66: Chapter 66 Ancient Medusa 66: Chapter 66 Ancient Medusa The night deepened, and though this was the time when it got cool and many people would normally step out to enjoy the breeze, recent safety concerns meant no one dared to wander once it grew dark, with even shops closing early.

Inside an apartment on the sixth floor of the Jiayi Community, a middle-aged man with a pointy chin and monkey cheeks watched the pot, puffing his cheeks out and sucking them back in, forcibly swallowing the urge to vomit.

Seated opposite him was a man with mutton chop beards, who, wolfing down his food with ferocity, appeared particularly ghastly as he gobbled his meal.

Beside him lay two large iron basins, from which Mutton Chops would slice more whenever he finished what was on his plate.

“It’s like biting on a stone!” Mutton Chops wiped the grease from his lips, giving the middle-aged man a glance, “You can act like this in front of me, but don’t ever let them see you like this.”

The middle-aged man quickly agreed, pouring more wine for Mutton Chops, “Brother Zhao, when will I get to meet the other members of our Holy Sword Society?

“Yes, yes, yes!” The middle-aged man’s face glowed with excitement.

“What kind of test?

Just say it, Brother Zhao!”

“Do you know how to kill?” Brother Zhao sized him up, “We hunt players, and half of the obtained props and potions are handed over to the Holy Sword Society, the rest you can keep.

If you advance quickly, the society will focus on your development, and you’ll have access to whatever potions and props you want!”

“Brother Zhao, I’ll follow your orders to the letter!” The middle-aged man said, “Whatever you ask, I’ll do!”

“I’m full enough from the dinner,” Brother Zhao smacked his lips, “and too restless to sleep in the late evening.”

The middle-aged man got the hint and went to rummage through the drawer, pulling out a small card and about to make a call when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

He responded, and at the door was a young woman.

“I live downstairs, is there a water leak from your apartment?”

The middle-aged man knew indeed a family lived below and was about to impatiently shoo her away, but Brother Zhao said, “Isn’t this like a gift coming to our door?

Let her in.”

The middle-aged man was elated, peeking through the peephole to see only a woman with long hair standing outside.

He immediately turned the lock, but as soon as he opened the door, the woman’s hair surged like seaweed, wrapping tightly around his head!

Not only that, but the overflowing hair turned into a myriad of black snakes rushing towards Brother Zhao in the living room!

Brother Zhao grabbed a slicing knife to behead a snake lunging at him, and seeing them revert to hair upon hitting the ground, he scoffed coldly, grabbing several black snakes with one hand, coiling and tugging sharply!

Zhou Ning held onto the door frame, cutting off half of her hair with a knife, but new hair grew out quickly.

This time the twin snakes twisted together, transforming into black snakes two to three times larger than before, rapidly filling the living room.

“Disgusting as hell!” spit Brother Zhao, looking at the writhing black mass filling the room.

Far from retreating, he deftly spun the knife in his hand and leapt towards the door!

Zhou Ning was startled and quickly manipulated the black snakes to drag his feet, then swarms of snakes surged over his body, swiftly mummifying him!

Seeing the man subdued, she sighed softly, thinking that this player wasn’t as difficult to deal with as they’d said.

Although Xu Huo’s plan hadn’t called for this, she thought killing him wouldn’t likely make much difference.

The hair tightened until it could no longer contract, and the person inside still made no move.

Zhou Ning edged forward to investigate, but suddenly felt a sharp pain at her hair tips and promptly withdrew!

Her hair could turn into snakes and then it took on a life of its own, although it couldn’t petrify people like a real Medusa, any sensation could be fed back to her!

Almost at the same time as she stepped back, the hair cocoon was sliced open from the bottom up by a blade, followed by a flash of cold light, and the knife that had been in Brother Zhao’s hand stabbed toward her face!

Zhou Ning’s heart raced, she whipped her hair around the doorknob, pulling herself out from under the blade!

Brother Zhao, entwined by the newly surged black snakes, kept swinging his sword to chop them down, and upon realizing that these hairs couldn’t hurt him at all, he couldn’t help but burst into laughter, “You ordinary players really think you’re invincible just because you have a special trait, I’ll teach you a lesson today!”

As his words trailed off, the muscles in his legs bulged like stone, and he stamped three or four footprints on the ground in succession, pouncing viciously at Zhou Ning!

“Ancient Medusa!” Red light flashed in Zhou Ning’s eyes, and as she lifted her head, her figure vanished on the spot, replaced by a giant python with its mouth open, squeezed into the narrow corridor waiting for someone to jump into its mouth!

Though he was not afraid of the hair snakes’ attacks, the sudden appearance of a giant python before his eyes made Brother Zhao instinctively halt his attack.

He grabbed the door of an open shoe cabinet and kicked the middle-aged man who was stuck on one side over as a shield, retreating rapidly!

What the hell is this?!

In his moment of shock and doubt, Yuan Yao, who had already entered the room and was waiting for an opportunity, pounced from behind and stabbed his knife into Brother Zhao’s lower back!

Brother Zhao, caught off guard, bulged his eyes, and while being stabbed, turned to grab Yuan Yao by the throat!

“Who are you people?!”

The black snakes attacked from behind again, wrapping around his hands, feet, and waist, dragging him backward.

However, he did not let go, seemingly intent on strangling Yuan Yao to death!

Zhou Ning was about to step forward to help when the middle-aged man who had broken free from the hair attacked her, shouting, “Brother Zhao, run!

These people must be after the Holy Sword Society!”

Zhou Ning, frustrated, controlled her hair to lift the man up and hang him in midair.

She directed even more black snakes to entwine around Brother Zhao’s neck, but suddenly, he produced a machete, half the length of his arm, from his hand and casually swung it to cut all the black snakes.

“Don’t think you’re the only ones with items!”

Zhou Ning saw him swinging the machete at Yuan Yao.

Her heart nearly leaped into her throat, but in the nick of time, Huang Junjie jumped in through the window.

He grabbed a potted plant to deflect the machete, and a bamboo sword flew out from his sleeve, cutting off Brother Zhao’s wrist!

Yuan Yao escaped, and Brother Zhao stumbled back two steps.

Seeing Huang Junjie looming menacingly, his expression changed slightly, and with a kick, he flung him out of the broken window and made his escape!

Huang Junjie knocked over a sofa but wasn’t injured much, whereas Yuan Yao’s throat was bruised from being choked.

He coughed and said, “Damn, that’s inhuman, slashing across the waist as if nothing’s wrong!”

Zhou Ning helped him up, while Huang Junjie checked the living room and balcony’s health points before speaking into the headset, “He went out, got stabbed in the lower back, and his right hand’s tendons should be cut, not a severe injury.

He has a knife, be careful.”

“Got it.” Inside a taxi outside Jiayi Community, Xu Huo replied and said to Hu Wenhao and the other two, who were already lying in wait outside the community, “Make your move.”

After getting a response, he started the car and headed toward the construction site.
