Chapter 593: Chapter 290 Royal Cinema_2
Lin Wu guided Phantom around the grassland surrounding the cinema. In the final half-circuit, they picked up speed, leaving the zombies far behind. Even Frenzy could only eat their dust. When they returned to the quasi-safe point, Maya had already cleared the surrounding zombies. The two tied the reins to a tree, then stood aside to observe.
Sandstorm leisurely began to eat the planted grass and wild grass on the grounds. In contrast, Phantom, dissatisfied with the quality of the fodder, stood rigidly upright.
Seeing this, even Maya felt disheartened, "You won’t be able to keep this horse alive."
The grassland might not have been as lush and tender as waterside grass, but in Lin Ma’s opinion, it still qualified as decent fodder. Even if Phantom didn’t eat the lawn’s artificially planted grass, it ought to have eaten the wild grass that had recently sprouted.
Lin Wu sighed and walked over to stroke Phantom’s horsehead, "It’s fate, but not meant to be. I’ll have to send you home when we get back." He would have to find another mount and hoped that Phantom would betray him due to his own betrayal.
Maya said, "Try feeding it yourself."
Lin Wu crouched down, plucked a handful of grass, and shook the dirt off the roots before offering it to Phantom. Phantom showed no response. Seeing Lin Wu holding it up for a while, Phantom turned its head away. Lin Wu placed the grass on the ground, "10% hunger, it will starve to death after 18 hours." Its hunger would increase by 5% every hour.
Lin Wu said, "Let’s get to work."
The two then entered combat mode. Following the old rules, Lin Wu would move with Stealth to assassinate, while Maya swept through, and they smoothly made their way through the parking lot and into the cinema.
The cinema was fifteen meters high but only had one floor. There were four doors in the northeast, south, and west, each with a service counter selling popcorn, cola, and other goods. There were a total of nine screening rooms; the first was a drive-in cinema, with big screens on the walls outside to the northeast, south, and west, where audiences could watch free movies from their cars.
The remaining eight screening rooms consisted of three large screening rooms, four medium and small ones, and a VIP screening room. They were identified by numbers 1 to 9, indicating their size from smallest to largest.
After studying the fire evacuation plan, the system prompted: "Discovered medium-to-large base ’Royal Cinema’."
This was a system-recommended base, similar to Sawmill, open on all four sides, but the cinema had a lot of narrow corridors and changes in elevation. Its defensive capability was just as poor as Sawmill’s. At least the Sawmill had an iron fence.
"Five people could take over," Maya said, "It looks like we are exactly five people."
Lin Wu asked, "After taking over the cinema, we just pack up and leave? Leave those three behind here?"
"That’s not what I mean," Maya said. "This place is really good, flat and open on all sides. After establishing the base, we can expand the safe zone and grow crops everywhere."
Lin Wu said, "I actually think this is the most home-like base I’ve seen so far, with each building standing alone. Everyone can gather together daily and have their own privacy when they wish to be alone." Doomsday Fortress and Sawmill both lacked privacy. Aside from the dorms, there was no sense of personal space. Most importantly, all the buildings in this base were indoors. Moreover, the space outside the cinema was vast enough to hold a concert."
Maya said, "Let’s get to work!"
Lin Wu gestured for Maya to go first. First up was Hall 1, not very large, with ten regular zombies. Utilizing the narrow corridors, Maya made the zombies line up to be slaughtered one by one. After cleaning out Hall 1, Maya proceeded to Hall 2, leaving Lin Wu to scavenge for supplies.
One movie poster, First Blood. Another poster, Second Blood. Another one, Third Blood. Yet another, Fourth Blood. And one more, Fifth Blood.
Five movie posters, showing Death God returning five times.
In the VIP screening room, Lin Wu found 23 movie posters, which meant 23 films. It wasn’t that there were no movies in the future, but rather that the movies were in technology.
Apart from the movie posters, Lin Wu also found 12 shotgun shells. Why would there be shotgun shells in a screening hall? Well, this was the VIP screening hall, where the audience could bring whatever they wanted; there were not so many whys.
The leather seats were decayed, tearing easily at the slightest touch. Aside from the facilities needed to establish a base, other items no longer had any value to be dismantled. The furniture that came with the newly established base couldn’t be taken apart, so scavenging in Hall 1 came to an end.
When Lin Wu left Hall 1, Maya had begun cleaning out Hall 3.
In Hall 2, Lin Wu found a premium item: a high-end first aid medicine box. This was equivalent to a combination of high-end hemostatic bandages and high-end fracture bandages. Unfortunately, it was a consumable item that could only be used once.
Additionally, there were seven posters for the Chainsaw Killer series, from 1 to 7. This made Lin Wu incredibly curious: how did such terribly named movies manage to spawn seven installments?
Next were just posters. From halls 1 to 8, Lin Wu collected a total of 121 movie posters. Fortunately, the posters were not heavy, and Lin Wu casually stuffed them into his backpack.
With no search area in Hall 9, which was outside, Lin Wu turned back to find Maya.
Maya’s strategy for leveling up involved luring zombies out and bringing them into the narrow corridors of the cinema, then chopping them down one by one. She only dragged four to five zombies at a time, which was not very efficient. Given her current attributes and skills, coupled with the impact of hardcore zombies, five was likely the limit for Maya.
Lin Wu didn’t compete for zombies. Such experience was of no interest to him, so he headed for the open-air car park in the east gate. Maya had already lured away 80% of the zombies there, so while dealing with the remaining 20%, Lin Wu set his sights on the thirty vehicles parked in the lot.
