Chapter 466: Chapter 240 Miscellaneous_3
With half a month left until Hardcore Mode started, the game activated its communication system for a two-week period, allowing everyone to enter the name of the person they wished to contact to establish voice communication. Dawn reminded players that they could seek like-minded individuals and, in the last few days of late spring, use the event rules to form teams.
Within the game, people were on edge, especially those who hadn’t decided whether to stay or found it difficult to locate an appropriate team—inevitably leading to feelings of anxiety.
In this regard, Shadow was lucky, as all of its members had defaulted to Hardcore Mode. On the other hand, Sunlight and his group encountered some issues. As soon as the communication system was launched, Sunlight and Starlight immediately made contact with Fire Dance and others. Their base had been disbanded, and currently, Fire Dance and Yellow Hair were struggling to survive in a temporary base, leading quite a challenging life.
Sunlight suggested the issue of base transfer at the end of the season, with the optimal choice being for Fire Dance and Yellow Hair to move to the nearby fire station, where having Shadow as their backer would greatly aid their survival. However, Sunlight, being too proud and indifferent to points, stated that even if they moved to the fire station base, they wouldn’t seek Shadow’s help for survival.
After all, only Stone from Shadow would give Sunlight face, and Shadow wasn’t owned by Stone alone.
The discussion on this topic had only reached halfway when a new issue arose: whether or not to stay in Hardcore Mode.
Starlight believed that the four of them, being penniless, lacked the capital to accumulate resources, making it almost impossible for them to survive independently in Hardcore Mode. Fire Dance thought there was hope for survival by finding suitable terrain in the mountains and by the sea, away from the city, living off the land and sea, although this life would be very tough.
Sunlight didn’t want to leave Hardcore Mode—he saw the resources in Left County as good and still strongly suggested relocating to the fire station. In his vision, as long as Shadow was willing to provide temporary military protection, they could take over the fire station and the Meteorological Station to accumulate resources and make a comeback.
Meanwhile, Shadow was completing the last two tasks.
One was recruitment; Shadow currently had 11 official members and a doctor needed to be added. With 12 people divided between the shipping container and the Sawmill as their bases—six in the container, sending out five people to form alliances, and using all manpower at the Sawmill for research—only one barrack needed to be constructed for the remaining six at the Sawmill.
The second task was to take over the container Fortress. Lin Ma had been running along Highway 99 over the last couple of days, and through Lin Wu’s drone observation, Maya had drawn a detailed map of the container Fortress. After returning, Maya and Shana calculated the explosives and repeatedly simulated the artillery coverage to find the best solution.
They tagged the F4 and homemade bombs with numbers. Lin Wu was to place the corresponding bombs in the designated spots according to the map and tags, to achieve the maximum killing effect.
After several meetings among the leaders, Stone agreed to sacrifice an Outpost Card and take over another firepower position. With lessons from the past, the mountaineering team members were not only Lin Wu and Maya but also Sunlight and Starlight, with Su Shi, Stone, Little Knife, and Snow Egg left on guard duty.
Little Knife and Snow Egg were left behind because Stone had given them an order—to decide on the wedding details by the end of the day, or else to register their marriage immediately and deal with the wedding later when things were clearer. Little Knife was not happy, but faced with the rare seriousness of her uncle, she could only agree. She and everyone else knew that the long-discussed wedding could not possibly be resolved in one day.
After all, every girl dreams of a perfect wedding.
