Chapter 484: Chapter 247 Last Three Days_2
Peanut asked, "Can you be tempted?"
Lin Wu answered, "I don’t care. As long as she doesn’t talk about feelings, I can be tempted."
Maya said, "She is, after all, the Shadow Elder, who was killed on the job. She shouldn’t be gossip at the tea table."
Lin Wu and Peanut immediately admitted their mistake, "I was wrong." If you’re wrong, admit it, it’s no big deal, everyone slips up sometimes. If someone else made a fuss, Lin Wu and Peanut would think that person was being pretentious, but Maya mentioned this in a very calm manner, without any blame, simply stating a fact.
After admitting their mistake, things became awkward, that’s just how atmosphere is. Maya was not the type to initiate topics, the two who could were in a reflective mood, and Dashuang, considering himself the least, didn’t dare to make a peep. This was a typical Maya-like statement: her words were not wrong, but they could kill a conversation dead.
Luckily, the time for the event was drawing near. Lin Wu called out, "I’m going to prepare the event supplies."
Peanut said, "Me too."
Dashuang wondered, "Should I go too?" What supplies are we preparing? But if the two big brothers were getting supplies ready, he must too.
Maya didn’t mind and simply nodded slightly without giving it much thought.
The time for the event hadn’t arrived yet, so the three squished into the warehouse, where Lin Wu first lamented, "We’re really poor."
Peanut agreed, "I feel the same." The Shadow Warehouse had every kind of junk, and to find something, it had to be categorized, and even required entering keywords to find it. In contrast, the Doomsday Warehouse was clean and tidy, displaying its contents openly.
Dashuang said, "I saw feces in the warehouse last time."
Lin Wu stifled a laugh, "Stone lost it when he saw that and asked me what I was thinking. It’s strange when you think about it, how did he know it was me who put it there?"
Peanut replied, "Normally, no one else would do such a thing."
Lin Wu said, "Wai, eh."
Peanut said, "Although Stone is fat, he’s not an idiot."
There was a turn in the situation; Su Shi said that feces and weeds could be combined to make compost, which would increase the yield of the farmland in one go. Even though Shadow had a compost maker, Shadow had two pieces of farmland. Hence, Lin Wu tearfully claimed he was breaking his heart over the base and yet was misunderstood. Angry, Stone ordered Lin Wu to go pick up more feces. Lin Wu excused himself, saying his heart was broken and he had no mood, and drifted away.
Peanut said, "Shall we take something?"
Lin Wu said, "Let’s each take two bullets."
The three took their bullets and lazily wandered around for a few minutes until the activity finally began.
The greater the anticipation, the greater the disappointment. Lin Wu had thought that floating a hundred meters in the air would feel like flying, but it was actually just a god’s eye view. There were no white clouds, no green mountains, no clear waters, just a plain terrain map. Clicking on North City displayed the map of North City. Bases eligible for swapping could be clicked; those not eligible were grayed out.
Lin Wu clicked on the Lower Right County of Fantasy City’s North City. He didn’t fly or move; instead, the bird’s-eye view of Lower Right County appeared before him. Afterwards, he could click on all the highlighted locations. These locations were divided into two types: orange for system-recommended bases and green for selectable bases, the latter covering the ground like a blanket, the former few and far between.
Lin Wu discovered a treasure, "Maya."
"What is it?"
Lin Wu said, "In the Lower Right County of Fantasy North City, there’s a large base: Commercial Street. It looks particularly beautiful."
This was a small shopping mall, laid out in a rectangle. All four sides were lined with various shops, the second floor comprised large gridded buildings, and the third floor was a rooftop. Commercial Street was exceptional as it came with various buildings, such as clinics akin to enhanced infirmaries, professional gyms akin to enhanced fitness centers, commercial toilets akin to enhanced restrooms, and a traders’ hub akin to an enhanced marketplace.
Commercial Street’s defense was relatively weak, with a wide front close to the road, making it prone to zombie hordes. It had two small back doors, leaving it susceptible to undead infiltration.
Commercial Street’s advantage was that it was very beautiful, giving a feeling of being on the bustling streets of the city.
Maya said, "I have a large base here too, an amusement park."
This was a dinosaur-themed park with a large area. However, its two watchtowers were tactically placed and, along with fences, had quite a decent defensive capability. Its key feature was various mutant buildings. For instance, a mutant infirmary, which, while unable to be upgraded, provided the benefit of recovering one medical supply a day. There was also a watchtower, which, although unable to lower threat level, had a shooting range that covered almost every angle outside the amusement park. Additionally, there was a bar that provided a certain quantity of alcoholic beverages daily for free.
Besides this, there were many large bases, like distilleries, vineyards, movie studios, resorts, and so on, each with its own specialty. But in terms of defense, Doomsday Fortress was certainly the top contender. The Sawmill, a medium-large base, had more gridded spaces than many large bases but overall could not compare to them.
There were even more medium-to-large bases like the Sawmill, of which seven were already occupied by players. The only one currently occupying a large base was the Doomsday Fortress. From this point of view, Shadow was still at the forefront. The greatest advantage of a large base was its expansion mode.
System announcements advised that the last day of spring would be Tourism Day, and after confirming whether to stay in Hardcore Mode, players could form teams and head to various tourist sites on their own. The home base would undergo a major update at this time, hence the tourism was mandatory.
Then, some Hardcore Mode instructions were released, including that on the last day of each quarter, Hardcore Mode players could apply to leave Hardcore Mode. Considering the lack of professional doctors, chefs, and engineers, most functions of the workshop, kitchen, and infirmary would be retained. Skills would be kept. Attributes would be materialized. The animal system would be improved. More details were left for players to discover on their own.
