Kill to evolve: A system that demands blood -
Chapter 46: Bleeding
Chapter 46: Bleeding
Chapter 46
The alarms started again.
That low, pulsing whine that usually meant a system error—but this time, it wasn’t because of any equipment.
It was Ronan.
He stood in the center of the room, drenched in sweat, breathing like an engine running too hot. His eyes glowed with an earie red color. His fingers twitched like something inside him was trying to claw its way out.
The others stood just beyond the door, watching through the glass.
Myles stepped back from the monitor. "Something’s wrong."
"No kidding," Siena said. "His vitals are red-lining."
"I’ve seen this before..." Myles muttered. His face lost color. "He’s losing control. Just like the first time."
Dez looked at him. "First time? What do you mean?"
Myles didn’t turn, his eyes fixed on Ronan. "it happened when he was first brought for check_up. Siena, you remember right? After the last mission you guys completed together."
Siena nodded, "You refused to revealed what actually happened and how Ronan successfully escaped without alerting any guard. Can you quit hiding stuff from me, I’m his captain you know." Siena said with a raised brow, frowning slightly.
"No offense but, you little tantrum might have to wait. I need full concentration to scan this." Myles said as he activated his system ability and read through the charts.
The hum grew louder. The lights in the room flickered briefly before stabilizing.
Then Ronan looked up.
He wasn’t looking at anything. Just staring. Blank and void like something had shut off behind his eyes.
Then the chamber door clicked.
Myles had opened it to enter and check on Ronan. He wasn’t responding. And if they waited too long, he’d burn himself out—or worse.
Myles,, Mila, Dez, and Siena moved inside carefully.
At first, Ronan didn’t move. His head tilted slightly, like he was listening.
They stepped closer.
That was the mistake.
Because almost immediately, he moved like a machine.
No roar, no warning. Just a blur of motion and raw violence.
Siena barely had time to raise her arm to block before his fist slammed into her arm. The impact threw her backward like she weighed nothing. She hit the far wall and crumpled. And fucking hell, her bone had shattered. She groaned, her arms completely useless.
"What the fuck is that strength." Dez muttered, stepping backwards like he had just encountered a monster.
"Ronan, stop!" Myles shouted, activating a kinetic bind from his interface.
The bands of energy locked around Ronan’s arms, holding them in place for all of two seconds.
Then—
Crack.
The binds shattered. His body flexed once, and the force of it knocked Myles off his feet. Ronan turned and slammed his elbow down into Myles’ ribs before he hit the ground.
Myles coughed, gasped and spat out blood. His organs, that punch had shattered several organs.
"Back off!" Dez shouted, flinging a flash emitter.
It detonated at Ronan’s feet, a blinding white burst. But Ronan didn’t even blink. He just looked down at it like it was some sorth of insignificant insect trying to harm an elephant.
Then, before Dez could even realize what he was doing, Ronan stretched out his hand, and in a flash, Dez moved like something had forcefully pulled him towards Ronan, his neck straight between Ronan’s fingers, ready to Peirce in and end him instantly. But instead, Ronan threw him across the room, the force of the impact cracking the wall as Dez landed with full force.
Mila quickly activated her system, but before she could teleport, Ronan grabbed her mid-step and slammed her against the floor. Not hard enough to kill, but enough to break something. She coughed out blood, her eyes tearing from the intense pain of the impact.
Bones crunched, and she screamed.
Siena groaned from where she’d fallen, trying to crawl toward Myles.
Ronan stood over them like a predator that hadn’t finished feeding.
He wasn’t Ronan anymore.
The system had taken the wheel.
And it wanted blood.
Then—
Karla who had watched with both horror and silence observed something, even with the way he was attacking them, he hadn’t killed a single person. Maybe she could stop him.
She began to walk closer to him
She didn’t rush, she didn’t panic.
Just walked quietly, step by step, eyes locked on him.
Her expression was unreadable. Calm, almost... too calm.
"Karla!" Mila choked out. "Get back!"
"Don’t go near him!" Siena screamed. "You’ll die,"
But she kept walking.
Ronan turned slowly to face her.
His fists unclenched. Re-clenched.
He stared at her, no recognition. No confusion. Just stillness.
Karla took another step forward.
"Ronan," she said. Her voice was low but steady. "That’s enough."
No reaction.
"Whatever the system’s doing to you, you’re stronger than it. Look around you...look what you’ve done to the people who just gave their lives to save you."
Nothing. Not even a flicker in his expression.
Just silence.
Until he moved.
He didn’t lunge.
He walked.
Each step was delibrate and precise. Like a slow predator closing in on something it had already decided to destroy.
Karla stood still.
Five steps between them.
Four.
Three.
The air shimmered around Ronan’s arm. His System weapon, a darker that glowed with dark energy materialized in his hand.
Two steps.
"Karla, please—" Dez’s voice cracked. "He’s not in control. Don’t...don’t do this."
She didn’t flinch. Her eyes stayed on Ronan.
One step.
He raised his arm.
Flash.
The blade sank into her side.
Her breath hitched—sharp and sudden—as her knees buckled beneath her. Her hand snapped to the wound, blood spilling out fast. But her eyes never left his.
"Ronan fuck you. You....you actually stabbed me." She cursed, a faint green energy glowing around her as she activated her healing ability.
That was when Ronan froze.
Like time slammed into him.
His pupils dilated. The glow in his eyes flickered.
His weapon dissolved instantly.
"Karla..." His voice cracked. Weak. Confused. "What—what did I..."
He looked down at his hand. Red. Shaking. He backed up, chest heaving like he’d just surfaced from drowning.
Karla smiled, no...she smirked, satisfied, relived...."I swear, I’ll make you pay." Was all she said before she collapsed and blacked out.
