Chapter 212: Chapter 142 Skiing Lesson

Given Naughty Nana’s hazardous gun skills which could harm both foes and friends, training to reinforce precision shooting was promptly put on the agenda. Lin Wu brushed off the shrieking snow with a stick, prompting Shana to start with single shots. Miraculously, with one shot Shana broke the rope suspending the screamer, dumbfounding Lin Wu on the spot for quite a while before he snapped back to reality. Looking up at the sentry post, the sentry Shana had already holstered her weapon, gazing around as if sightseeing, seemingly unconcerned by everything that had just occurred.

What else could be done? So, they went out to the road to capture another screamer. After hoisting up the new screamer, Lin Wu let Shana practice her shooting while he headed to the cement factory. After all, thanks to Shana’s morning round with the screamer, most nearby zombies were already dead, and there were very few screamers left to be attracted.

What puzzled Lin Wu was the odd density of zombies at the cement factory. Only once inside did he realize that a woman in black was mercilessly slaughtering zombies—who else could it be but Nightmare? Upon seeing Lin Wu, Nightmare hesitated but then approached him after killing a few more zombies. Lin Wu tilted his head, waiting, then Nightmare turned back to him, maintaining a posture of readiness to listen and said, "Let’s cooperate."

Lin Wu asked, "Period or question mark?"

Nightmare paused for a moment, then said, "Question mark."

"The reasons, the grounds, how do we cooperate?"

Nightmare didn’t hide anything from Lin Wu. Although she was well-equipped with high-grade weapons and plenty of ammunition, she had only one Serum needle. Nowadays, with Blood Zombies roaming around at a rate of 20% worldwide, she decided to farm Serum for safety. But one’s strength alone was limited, so she thought of cooperating with Lin Wu.

The firearm used by Nightmare was an enhanced version of the Silencer, a semi-automatic silent .22 rifle, which was also her primary weapon. This made Lin Wu wonder, "You’re not afraid of death."

With some reluctance, Nightmare admitted, "I exchanged my instance points for a Skill Book: Sharpshooter. The bullets have a powerful penetration effect, and the accuracy of all firearms is increased by 100%."

Ha ha, so that’s it, you’ve got a weak spot now, and you can’t afford to die. Lin Wu was straightforward in his response, "Deal."

The biggest difference between Nightmare and Maya was that while Maya sliced through zombies at close-range as if chopping vegetables, Nightmare took mid-close range shots, headshotting each zombie. The two quickly found a rhythm in their cooperation. Lin Wu lured a bunch of zombies, leading away the Frenzies while Nightmare intercepted and took the opportunity to loot corpses, achieving a very high efficiency. In less than an hour, they cleared most of the zombies in and around the factory and began burning the Blood Plague.

But the good times didn’t last, Nightmare stopped Lin Wu from toying with the Blood Plague again, "I’m out of bullets." Without bullets, Nightmare was as good as trash. She didn’t want to freeload in murky waters, to take advantage of Lin Wu’s position.

Nightmare was open-minded, and Lin Wu was not stingy either; he took out the six bottles of Serum he had obtained, while Nightmare presented three bottles. Lin Wu kept four bottles to himself and gave five bottles to Nightmare. Even though he didn’t like Nightmare as a person, he couldn’t deny that the cooperation process was quite comfortable. Lin Wu didn’t discuss with Nightmare who should take the five bottles. After all, this wasn’t much of a rarity for him, as Blood Ferocious Ma had a high drop rate of Serum.

"Thanks," said Nightmare, expressing gratitude before driving off.

Lin Wu swiftly ran to the factory entrance to watch the car disappear into the distance, then released the drone, which followed Nightmare to the Wilderness Farm. Nightmare arrived at a player base, exchanging a few handgun bullets and Serum, and after about fifteen minutes, the player traded several Serum needles to Nightmare.

Nightmare continued driving on. With the snow just starting to fall, navigating the wilderness had become somewhat challenging—continued snowfall, or muddy conditions after melting, would render regular cars nearly inoperable. Nightmare drove steadily westward until she reached the train tracks near the mountain range. She drove across the track and into a maintenance station.

The maintenance station wasn’t large, consisting of three single-story buildings, typically used as rest areas for railway workers for on and off shifts.

Having confirmed Nightmare’s hideout, Lin Wu retracted the drone. He had little interest in assassinating Nightmare: firstly, her equipment was all high-consumption goods, and secondly, he couldn’t find a reason to kill her.

Lin Wu entered the factory alone, prodding the Blood Plague to lure a group of Blood Plague zombies. Through the previous cooperation with Nightmare, Lin Wu believed he had the capability to solo them.

Lin Wu led the charge, drawing away the Blood Ferocious Ma before turning back to deal with it. Next, he used the Wind Stinger to kill a zombie on the flank, then the Wind Stinger to flee the horde. Maintaining the same speed as the zombies, his dual-main Agility allowed him to have a very high speed threshold, enabling him to control his speed and slowly recover stamina while running. After regaining his stamina, Lin Wu used two Wind Stingers to kill two zombies and a third Wind Stinger to break away from the horde.

In this way, relying on kiting techniques, Lin Wu disposed of a Blood Ferocious Ma and twelve Blood Zombies in three minutes. Unfortunately, there wasn’t ample time for Corpse Looting. Therefore, Lin Wu adjusted the distance between the Blood Zombies and the Blood Ferocious Ma, ensuring he could at least loot the items from the Blood Ferocious Ma.

The only problem was the respawn of zombies outside the factory area. Kiting required open space, and as soon as Lin Wu left the cement factory, the zombies in the area would respawn. If he returned, he would have to deal with these nuisances. Should he ask Shana to stay there? That wouldn’t be good—she was called Shana, not Stupid Nana.

As he was contemplating, Shana contacted Lin Wu via Bluetooth headset, "Where are you?"

"At the cement factory."

Shana replied, "Stone said we have surplus materials. He refilled my Swallowtail Darts for me and mentioned that we should head to the base, as Maya is teaching skiing."
