Chapter 70 Tai Yi Zhenren
Chapter 70: Chapter 70 Tai Yi Zhenren
[You have received a new suggestion: When opposing the Chan School, be even more shameless and faceless than its disciples to gain the upper hand. Completing the suggestion will reward a Fifth-Rank Treasure Box.]
Sun Wukong’s mind buzzed with the notification again, but he had no time to heed it, filled with anger.
"This bunch of filthy scum, truly shameless indeed!" he muttered, scratching his ears and cheeks, feeling entirely aggrieved by the situation.
He had been aware of the situation with Tu Xing Sun long ago, but it was the first time he heard that when Tu Xing Sun had forced himself on Deng Chanyu, two disciples of the Chan School were standing guard outside.
The disciples of the Chan School, always portraying themselves as paragons of righteousness and nobility, proved to be of such low character.
He then looked at the following replies.
Listening-to-Rain-Daoist: "No matter when, shamelessness is the key to victory. If others are shameless and you hold on to decency, you’re bound to suffer losses."
Autumn-Maple-Leaf: "Sigh, the shamelessness of the Chan School is one thing, but it’s also because our Cutting School lacks assertiveness. Talking about brotherhood and always being tender-hearted, if it were me, I’d have gone on a killing spree,
starting with a great advantage but ending up with the Cutting School existing in name only, with even our boss, the leader of Tong Tian, nowhere to be found."
Only Money Left in Poverty: "Tai Yi Zhenren deserves a proper talking-to. Our TV dramas and animations have beautified him, but in reality, he is a detestable shameless person.
Other disciples of the Chan School still pretend to care about face, but he has none whatsoever.
For starters, taking Ne Zha as his disciple was just to shield himself from disasters during the Divine Enthronement calamity; he never had good intentions.
The Twelve Golden Immortals faced tribulations due to worldly attachments and would face killing calamities. Yuan Shi Tian Zun advised them to take disciples to shield themselves from the disasters, hence people like Yang Jian, Huang Tianhua, Jin Zha, Mu Zha, Yang Ren, Han Dulong, and the like were all cannon fodder and scapegoats.
Secondly, after taking disciples, he never taught Ne Zha to be good, but instead encouraged him to cause trouble multiple times.
Of course, he himself was not a good person to begin with.
Think about it, Ne Zha, a child who had barely been born for long, even if he was extraordinarily intelligent, how could he understand good and evil?
Yet Tai Yi Zhenren gave him incredibly powerful magical weapons without any constraints, and then Ne Zha went on to kill Ao Bing and ripped off his tendons.
Logically, if a child makes trouble, the parents should apologize, but Tai Yi Zhenren made things worse, sending Ne Zha to beat up the Sea Dragon King.
Afterwards, Ne Zha shot and killed Shi Ji’s child, and Tai Yi Zhenren went even further, directly killing Shi Ji himself.
Is this doting? This is simply harming Ne Zha!"
Class 3-2’s Ya Ya: "So that’s the real Tai Yi Zhenren, my whole worldview is shattered, I’ll never like him again."
"Hmm, I’ve never heard Ne Zha mention any of this," said Sun Wukong with a thoughtful scratch of the face, no wonder Ne Zha had said that despite spending so much time in Heaven, he had almost no friends.
With such a past, who would dare to befriend him?
Thinking this, Sun Wukong looked up at a void on the South Bank of the Milky Way, where Ne Zha was then training the thirty-six thousand celestial soldiers of the Celestial Warriors Formation.
"Taking a disciple to shield from calamities? I wonder if Ne Zha is aware of it? I hope he’s not being deceived."
From what he knew, the relationship between Ne Zha and Tai Yi Zhenren as master and disciple was quite good.
After some thought, Sun Wukong decided to keep this matter to himself for the time being; without solid proof, he couldn’t just blatantly slander someone’s master.
He then continued to read some more recent replies.
Many users on Zhizhu shared their insights about the Chan School, and after reading through them, Sun Wukong gained a more comprehensive understanding of the Chan School and its disciples.
Once he felt he had learned enough, he closed Zhizhu, yet his mind lingered on the matter. He had two Third-Rank Treasure Boxes left unopened, the rewards from earlier when he had taught a lesson to and threatened Bai He.
"Open them!"
"You have opened a Third-Rank Treasure Box, congratulations on obtaining Stick Dao Law Realization (Triple-layer), Bow Dao Law Realization (Triple-layer), and the White Crane Disciple’s hatred."
"You have opened a Third-Rank Treasure Box, congratulations on obtaining Instrument Dao Law (Single-layer), Formation Dao Law (Single-layer), and Subterranean Sun Wukong’s resentment."
Sun Wukong felt segment by segment of profound Law comprehensions merging into his Primordial Spirit, his mastery of the Dao steadily improving, while he also examined the two additional segments of memory.
"It’s only natural for the White Crane Disciple to harbor hatred after Old Sun’s lesson, but what’s with Subterranean Sun Wukong’s resentment? Old Sun hasn’t taught him any lesson."
With a thought, Wukong immediately knew the full story: it turned out that this fellow hated the teachings, hated his own master, Fearful Sun.
A dog-eat-dog world, none of them good.
In the following period, the events in the inner treasury quickly spread throughout Heaven, and all the immortals knew that Sun Wukong had won people over with reason, and, without hosting a banquet or offering gifts, had the White Crane Disciple deliver the supplies to his door.
Therefore, after this setback, the preparations for the martial arts competition encountered no further difficulties and finally proceeded smoothly.
Time passed, and the martial arts competition was finally about to begin.
That day, immortals from all three realms flocked to participate in the grand event, and when they learned that the competition was being held at the South Bank of the Milky Way north of Heaven, they were all astonished.
In past years, the event was held at Yaochi; why move it to a desolate place like the South Bank of the Milky Way?
As they approached the Milky Way, they were stunned by the sight from afar.
Beneath the endless expanse of the starry sky lay a vast, boundless river stretching across the vast expanse of Heaven, its rumbling waters surging ceaselessly, flowing towards a void.
Above the Milky Way at this moment, there were many floating islands, each with desks and tables set up, clearly prepared for the immortals.
But surrounding these islands and on the surface of the Milky Way, there were thirty-six thousand Celestial Warriors and eighty thousand river troops, all clad in Spear-Piercing Armor, arrayed in neat formations.
A somber and majestic aura spread out in the vast void, the omnipresent pressure leaving the immortals awestruck.
If one’s cultivation was a bit too low, they would struggle to even take a step here.
While the immortals were filled with a mixture of awe and suspicion,
in years past, during the martial arts competition at Yaochi, there would be fine wines, delicious food, and dancing fairy maidens, all in a peaceful atmosphere; even the martial contest did not display weapons.
Why was it this year the scene was so fraught with killing intent, as if preparing to vanquish someone?
Of course, there were quite a few deities who realized something was afoot, and their expressions turned grave, not daring to speak loudly or engage in jovial banter.
As they drew closer, the immortals saw a majestic Monkey King wearing a golden crown and a golden armor, greeting them at the head of the formation, his dazzling presence not even overshadowed by the hundred thousand celestial troops.
Some of the deities qualified to attend the court assembly had made acquaintances with Sun Wukong after Deng Hua’s incident, and they all knew that this martial arts competition was being overseen by Wukong himself.
In their view, this Great Sage Equalling Heaven could be considered the current favorite of His Majesty, second only to the Grand Pure One.
"Fellow Daoists, Old Sun greets you all," Sun Wukong said with a smile, bowing in greeting to the immortals arriving for the assembly, with Yang Chan assisting him at his side.
After a round of welcomes, they did not neglect any deity and had everyone seated according to the pre-arranged order.
Thus, the anxious hearts of the immortals settled slightly as they waited in their respective places for the commencement of the assembly.
But soon, their hearts were once again on edge.
Some time earlier, a chubby Taoist, humming a tune and accompanied by the White Crane Disciple, carelessly floated on a cloud from afar, his casual manner immediately drawing numerous gazes.
As soon as he arrived above the Milky Way, he began to clamor, "What’s going on? Isn’t there anyone to greet us? Where’s Ne Zha, my good disciple?"
At that moment, Ne Zha was on the other side, practicing the Celestial Warriors Formation, with no time to come over.
