icons appeared, it would yield 50-80 rounds. Three bullet icons would mean 200-300 rounds.
Unfortunately, the last icon was a revolver. At that, Little Knife got annoyed and whispered into Lin Wu’s ear, "It’s not by weapon type but by model." Three assault rifles wouldn’t do; they had to be the same model. For example, an M4 carbine and an AK-47 would be incompatible. Even if they were both carbines, one fitted with a scope would still be a no-go.
Lin Wu’s turn, he pulled the lever, setting the images spinning, one of which was a bullet. Lin Wu and Little Knife clenched their fists; spending ten thousand knives for just a dozen rounds was truly a bargain.
