Chapter 274: Chapter 164 Alliance_3
Maya said, "Since the sickbeds are ineffective, we must consider the possibility of illness. Among these types of doctors, the only ones who can treat common diseases like colds are general practitioners and biochemists. However, general practitioners are only half as efficient as specialists, so it will waste a lot of your time, Emerald Feather."
Emerald Feather said, "No problem." Emerald Feather was a friendly girl, who spoke softly, was eager to help, and didn’t really have strong opinions of her own.
Maya asked, "Shana, what do you think?"
Shana replied, "I agree with general practitioners."
Maya said, "Good."
Stone said, "I have some different opinions..."
Maya cut in, "This isn’t your business."
Stone said, "Oh," his voice docile.
Maya apologized, "Sorry, I just don’t want to waste time. I hope to end the meeting as soon as possible and start the alliance mission."
Stone smiled at Maya, indicating he didn’t take it to heart, and said, "Alright, the meeting is over. Let’s start the alliance mission. Don’t consume the manpower of the supermarket, use the manpower of the Shadow."
Maya was puzzled, and Stone explained, "If we have 5 manpower left, other bases will seek to form alliances with us. If we only have 3 manpower left, we can justify using it to ally with the Wanderers from Right County."
Maya asked, "Are we going to form an alliance with the Wanderers?"
Stone finally found an opportunity for revenge and said, "Of course not. I can handle my business, you lead the team on the alliance mission."
...
The alliance mission sounds simple enough but can also be quite difficult. Within a time limit of 10 minutes, at least one member from the Supermarket base must deliver an emblem representing their base to a member of the Shadow base in charge of the mission. Similarly, a member from the Shadow base must deliver an emblem representing their base to a member of the Supermarket base. Both parties return to their own bases with the other’s emblem and store them in their warehouses. After 10 minutes, the system performs a check, and if both emblems are in the correct warehouses, the two bases are officially allied.
Whether it’s easy or difficult depends on factors such as the distance between the two bases, the traffic conditions, and the distribution of zombies. If it’s an apartment near the mountaintop church, it’s just a matter of going up and down the stairs. However, these apartment-based bases can only accommodate up to 3 members at most, barely enough to form alliances in pairs.
The low number of members isn’t due to a lack of players but because of the limited number of units that the base can construct. Bases recommended by the system are far better than those not recommended.
The Supermarket base assigned the emblem mission to Lin Wu, while Shadow went as a team. Shana, feeling somewhat frustrated as the fifth wheel, found some nearby zombies and practiced a set called Gale Combo intensely. But the others were even more troubled as the first alliance mission failed.
The first reason for failure: heavy snow blocked the roads and skiing wasn’t fast enough to cover the distance in 10 minutes, even if both parties only traveled half the distance, it took at least 15 minutes to go back and forth.
The second reason for failure: by day, Sentry Card was on duty, and it took some time to draw away the zombies. At night, the cold made it impossible to step outside.
The third reason for failure: skiing was slow without protection from vehicles, making it impossible to ignore the zombies on the road.
Given the current situation, it was impossible for the two bases to form an alliance. Lin Wu thought of another method, and in the second mission, Bai Ban from Shadow quickly reached one side of the Sentry Card. Lin Wu controlled a drone to carry the emblem for delivery. Since the emblem weighed just 0.01 kilograms, the drone took off successfully and completed both the delivery and the pickup smoothly.
However, Bai Ban was late returning to the Shadow base by about two minutes because of zombies blocking the way.
For the third alliance mission, Maya set up personnel along the path and carried the emblem herself. As combat personnel on the road cleared the zombies and prevented them from respawning, Maya could focus on traveling quickly. On the Supermarket side, Shana was also stationed in one area for security, and as Lin Wu estimated the distance and timing, he launched the drone, which arrived at the Sentry Card just as Maya did.
The mission was ultimately completed in the ninth minute, and the system declared the Shadow base and the Supermarket base successfully allied.
The afternoon of the successful alliance, a grand army from Shadow swept in, pillaged the library, and crowded the small bases’ passages. They chased Lin Wu and Shana, the hosts, back to their dormitory. Not content with simply occupying the base, the Shadow bandits cooked up a hotpot with the ingredients brought from their main base.
However, the situation wasn’t as rosy as they imagined, as the Supermarket base had no power. Although the firelight was bright, the lack of a comfortable place to lie down was uncomfortable, as the fire would go out once they lay down. But since they were already there, they could only stay until eight o’clock the next morning. The next day, Maya led everyone to kill Blood Zombies at the cement factory all day until evening, when Lin Wu and Shana finally sent the Shadow patrons on their way.
