Chapter 331 - Chapter 331 Chapter 56 Unexpected
Chapter 331: Chapter 56 Unexpected… Chapter 331: Chapter 56 Unexpected… The grand hall was buzzing with excitement, filled to the brim with a boisterous crowd and melodious music. This wasn’t the Oscar ceremony, yet it buzzed with more activity than the awards show itself. Vanity Fair had held its Oscar Night party for the third time, and the previous two installments had earned it a lot of good press. Given its solid relationships within the entertainment industry and a lower barrier to entry compared to the actual awards ceremony, the party sparkled with even more star power due to the attendance of numerous industry bigwigs.
For instance, Tom Hanks and his wife, who had clinched Best Actor for a second consecutive year, were seen having a lively chat in a corner with another couple who shared his name, Tom Cruise and his wife. On the other side, Jessica Lange, the Best Actress winner, was holding a wine glass and enthusiastically chatting with her friends, evidently thrilled about having won both Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress in her career.
As for Adrian, who had just shattered the record to become the youngest Best Director in Oscar history after being the youngest nominee, he was now sitting on a couch in a booth, congratulating Laverne, the CEO of Bossworth Film Company.
“How does it feel to grab Best Picture?” Adrian asked with a smile as he adjusted his sitting position.
“Not bad,” Laverne shrugged nonchalantly, a far cry from her appearance when delivering the acceptance speech.
Forrest Gump’s win for Best Picture was a given once Adrian clinched Best Director. As mentioned earlier, unless in special circumstances, Best Director and Best Picture seldom go to different films. Moreover, given how Forrest Gump encapsulated mainstream American values so perfectly, if a sacrifice had to be made, it would only be in the Best Director category.
Since Adrian was the producer and Laverne represented the film company, they were both on stage to accept the award. Adrian knew Laverne had always wanted the company to have a film that won the Oscar for Best Picture, so he’d given her the opportunity to give the acceptance speech. At that moment, Laverne was truly excited, even though she appeared calm, but don’t forget, Adrian was right there beside her. Surprisingly, just a few minutes after the ceremony and arriving at the Vanity Fair party, Laverne seemed to have already put it out of her mind.
“It’s normal,” Laverne said, explaining upon noticing his puzzled look, “when you put your heart and soul into something for a long time, never giving up despite numerous failures and pain, all in an attempt to prove yourself with it, you feel incredibly empty once it’s done. The longer you hold onto a belief, the more intense that feeling of emptiness becomes, just like…”
“Just like those characters in films or novels who spend their entire lives pursuing a single-minded revenge and feel at a loss once they’ve accomplished it,” Adrian laughed as he chimed in.
“Um…well, yes, that does paint a more vivid picture. What I meant to say was like those who strive hard to reach the pinnacle of success,” Laverne shrugged, followed by a sigh.
“Come on, Laverne, this is just the beginning,” Adrian said, patting him on the shoulder with emphasis, “Trust me, before you retire, we’re going to snag plenty more Best Pictures.”
Of course, ‘retire’ didn’t mean pushing him out. Laverne had proven his capabilities, and with the rise of AC Media, Bossworth Film’s status had begun to decline. Those who contributed significantly should not be mistreated. Eisner left Paramount for this reason, Laverne left Paramount for this reason, and even Katzenberg left Disney last year for the same reason. That’s why Adrian had suggested to Claude that Laverne be promoted to the parent company, and Claude agreed.
“Thanks,” Laverne finally smiled, raising her glass, “I’ve always believed in you, Ed.”
After downing the drink in his glass, Adrian patted Laverne one more time and stood up to leave the booth.
If I ever achieve my own aims, would I feel the same? He suddenly wondered but quickly chuckled to himself, shaking his head, and pushed the thought to the back of his mind. Instead of dwelling on it, it would be better to find a way to reach his goals first. Of course, the reason for his reluctance to ponder further was being swarmed by a bevy of beauties as soon as he stepped out of the booth.
The youngest-ever Best Director at the Oscars, a producer with an exceptionally unique vision, and an acknowledgment from Tom Hanks during his acceptance speech–albeit subtler–that his consecutive win for Best Actor was thanks to Adrian. All these were more than enough for the actresses attending the party to clamber for his attention.
Adrian quickly sent them away; he wasn’t interested in sparring with them anymore. Since arriving at the party, he had spent most of his time exchanging pleasantries with familiar faces. Now, it was time to find his women.
But just then, another voluptuous figure barged into his arms, a charming smile emerging on her lips, and a seductive voice followed in his ear, “Hey, Mr. Big Director, where are you off to?”
“Of course, just wandering around,” Adrian replied, a departure from his earlier polite but distant tone. After quickly scanning the surroundings, he smiled unabashedly and placed his hand on the pert behind of the woman, kneading gently, “How have you been, Drew?”
“Not bad, the new script you gave me is about to start shooting. Maybe you can come by and have a look?” Drew Barrymore giggled, leaning affectionately in his arms without a care. Adrian might have been one for indulging his desires behind closed doors, but here was Drew, disregarding such discretion in his presence.
Speaking of which, it was rather interesting. Drew, having rebuilt her fame, remained audacious at certain parties. Still, she always kept a measured discretion, yet with Adrian, she didn’t mind appearing like a wanton woman.
She probably thought he liked her that way. Adrian shrugged imperceptibly. After all, he had helped her win a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress and given her plenty of good advice.
Taking Adrian’s advice, Drew had been trying her hand at comedy films for the past two years, and she’d actually been doing quite well. Recently, she even scored a role in “Batman Forever”. Besides that, she had managed to borrow money to start her own film production company but was hung up due to a lack of good scripts, which is why she had specially requested one from Adrian.
After Drew Barrymore serviced him quite satisfactorily several times, Adrian handed over the script for “Never Been Kissed” to her, a romantic comedy that was timeless. And Adrian, quite pleased with her services, even decided to invest in the film–this all happened towards the end of last year.
“I promise, but right now, there are other matters to attend to,” Adrian chuckled, squeezing her bottom firmly. He didn’t mind engaging in a few more “friendlies” with Drew or others like Cameron or Cindy. Blondes with blue eyes were always popular, and doing certain things with her baby face was quite an experience.
“Oh, you’re so heartless, Ed,” Drew said with a melodramatic tone, but her face was the epitome of seduction.
Adrian laughed and withdrew his hand, walking away into the crowd without looking back. Drew shrugged her shoulders, a mix of regret and indifference as she walked off in the other direction. If it had been any other time, he would have taken her somewhere secluded and had his way with her, but not tonight, because–
In a quiet corner of the party upstairs, the dim lighting made the hallway appear hazy. Pressed against the wall, a petite figure arched backward a near 120 degrees, her toes touching Adrian’s leather shoes, her heels lifted high, and her arms wrapped around his neck, kissing him wildly.
Adrian savored Kirsten’s soft lips and agile tongue over and over, and Kirsten reciprocated each time. It wasn’t until Adrian’s hands slid down her spine and inside her skirt, gripping her bare bottom, that her breaths became erratically heavy, and they finally parted with strings of saliva connecting them.
Even then, they kissed sporadically for a moment before Kirsten disentangled herself from Adrian’s embrace.
“I love you, Ed, I really, really love you,” the flushed girl gazed at Adrian with a dazed expression, excited since winning Best Supporting Actress that night. At the award ceremony, as the winners posed for photos, she clung to Adrian, luckily without arousing any suspicion.
“I love you too, my little fairy,” Adrian, still bent over, didn’t withdraw his hand, continuing to relish the warm tenderness of the girl’s not yet fully developed behind.
“Little fairy? I love this nickname, from now on I’ll be your little fairy,” Kirsten chuckled, her eyes, though smiling, brimmed with irresistible temptation.
“Really?” Adrian asked meaningfully, tightening his grip slightly.
“Oh… of course, I always will be,” Kirsten moaned softly, “as long as you want me to.”
Adrian fell silent, bending lower to kiss her from her cheek to her delicate neck, while retracting his hand from beneath her skirt, then he stood still, holding the girl in his embrace for a long while.
It took Kirsten a while to compose herself before she lightly coughed and pushed Adrian away.
“Sorry, Ed, I really have to go back,” the reluctance in the girl’s eyes was genuine, “You know, it was hard enough for me to come to the party, my mom won’t let me stay too long.”
“I know, it’s okay, go back,” Adrian said nonchalantly, his fingers gently brushing her cheek.
Kirsten’s eyes moved seductively, suddenly capturing his finger in her mouth when it glided past her lips, then holding his wrist she sucked on it deliberately, even flicking her little tongue around, truly tantalizing. Even someone as composed as Adrian thought for a few seconds about finding a room to take her into.
“Yes, you said you would take the time to mentor me properly,” she said in a voice rich with seduction.
Adrian smiled faintly, leaning over to whisper in her ear, playfully licking her little earlobe. Kirsten’s small frame shuddered briefly, but quickly returned to her innocent yet bewitching demeanor.
“Well then, good night.” The girl tiptoed to kiss his face lightly, then headed toward the end of the hallway.
Watching Kirsten disappear at the end of the corridor, Adrian waited silently for a moment longer before starting to walk that way himself.
The temptation of Lolita was indeed lethal, always making one think of committing a sin. The thought formed in his mind, followed by a sigh. It was a shame he had to endure a little longer, maintain the status quo; otherwise, it would be easy for things to go wrong.
One can’t act on impulse, maintaining control over one’s own desires is something every successful person must possess. With this in mind, Adrian turned his thoughts to other matters, such as Monica and Julia.
Since arriving at the party from the Holy Grand Hall, he had only seen the two women from a distance, not even a greeting exchanged–of course, at that time, he was being accosted by many women and didn’t have time to greet them, while Monica, as always, acted unsurprised and Julia, as usual, showed her annoyance.
He had decided, a threesome tonight! Walking down, Adrian chuckled to himself, let them endure the fire stoked by Kirsten. Just the thought of the times Monica and Julia had been beneath him made Adrian eager to reach the ballroom. Come to think of it, when could he get Kate and Charli together in bed again?
Just then, a svelte silhouette in a brilliant red flashed in the corner of his eye. Had Adrian not been so familiar with the figure, he might have missed it. How did she get here? Adrian wondered to himself. To be safe, he and Kirsten had been intimate on the third floor; how could she appear on the second floor?
Pausing to think for a moment, Adrian then turned from the staircase into the second floor hallway. After two turns, he saw the figure from before. Without needing to see her face, he recognized her from the fiery red one-shoulder evening gown and her exquisite figure. However, she was standing still, as if she had been there for quite some time.
After carefully choosing his words, Adrian walked up to her and asked in a surprised tone, “Hey, Nicole, what are you doing here?”
Nicole Kidman immediately turned around, looking as though she had been startled, with a pale, somewhat lost expression on her face. Her deep blue eyes carried a hint of indescribable confusion. Adrian took a deep breath and could still smell a trace of alcohol; it seemed she had drunk quite a bit, just like the last time.
A glint of excitement passed through Adrian’s eyes, and he took a few steps closer, changing to a concerned tone, “What happened?”
Nicole did not respond but simply stared at him. Her hair was up, revealing a white, swan-like neck, making her resemble a beautiful doll. As Adrian raised his eyebrows, about to speak again, Nicole beat him to it, “Can we talk?”
“Of course,” Adrian agreed without hesitation, “I’d be happy to listen.”
His voice was sincere, and something lit up in Nicole’s eyes. She immediately opened the door to the room beside them and walked in first. Adrian sensed something was amiss but couldn’t quite put his finger on what was wrong, so he followed her inside.
No sooner had he shut the door and turned around than Nicole, with a fragrant breeze, rushed at him and pinned the unprepared Adrian against the door. She then reached up to lock the door while tilting her head up to kiss him. More surprisingly, Nicole even slipped her tongue into his mouth first, initiating an eager entanglement.
Caught off guard by her unexpected ardor, Adrian took a while to regain his composure, and thus the woman took complete control, his hands instinctively embracing her body.
“Oh, my God… what’s gotten into you?” Adrian gasped after the passionate kiss had ended.
“Don’t tell me you don’t want me,” Nicole said, breathless as well. A rosy flush had spread across her pretty face, making her appear even more enticing. Looking into Adrian’s eyes filled with desire, her right hand boldly grasped him below.
Adrian inhaled sharply; even through his trousers, the direct touch ignited the desire that was already arising in him. Since she had offered herself up to him on a platter, why trouble himself with further thought? He might as well devour her first!
He then kissed Nicole’s moist lips again, and lifting her in his arms, he turned and pressed her against the wall. His hands were unapologetically exploring her graceful body. Nicole had asked a needless question; he had long desired her.
Soon, they were kissing again, tenderly this time, and after a while, Adrian carried Nicole to a chair. However, just as he was about to do something more, the sobered Nicole suddenly pushed him away and said in a cold tone, “You can leave now!” (To be continued.
