Lin Ma and another person packed their luggage and made it to the Signal Transmission Tower using the last 10 minutes of sunset. There were no buildings and no zombies within twenty-five meters of the tower, only a withered tree. Lin Wu climbed the straight ladder to the top of the tower first. Maya handed the Silencer back to Lin Wu, "Your ex-girlfriend."

Lin Wu turned to face due south, where, about a hundred meters away, there was a three-story building with light in one of the second-floor rooms. Maya didn’t pick up on the comment but said, "It seems they don’t think zombies are sensitive to light. They must have accomplished a mission and gleaned this information from the rescued scientists. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be lighting a fire so openly."

"That’s right, they’re not stupid."

Maya glanced at Lin Wu, "Do you recognize the guy with the dyed blond hair?"

Lin Wu looked again, "I can’t see the face clearly; I probably don’t know him."

Maya said, "This evening, three of them met me, and they left one person behind. This is somewhat surprising to me."

Maya commented offhandedly, "They have medicine."

"Right, the miracle drug." Lin Wu saw a zombie appear in the corridor on the second floor of their building, strolling towards them, about to pass their room. It was a challenging distance, but Lin Wu fired a shot, the bullet hitting the zombie’s chest. The zombie paused to look around. Lin Wu reloaded, "Missed."
