He stared at Amitabha Buddha, hoping he would lose his temper.
Amitabha Buddha held back, even showing a faint smile on his face.
“Thank you, Great Emperor.”
Great Emperor Ziwei’s eyebrows slightly raised.
He had humiliated him, and yet he was thanking him?
How thick must one’s skin be to do that?
“Thunder and rain are both your graces.”
Amitabha Buddha said.
Peacock Mahamayuri Bodhisattva and others exchanged glances.
Amitabha Buddha’s thick skin was truly the first in the Buddhist Realm, without a doubt.
“So, you admit your guilt?”
Great Emperor Ziwei’s tone was somewhat sharp.
But Amitabha Buddha shook his head and said, “Amitabha Buddha is not guilty, rather it is Marshal Tianpeng and others who belong to the Heavenly Court, yet caused an uproar in our Buddhist Realm.
I hope Great Emperor Ziwei can give me an explanation.”
At this point, he raised his head, staring at Great Emperor Ziwei and coldly said, “Just because you are the Emperor of the Heavenly Court does not mean you can allow your subordinates to act recklessly.
How can such a Heavenly Court gain the trust of beings across the Three Realms?”
“Indeed, we do not trust.”
Vajra Indestructible Buddha stood out and said loudly.
Following him, all the other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas voiced their dissent.
“Do you all intend to rebel against the Heavenly Palace?”
Immortal Master Erlang coldly snorted.
“Emperor, perhaps we should inform the other Three Great Emperors and the Five Elders of the Five Directions to take action together and annihilate this Buddhist Realm,”
Nezha said with a chuckle.
Sun Wukong’s eyes sparkled with golden light; he did not say much,
he knew in his heart that Great Emperor Ziwei would not truly take action to annihilate the Buddhist Realm.
Moreover, the Buddhist Realm was not easy to obliterate.
There was also another powerful figure who had not yet appeared, Bodhisattva Zhunti, known as the mother of seven hundred billion Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, possessing unlimited divine powers.
Ox Demon King quietly came to Wukong’s side, transmitting his voice, “Will Great Emperor Ziwei take action?”
Wukong glanced at him and replied, “He will not.”
The expression on Ox Demon King’s face stiffened, and he shifted his gaze before transmitting, “What if he cannot step down?”
Wukong’s brow furrowed slightly, and he transmitted, “Do not act rashly; their conflict represents the grand trends of heaven and earth.
It is best not to get involved unless you are a Heavenly Venerate or even Great Heavenly Venerate.”
Ox Demon King felt somewhat disappointed.
He did not speak any further.
The presence of such powerful entities from the Three Realms meant that, if anyone had divine skills, intercepting others’ transmissions could lead to trouble.
“Now I ask you, did the people of your Buddhist Realm obstruct Marshal Tianpeng and others from capturing Boxun?”
Great Emperor Ziwei spoke coldly.
Amitabha Buddha slightly frowned, but still nodded and said, “Yes.”
“Were those who surrounded Marshal Tianpeng your people?”
“Yes.”
Great Emperor Ziwei’s expression grew even colder.
“So based on what are you innocent?”
Amitabha Buddha smiled faintly and replied, “Those who obstructed Marshal Tianpeng were strong fighters from the Buddhist Realm but not under my control, and I did not even know who they were.
As for those who attacked Marshal Tianpeng and others, Marshal Tianpeng and his men indiscriminately acted against disciples of our Buddhist Sect, and we were merely protecting ourselves.
Is it also a crime to not want to be killed without reason?”
“Smooth-tongued.”
Nezha rebuked.
Immortal Master Erlang, however, remained relatively calm, merely sneering coldly.
“Since one of you says there is no guilt and the other says there is, I will not trouble you further.
Amitabha Buddha, follow me to the Purple Forbidden Enclosure, and once this matter is thoroughly investigated, if it is not the responsibility of the Buddhist Realm, I will let you return.”
As these words were spoken, the faces of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas drastically changed.
“Impossible.”
“Great Emperor, do not push us too far.”
“Supreme Honored Buddha will not go to the Purple Forbidden Enclosure with the Emperor.”
“If the Purple Forbidden Enclosure wishes to start a war, we will oblige.
Even if it means death, we cannot allow the Supreme Honored Buddha to endure such humiliation.”
…
The Buddhist Realm was roused with excitement.
Amitabha Buddha merely smiled and said, “Great Emperor, it seems I truly cannot accompany you to the Purple Forbidden Enclosure, please forgive me.”
Great Emperor Ziwei said indifferently, “If I want you to go, then you must go.”
The majesty of the Heavenly Court’s Great Emperor was unleashed, instantly altering the expressions of the Buddha and Bodhisattva.
“The Great Emperor cannot take me away; this is the Buddhist Realm, not your Purple Forbidden Enclosure.”
Amitabha Buddha’s tone became firm as well.
Being taken back to the Purple Forbidden Enclosure was impossible.
In the domain of Great Emperor Ziwei, even if one was truly immortal, there would be no good outcome.
The Daoists’ methods are mysterious and unfathomable; who knows what means they might have against him.
The atmosphere between the two sides suddenly tensed.
“If one Ziwei cannot take me away, what if I join?”
A cold and majestic voice sounded as Gou Chen the Great Emperor arrived personally.
All the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas paled; this emperor had also come.
He wore a black dragon robe, his face extremely cold, his expression filled with chilling intent.
Amitabha Buddha’s expression shifted slightly, but he remained firm.
“Even if the Four Heavenly Kings come together, they should not think of taking Amitabha Buddha away.”
No sooner had he spoken
than laughter.
The Longevity Great Emperor from the South Pole had also arrived.
He wore a dragon robe, an elderly figure, his gaze on Amitabha Buddha was like a smile but not quite a smile.
The Four Heavenly Kings had now arrived, three of them.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva muttered, “It’s a good thing Lady Houtu hasn’t come.”
No sooner had he spoken than Lady Houtu appeared before everyone.
She was dignified and gracious, merciful and supremely sacred, yet her energy was somewhat fierce.
Amitabha Buddha glared at Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva for his ‘crow’s mouth’—whatever he said, came to be.
Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva felt as if his mouth had been illuminated today , first calling Sun Wukong, and now conjuring Lady Houtu.
He shut his mouth, not daring to speak easily.
Should he inadvertently summon The Three Pure Ones or the Queen Mother, that would be problematic.
The Four Heavenly Kings were present in full, striking fear into the hearts of the Buddhist Sect’s Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
These four emperors now represented the entire power of the Heavenly Court.
Though the Buddhist Sect was strong, it still operated under the dominion of the Heavenly Court.
To really confront the entire Heavenly Court would lead to no good end.
“You say the four of us cannot take you away?”
Great Emperor Ziwei asked.
Amitabha Buddha, however bold, dared not make such a claim anymore.
“Homage to my Buddha.”
Unlimited Buddha’s Light burst forth as Buddha Mother Zhunti appeared.
Her presence rivaled that of Amitabha Buddha, standing by his side and staring down Great Emperor Ziwei and the others.
The intention of the Buddhist people was clear: they would protect Amitabha Buddha to the death.
The Four Heavenly Kings frowned and were somewhat annoyed.
Following the journey to the Western Heaven to retrieve the scriptures, the Buddhist Sect had grown increasingly powerful.
They had not expected that they had fostered a source of trouble; now the sect did not even regard the Heavenly Court.
Lady Houtu sighed and said, “If the Jade Emperor Great Heavenly Venerate were still here, who among the people of the Buddhist Realm would dare defy him?”
Tathagata is indeed the first among the Buddhist Sect.
But in front of the Jade Emperor Great Heavenly Venerate, even he was always respectful and did not dare to show the slightest disobedience.
Let alone Amitabha Buddha and the others, who definitely would not dare to release even a fart.
But now, they dared to confront the Four Heavenly Kings.
Gradually, killing intent emanated from Lady Houtu, enveloping the Buddhist monks gathered there.
Gou Chen the Great Emperor, Great Emperor Ziwei, and Longevity Great Emperor were also ready to act.
A great battle was on the verge of erupting.
