That’s the downside of simulation; the game data mentions five kilometers without a discount, but with simulation, you have to consider terrain and magnetic fields and such. Luckily drones weren’t restricted, and from a distance, they saw Shana’s squad setting up camp at the base of Husband Waiting Cliff. For players, gasoline was a non-renewable resource; apart from Invincible Base, which increased gasoline daily, or having high-level skills to increase it, once you used some, you had less.

If there was no gasoline, it meant the players’ range of activity would be reduced, and eventually, they could only be trapped in the base. Looking at the base’s pickup trucks like Overlord and others, not one was fuel-efficient.

Su Shi, who was passing by, rarely joined the discussion with the two leaders: "We need basic materials."

"Why?"

Su Shi said, "The Sawmill has gates on the northeast, southwest, and northwest sides, just gates, while other places use iron fences. Maya said, "It’s not marked, so it should belong to the North City system. From the geographical location, it looks like a commercial port. I believe that Left County River empties into the sea from here."

"Folks, we’ve only been at the Sawmill for a little over a month." Lin Wu didn’t want to move homes. To move to the Sawmill, Shadow had countless meetings and conducted four reconnaissance missions. They only stayed at the mountaintop church for six months, so the Sawmill deserved at least a year.

Stone said, "You country bumpkin know nothing. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket; always have a backup plan for the corporation."

Lin Wu retorted, "Aren’t you capitalists the ones who love leveraging the most?"

Stone said, "There’s a difference between corporations and capital. Capital is about profits—corporate survival doesn’t concern them. But a corporation must take a diversified approach to survive." For instance, a factory with a thousand workers only makes components for one major brand. Logically, if they strive for perfection, they should thrive. But what if the major brand goes under? Like Nokia, like Kodak. However, if that factory had multiple lines of business while working with Nokia, they could shift focus to other businesses when Nokia fails. They might not live as comfortably, but they’d at least survive.

Maya agreed with Stone’s view, saying, "We don’t know the extent of the simulation, nor can we predict the changes. Therefore, we must have a backup plan. Finding a base to which we can retreat and where we can settle is something we should do."

Maya indicated on the map: "Take the 99 highway for 10 kilometers and go down the ramp, you can get to North City Road, then drive another 10 plus kilometers to reach the edge of the map. Look at this railway track, it goes straight to the edge of the map, which is what I believe to be the North City port. Goods from the industrial area are transported to the port and then shipped out to the world by sea. It makes sense."

Lin Wu said, "I think taking the highway isn’t bad." As a next best option, please don’t even think about walking along the railroad tracks to the port.
