Chapter 675: Chapter 320 Cloud Dream Tribe_2
Maya was quite willing to learn about the villagers’ way of life, so Little Fire had Shui take Maya around for a stroll. Lin Wu led their two horses and took Wai to Little Fire’s home to rest. Upon arrival at Little Fire’s residence, Lin Wu guessed there was another reason why Little Fire didn’t want them to set up their tents.
Little Fire’s home was a triangular wooden house with a dug-out kang bed, and the interior space was about seven square meters. The only piece of furniture in the house was a wardrobe. Cups and bowls were placed on the ground, creating a messy and dirty impression. Not to mention comparing it to the dorms at the System Base, even a pigsty seemed better than this place.
If they opened their tent themselves, and the villagers came to visit, many would likely be unable to hold onto their own hearts anymore.
Little Fire took out a roll of carpet from the wardrobe and spread it on the ground, "I know the conditions here are very basic, but at least you won’t be sleeping rough. Please don’t look down on it."
After chatting for a while, Little Fire started to tend to the bonfire outside, and Lin Wu helped out. Shui and Maya returned after more than an hour of walking, and Shui brought back some vegetables, corn, and fruit, which, along with dried meat, were cooked into a big pot of mishmash.
After seeing the residence, Maya shared a question with Lin Wu. Knowing his home’s poor condition, why did Little Fire still insist on having them stay overnight?
The reason explained by Shui during mealtime was that Shui wanted to leave the Cloud Dream Tribe, but her will wasn’t firm. Little Fire was inclined to stay at the Cloud Dream Tribe, but his will was also unstable. The two had a good relationship and feelings for each other. Shui hoped to find a suitable place to live and establish a base to marry Little Fire. Little Fire believed that the difficulty of Hardcore Survival Mode was too high, and leaving the Cloud Dream Tribe would mean a slim chance of survival.
So Little Fire asked Lin Wu and Maya to stay overnight as a reference, to listen to their stories and then make a decision. Shui and Little Fire wanted to know if, with their capabilities, going out to establish a base would allow them to complete the entire game. They were also considering including Xiao Bing and Yan.
At this point, Lin Wu understood. Few people in the Cloud Dream Tribe liked their current way of life. It wasn’t a game or life, but survival for the sake of survival. The Cloud Dream Tribe, as a testing field for Hardcore Mode, received special attention from Dawn. For instance, members of the Cloud Dream Tribe didn’t have to participate in the train activities, and they only had to deal with survival without the additional pressures imposed by Dawn.
Nobody liked it here, but few were willing to leave, maintaining a facade of cordiality while many actually detested the place. The only reason for not leaving was the points. Little Fire cited an old saying, "To suffer the hardest trials is to be superior to others. After Hardcore Mode, players from North City and North Town either joined the Cloud Dream Tribe or they died. There used to be two other gathering spots with around twenty players, but after the recent event, they all left Hardcore Mode."
Shui said, "The only purpose we stay here is to earn points. But with nearly a year left, I feel despair about life. Given the tribe’s conditions, we have a chance to make it to the end, but... Sister Maya, do you think we stand a chance to survive outside? How great are our chances?"
Maya didn’t judge but answered Shui’s question, "Of course there’s a chance. Looking at your resources, you can’t possibly establish a base in the city or even in a town. The best option would be to head to the mountains to find a suitable spot to set up a base with a workshop and kitchen, which should largely cater to the necessities of survival. The daily threats come from wild beasts and a small number of zombies. I don’t recommend setting up a base with Xiao Bing and Yan. Four people from two camps, while not opposing, are likely to run into disputes and are not suited for living together over a long term."
Hearing Maya’s response, Shui didn’t give a definitive answer. She had ideas but was hesitant and full of concerns. Even Lin Wu could see they lacked the resolve to act and were unlikely to leave the Cloud Dream Tribe anytime soon.
The conversation about this topic lasted quite a while, before they switched to discussing North City.
It was unclear how far Fantasy City’s North City was from Fantasy City, as the furthest Little Fire and the others had been was only the suburbs of Right County in North City, and they hadn’t even entered Right County. However, at the marketplace, Little Fire had noticed that the number of players from Southward Town in Right County was several times that of their North Town players, to which Shui corrected by saying it was at least ten times. Almost all the players in the market were from Southward Town.
Southward Town was a combination of plains and wetland terrain, expansive with few buildings. Near the Right County suburbs of Southward Town, there was a steel factory, and nearby that factory there was a commercial street and even a primary school. Nearly eighty percent of Southward Town’s players were concentrated in this area. To cope with Hardcore Mode, they had started organizing and restructuring bases.
The largest base in the steel factory area was called Thundercloud, which was made up of two bases, Thundercloud and Thunderstorm, with approximately 30 members. Shui shared a very important piece of information: both bases belonging to Thundercloud had electricity. This excited Lin Wu and Maya, as they very much wanted to charge Little Fight, but they also had reservations about facing such a large armed player community.
Little Fire said, "We’ve discussed it before; if we were to leave the Cloud Dream Tribe, we would go to the Thundercloud base. But a quarter has passed in Hardcore Mode, and we don’t have any news from Thundercloud Base, nor do we know the specifics of their situation."
Lin Wu suggested, "Let’s make a deal. If we reach Thundercloud Base and think it’s suitable for you to live, I will send you bullets through a courier service."
