Chapter 530: Chapter 265: Looting
Lin Wu picked up a box of pistol bullets, poured all 25 rounds into his backpack, repacked the box to its original state, and put it back in its place: "Let’s just take some pistol bullets for today." It would be best not to take any and come back after ten days or half a month. But now that I’m here, it feels wrong not to take anything.
Shana suggested, "How about not taking the bullets from the pistol cabinet? Would that make it harder for her to notice?"
Lin Wu nodded again and again: "You have great potential to be a thief."
Shana leaned her elbow on Lin Wu’s shoulder: "Who?"
Lin Wu hinted: "I don’t know many people."
I don’t know many people. This person can be fooled. Shana suddenly realized, "Nightmare? Is this Nightmare’s warehouse, Nightmare’s safe house?"
Lin Wu denied: "I don’t know whose safe house it is."
Shana immediately said: "I don’t know either."
The two exchanged smiles, began to unpack the boxes, and poured pistol bullets into their backpacks. Shana asked, "I have a question for you?"
"How do I know the location of the safe house?"
Shana replied, "No, that’s not it," She said: "You seem to have a natural hostility toward Nightmare."
Lin Wu paused and thought for a moment: "She’s ugly."
"..." Shana was speechless: "Haven’t you thought about why?"
Lin Wu questioned, "Could it be because she is your husband? Am I jealous?"
Shana touched her face, somewhat coyly: "That probably wouldn’t be the case."
"What do you mean probably not? It’s definitely not." Lin Wu said: "Stop daydreaming and hurry up, steal something without dilly-dallying."
"Humph!" Having put the box back, Shana said: "Lin Wu, look, a Rope Roll."
Lin Wu walked over and picked up the Rope Roll, gaining information on the firearm that could fire a 30-meter rope with a hook. Lin Wu put the Rope Roll back and picked up a wrist guard-like object next to it: "Now this is a good item."
Lin Wu had once seen Nightmare use it. She fired it at a big tree; a barbed hook attached to a steel cable shot out from the wrist guard. The hook embedded into the tree, and when Nightmare pressed the button on the wrist guard, the steel cable rapidly retracted, pulling her off the ground and helping her escape the zombie siege.
Unfortunately, this item called Rope Roll only had 5 uses, and the dreaded Nightmare had used it up completely.
Shana passed by the crossbow display cabinet: "There’s a Repeating Crossbow missing here."
"Understood, we’re here to steal stuff, not to visit a museum. Get to work."
"Such little work doesn’t require the efforts of this young lady."
Lin Wu said, "You lazy girl, get to work."
"I know, I know."
Lin Wu instructed: "Sort through the firearms, take out the magazines from the junk pistols and rifles, and strip the bullets from them."
"You’re ruthless."
After ten minutes, the two had packed two bags of bullets, approximately four hundred rounds. But there was still more to do. Lin Wu flipped through the bookshelf and discovered it was all Skill Books and blueprints. Like the firearm display cabinet, the bookshelf was also a collection system. Lin Wu guessed that Nightmare would receive certain rewards upon completing a set degree of the collection.
There weren’t many advanced skill books. After discussing with Shana and considering the high likelihood of being discovered, they decided not to take any for now. They would empty the entire warehouse on their next trip. When would the next trip be? Naturally, when Nightmare died. As Nightmare’s widow, Shana would be the first to know the news of Nightmare’s death.
Theft always comes with guilty consciences. Though neither said it, both were quite worried that Nightmare might suddenly burst in. After browsing a while longer and making sure every bullet box was tidy, they pulled back from the safe house and happily headed home.
...
Talking as they walked, the sound of an engine approached, raspy like a throat plagued by a 20-year-old phlegm and hoarse in sound. The two exchanged glances and instantly left the road, jumping into the drainage ditch beside it, decisively plunging into the water without hesitation. The engine noise passed, and the two emerged from the ditch. Lin Wu launched the drone, watching as the sedan followed the road until it turned onto a path, then drove near the safe house and parked.
"It’s Nightmare." Lin Wu saw clearly, "Where did this kid hide the car?" Not a single usable vehicle was spotted from the rail track all the way to the safe house.
Shana said: "No rush, let’s observe a little longer to see if she notices the theft. If not, that’s for the best."
Lin Wu asked, "What if it’s discovered?"
Shana replied: "Then we’ll have to kill and steal the car, raid the safe house."
Lin Wu reminded: "She is your husband, remember?"
Shana covered her mouth and laughed: "Killing such a unique creature that is a husband must be fun."
Lin Wu reminded again: "You’re getting better at talking nonsense every day."
Shana paused, then began to hit Lin Wu: "It’s all your fault."
"I’m a decent person," Lin Wu said, "She’s coming out, that was fast? She must have restocked her assault rifle bullets."
Shana asked: "What did her expression look like?"
Lin Wu zoomed in for a closer look, watching Nightmare get into the car: "She doesn’t seem to have changed much. If my house was robbed, I’d rush out and look everywhere for the thief. She didn’t do that, she just got into the car, and she didn’t drive fast."
A few minutes later, Lin Wu said: "Let’s go." The two hid under a bridge on the road.
The drone followed Nightmare as she drove off the main road and onto a small path leading to the railway. She finally drove the car into a building near the railway. Then, Nightmare came out of the building and walked towards Left County along the rails.
Shana said: "I have one last question."
"What’s the question?"
Shana: "How are you going to explain the origin of the bullets to Maya?"
"Ha, who are you looking down on? Do I need to explain? Doomsday Fortress is a one-man show, and she’s the leader because I give her face."
