Journey to the West: Tang Monk Conquers Everything -
Chapter 950 - 950: Tingdi Joins the Team (7th Update)
At present, there are three major events in the Three Realms that have attracted countless attention.
First, naturally it's the matter of the Westward Journey catastrophe. The existence of this immeasurable kalpa, regardless of the time, is always an important matter, thus the Scripture Seeking Team still remains the focus of attention for various great entities.
Even if there is no desire to gain anything from this great calamity, at least the dynamics of the Journey to the West Team should be observed carefully, lest accidentally fall victim to this massacre. Ancestor Minghe's mindset is somewhat like this.
Next is the destruction of the Eastern Temple, countless demons and ghosts appearing out of nowhere, and even the news of Jiang Ziya's emergence.
The host of the Deification catastrophe, Jiang Ziya, was actually imprisoned underground in the Eastern Temple's prison? This matter startled many.
Of course, the emergence of myriad demons and ghosts stirred the compassionate heart of Master Xuanzang, who solemnly vowed not to continue his westward journey for scriptures until the threat of these demons and ghosts is eliminated.
This news is undoubtedly the most attention-grabbing matter at present.
Finally, is the mysterious entity.
First, they engaged in a great battle with Randeng Buddha in the Ming Sect, leading him to flee in defeat; then they raided the Eastern Temple, almost killing Maitreya Buddha, eventually escaping the Heavenly Net with Jiang Ziya under the siege of the Great Jade Emperor and Tathagata. The mysterious entity's power is astonishing.
Of course, because the mysterious entity released countless demons, they also suffered heavenly retribution, which is a very noteworthy point.
Three major events, two of them are related to Master Xuanzang.
Indeed, the Journey to the West for scriptures team is truly the center of destiny in heaven and earth nowadays.
...
Jiang Liu naturally didn't pay attention to the thoughts of various immortals and Buddhas. After making his vow, Jiang Liu found a legitimate reason to continue delaying time, seemingly losing in the east but gaining in the west.
Originally, Master Xuanzang had voluntarily entered the Illusionary Demon Cave to contemplate his mistakes. At this moment, Master Xuanzang suddenly came out of the Illusionary Demon Cave on his own?
In this manner, he should have been punished for escaping from prison.
However, after Master Xuanzang made his vow, no one came to criticize him for this anymore.
Escaping prison, but for the sake of this world's beings, and the vow made has received a response from cosmic thunder sounds, naturally, he cannot be criticized at this time.
"Wukong, you all wait for a while. At this moment, your teacher must go to the Netherworld to make a visit…" After making his vow, Jiang Liu did not rush to continue his journey, but spoke to Sun Wukong and the others.
"Alright, Master!" Hearing Jiang Liu's words, Sun Wukong and the others did not ask much, just nodded and said.
After greeting each other, Jiang Liu's figure sank down and directly reached the Netherworld.
Then, he headed straight to Ksitigarbha Cave.
"Greetings, Master Xuanzang…" At the entrance of Ksitigarbha Cave, the young novice monk, seeing Jiang Liu approaching, greeted proactively. His appearance was very enthusiastic, and there was a hint of admiration in his eyes as he looked at Jiang Liu.
"Courteous greetings!" Jiang Liu, with a modest and courteous demeanor, returned the greeting to the novice monk.
However, before Jiang Liu could ask if he could enter Ksitigarbha Cave, the novice monk invited him in proactively, saying, "Master, Bodhisattva is already inside waiting for you, please come in quickly!"
"Thank you!" Slightly nodding, Jiang Liu thanked and then entered Ksitigarbha Cave.
However, Jiang Liu was secretly puzzled in his heart, as today this novice monk seemed much more enthusiastic towards him than usual.
Of course, even though this thought flashed through his mind, Jiang Liu did not delve into it.
After entering Ksitigarbha Cave, he could see Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva still sitting atop his lotus platform, and beside him lay a divine beast, which was his Tingdi.
"Bodhisattva…" Looking at Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, Jiang Liu proactively greeted.
Although many Bodhisattvas and Buddhas had perished at Jiang Liu's hands throughout the journey, he still respected Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
"For what reason have you come, Xuanzang?" Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, with a hint of a smile on his face, opened his mouth to ask Jiang Liu.
"Bodhisattva, disciple comes this time with a request…" Jiang Liu, still humble in demeanor, spoke to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
"Now, countless demons have escaped from the underground prison of the Eastern Temple, wreaking havoc in the mortal world. Disciple has made a vow that if the harm caused by these demons and ghosts cannot be eliminated, I will not continue my westward journey, thus today disciple comes to ask Bodhisattva to lend the Tingdi Beast for assistance…"
Jiang Liu did not mean to beat around the bush, directly stating his request.
"Amitabha, Xuanzang's action truly shows great compassion, the old monk…" Hearing Jiang Liu's words, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva nodded and said, showing a very appreciative attitude towards Jiang Liu.
Poof…
However, before Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva could finish speaking, the Tingdi Beast beside him suddenly made a peculiar sound.
It sounded a bit like sneezing, but more like failing to suppress laughter.
Jiang Liu's gaze fell on the Tingdi Beast, and his expression was somewhat awkward.
Others might think that my vow to eradicate these demons and ghosts disturbing the world is due to compassion.
However, Tingdi definitely knows that the reason I do this is because those demons were released by me, and as a result, I suffered heavenly retribution, not at all due to any compassionate heart.
Regarding the Tingdi Beast's uncontrollable laugh, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's eyebrows slightly shook, yet he paid no attention, as if he hadn't heard at all.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's gaze still landed on Jiang Liu, saying, "Since you, Xuanzang, have such a compassionate heart, this old monk cannot decline to exert whatever small power he can!"
With those words, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva glanced at the Tingdi Beast and said, "Tingdi, given this circumstance, you should accompany Xuanzang. If you can assist Xuanzang in fulfilling this vow, you will also plant a seed of virtue!"
"As you command, Bodhisattva!" Hearing Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's words, Tingdi Beast nodded and said, his voice very earnest, as if it wasn't him who nearly couldn't suppress a laugh just now.
"Thus, thank you, divine beast!" The formalities needed doing nonetheless, Jiang Liu spoke to Tingdi.
His request was accepted by Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, which was certainly favorable for Jiang Liu.
Busy with fulfilling his vow, Jiang Liu had no mind for unnecessary words and, after exchanging farewell with Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, left the Netherworld with the Tingdi Beast.
Xuanzang made a vow to eliminate those demons and ghosts, drawing the attention of countless people naturally. Many eyes were fixed on him.
Curious to see what Xuanzang would do after making this vow.
Upon discovering Xuanzang went to the Netherworld to seek Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, many were privately surprised, wondering if he was seeking help from Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
After all, he's someone with an iron face and principled demeanor; without a good reason, would Ksitigarbha be willing to assist him?
But when Jiang Liu left the Netherworld, even taking with him Tingdi under Ksitigarbha's seat, many had an epiphany.
He sought out Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva to borrow the Tingdi Beast.
To be fair, this choice is indeed wise. So many demons and ghosts scattered and fled, blending into the world. Whether the Journey to the West Pilgrimage Team can eradicate these demons, naturally everyone still trusts in their strength.
However, the hardest part is how to locate all these scattered demons and ghosts, isn't it?
Now, with the assistance of the Tingdi Divine Beast, it's much easier to find them.
After all, the Tingdi Divine Beast under Ksitigarbha's seat can hear almost everything, and anyone with some insight would know about this ability.
"May I ask, divine beast, what's the general distribution of those demons and ghosts who escaped from beneath Eastern Temple now?" With the task completed, related to restoring his own level, Jiang Liu was naturally full of enthusiasm, and upon arriving in the Mortal World, he directly asked the Tingdi Beast.
Upon Jiang Liu's inquiry, Tingdi Beast's form changed and directly transformed into a Taoist Body, then Tingdi pulled out a map.
"This is!?" Seeing Tingdi pull out the map, Jiang Liu's expression slightly changed, and he asked.
"Actually, right when those demons and ghosts escaped from Eastern Temple, Bodhisattva instructed me to monitor these escaped demons and ghosts, so I've marked their general distribution on the map!" Seeing Jiang Liu's inquisitive look, Tingdi explained.
"I see!" Jiang Liu nodded with sudden realization.
Having interacted with Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva not just once or twice, Jiang Liu knows that Tingdi Beast seems to always be paying attention to the matters concerning the Journey to the West Pilgrimage Team.
Thus, knowing his current situation and even preparing in advance isn't surprising.
"Furthermore…"
After Jiang Liu nodded, Tingdi Beast continued, "The emergence of these demons indeed made the world more chaotic, so the Jade Emperor has dispatched many Divine Generals to eliminate these demons! Consequently, the number of marked demons and ghosts should be decreasing!"
"Alright, understood!" Hearing this, Jiang Liu nodded, feeling it was reasonable.
As the ruler of the three realms, the Jade Emperor taking action under the current circumstances is only expected, isn't it? After all, he is the master of the three realms.
"Ah, wait…"
However, after nodding, Jiang Liu's heart moved slightly, and he suddenly looked at Tingdi, saying, "You mean? The Jade Emperor sent many Divine Generals down? Then, what about Buddhism?"
"Buddhism naturally also sent some Vajras and Arhats down…" Hearing Jiang Liu's inquiry, Tingdi answered casually.
Just some Vajras and Arhats?
Jiang Liu's mouth slightly twitched.
