Chapter 339: Chapter 284 Causation Comes, Fate Appears

The Ruyi Jingu Bang had already transformed into an Innate Virtuous Treasure, with the virtues of the Great Path as its main component.

After the Divine Weapon transformed into a Divine Arrow and shattered the body of Buddha Wutian, Luo Hou did reassemble Wutian’s body, but Sun Wukong intentionally left some of the virtues of the Great Path on the arrow.

The Buddha Sect preaches cause and effect, and the practice of cultivating virtue, especially the virtues of the Great Path.

The Buddha’s relics swallowed by Luo Hou, as well as Buddha Wutian’s benevolent thoughts, Kinnaris, were all influenced and blessed by the pull of the virtues of the Great Path.

Luo Hou’s features twisted and changed, and although he had the World-Ending Black Lotus above his head, he could no longer suppress the changes in Wutian’s body as numerous golden Buddhist lights emerged.

"Amitabha, well-said, well-said."

As the majestic chanting of Buddha’s name echoed, Wutian’s body’’ belly revealed the face of the Tathagata, and his chest displayed the face of the Kinnaris.

Both faces chanted Buddhist scriptures to subdue demons, causing Luo Hou’s pain to intensify, and he let out terrifying Demon Roars.

Every powerful figure present was astonished.

"Heh heh!" chuckled Sun Wukong coldly.

Before making his move, he had asked Kinnaris, the benevolent aspect of Wutian, if it still remembered A-Xiu, and if Moluo’s obsession was still present. The struggle evident on Luo Hou’s face confirmed that Wutian’s dual natures of good and evil had not been extinguished.

Which is why he had fired that arrow just now.

However, what was unexpected was that the Primordial Spirit of the Tathagata had also not been extinguished and now it had become the key force countering Luo Hou.

Upon reflection, Sun Wukong guessed why the Tathagata did not resist.

If in the past Shakyamuni had fed his flesh to eagles, today he offered his body to demons; it seemed, for the sake of eliminating evil.

Clearly, the Tathagata had taken a risk. If Luo Hou, after possessing him, had the power to destroy his Primordial Spirit, he would have truly reached Nirvana.

However, due to the rules laid down by the ancestral Dao of the Three Realms, no force below the level of a Saint, it had allowed the Tathagata to accomplish this feat.

That being said, where was Ran Deng?

No sooner had the thought arisen than Luo Hou continued to struggle in agony, while Wutian’s body underwent another change. Two skinny arms appeared at his sides, covered in a layer of chill, grey flame, trying to pull back the faces of the Tathagata and the Kinnaris into Wutian’s body.

"Ancient Buddha, this is your choice?" the Tathagata sighed softly.

"This is the choice of the Heavenly Dao," the voice of Ran Deng rose from within Wutian’s body.

However, that was followed by maniacal laughter: "Haha, Ancient Buddha, you have miscalculated, this is the blind Heavenly Dao!"

A sinister face of Moluo emerged on the chest of Wutian’s body, alongside the face of the Kinnaris. Two hands, billowing with Demonic Qi, pulled back the withered arms of Ran Deng.

For a moment, Wutian’s body became a battlefield.

This bizarre scene left everyone unsure of how to intervene.

Bodhisattva Guanyin said: "Recite scriptures!"

Thousands of Buddhist monks immediately reacted, quickly sitting in meditation in the sky, surrounding Luo Hou, who was in the throes of agonized roaring, and then chanting the Heart Sutra in unison.

Soon, the sound of chanting was overwhelming, like a great bell that shook the spirit.

Golden lights of Buddhist Law, transforming into various Buddhist runes, entered Wutian’s body.

The Tathagata and Kinnaris were instantly fortified; their strength greatly increased, suppressing not only Ran Deng but also Luo Hou.

Gradually, Luo Hou’s struggles and roars weakened, until he let out one last Demon Roar, filled with unwillingness: "Sun Wukong, you will regret this!"

Sun Wukong’s expression remained unchanged. He chose not to pay heed to the threats of the vanquished.

Just then, a drop of black liquid with a strange aura flew out from between Wutian’s brows, about to vanish, but it was swallowed by Moluo in one gulp.

"Luo Tian Soul Liquid?" Sun Wukong suddenly realized, confirming his earlier guess that this substance, which seemed to be a amalgamation of the soul and Demonic Thoughts, indeed came from Luo Hou.

Whoosh!

Immediately after, the appearance of Wutian’s body fluctuated, alternating between the Kinnaris and Moluo, finally settling on the image of Buddha Wutian with long black hair.

"I am the true Buddha Wutian." He chuckled softly, then looked at Sun Wukong and asked, "How did you know I was possessed?"

Sun Wukong smiled and said, "Not only did I know you were possessed, but I also knew that Shakyamuni was possessed too."

Buddha Wutian’s expression shifted slightly, a wariness in his heart, and he did not further inquire.

He then cast a profound glance over everyone present, and eventually spoke to the monks of the Buddha Sect, saying, "I will spare your lives, I hope you will take good care of yourselves."

Guanyin Bodhisattva said, "Wutian, please release the Buddha’s relics."

Buddha Wutian sneered, "Which Buddha?"

Golden Cicada said, "Both Buddhas. Though the Ancient Buddha has sinned, it should be punished by our Buddha Sect."

Buddha Wutian said, "I am now the Ancestor of the Buddha Sect, you all should revere me as supreme."

No sooner had he spoken than a light from Mount Ling approached, and a white, portly monk appeared before everyone, none other than the future Maitreya Buddha.

"Amitabha." Maitreya Buddha chanted a Buddha’s name, then addressed the monks, saying, "With the World-Honored One, and the Ancient Buddha passing into Nirvana, the future has come. Why do you not pay homage?"

The monks looked at one another. Logically, with the past Buddha Dipankara and the current Buddha Tathagata both in Nirvana, indeed, the future should be led by Maitreya Buddha.

The other powerful figures present were also filled with doubt, as the situation grew increasingly opaque.

Buddha Wutian then sneered, "There is only the present, where does the future come in?"

Sun Wukong followed up by saying, "Heh heh, the position of the Ancestor of the Buddha Sect should not fall to you two. It is Golden Cicada who should take up the mantle."

Golden Cicada nodded in agreement, saying, "I am the direct disciple of the World-Honored One, indeed, the one ordained by Fate to lead the Buddha Sect."

With a sneer, Buddha Wutian said, "Have you forgotten the decree of the Heavenly Dao? Who dares to obstruct me?"
