While they were talking, a creature stepped out of a villa next to the jeep. Lin Ma jumped back in shock upon recognizing it was a human NPC. He was dressed in a black combat uniform adorned with the Fortress logo and wore a grey cloak on the outside. Standing next to the zombies, he turned back to ensure his iron gate was shut, pulled open the car door, got in, and drove away.

Look how well-off these NPCs are living; the area must have an abundance of resources. Logically, where there’s a large number of NPCs living, there shouldn’t be any decay. Otherwise, you’d go for a cup of coffee and end up with a mouthful of trash ash."

Lin Wu stood outside the study, reading aloud the rules posted on the door: "One, avoid making loud noises as much as possible to prevent alarming the zombies. Two, when home, keep the main door open to prevent zombies from causing random damage to the building as they search for the source of any noises they hear. Three, ensure curtains are tightly drawn before turning on lights at night. Four, no visiting other homes. Five, do not attack zombies without cause; even if a zombie invades your home, gently and politely see it out. Six, do not feed zombies, do not talk to them, and certainly have no other interactions with them."

During this time, Maya found many clues and after organizing them, she had a basic understanding of the situation in Leimeng Town.

After the appearance of virus infection in Future City, Fortress Company immediately initiated an emergency plan.

In response to the apocalyptic crisis, mainly the global nuclear threat, Fortress Company launched the Ark Project and built underground shelters in ten towns. The shelter in Leimeng Town was located 80 meters underground, right beneath the airport.

The initial purpose of the Leimeng shelter was for the continuation of humanity, but the nuclear crisis did not happen; instead, the zombie virus emerged. Thus the Leimeng shelter became the most important virus research facility for Fortress Company. However, the situation turned out worse than they expected. Soon after the shelter became operational, many people, including soldiers, were infected with the virus.
