Jinn BLADE
Chapter 87 | Against Clones II

Chapter 87: Chapter 87 | Against Clones II

"Shit!" Jinn stumbled backward as his vision darkened, fully blinded by the substance the beast had vomited.

Still—he could track the creature’s eidra with his mechanical eye. Against the black haze, a dark violet glow marked its location.

The eidra closed in.

Jinn raised his blade just in time.

*Clang!

Their weapons clashed, the force of the strike jarring his arms.

He wanted to drive his sword into the ground, unleash a crimson storm like he had during training with Hector—but there were too many eidra nearby—too many people.

If he did it, they’d all be caught in the blast.

So Jinn kept defending. The beast shrieked and swung again.

He listened—focused on the sound of air whipping around the sword, matching its speed with the signature his mechanical eye picked up.

*Clang!

Jinn parried the blow, then countered with a fast slash.

Again and again, he kept this rhythm, hoping his vision would clear.

But it didn’t.

The black haze remained.

"Urgh!" he growled. He had no choice but to rely on the others.

"Vox! Verhedyn! Cover me! Ophelia, to me!"

"On it!"

Verhedyn didn’t wait.

He unleashed a storm of ice daggers, while Vox fired lightning bolts that scattered across the beast’s body.

Jinn jumped back, and warm hands caught him.

"Ophelia...?" he asked, still blinded.

"Stay still, Jinn! I might be able to fix it," she said quickly, her eidra flowing into him.

Ophelia closed her eyes and traced his veins with her power. Deep inside, around his eyes, she found it—a trace of corrupted black eidra wrapped tight around his vision.

She poured her energy into it and cleansed the corruption, sealing the area with a layer of light to keep it from returning.

Jinn’s eyes cracked open.

He could now see.

He tapped Ophelia’s hand—a quick thank you—then turned and rushed back into battle.

"Thanks! Support the others if you can!"

Vox and Verhedyn were already retreating.

The beast charged toward Jinn again.

Their blades collided with a loud crash.

*CLANG!

Jinn spotted the beast’s legs—intact. As if he hadn’t already cracked and broken them earlier.

It swung again, low this time, aiming to sever his legs.

Jinn leapt and flipped over the blade midair. As he twisted, he struck down with a wide vertical slash that cut into the beast’s shoulder.

*Shriek!!!

Black blood hissed on the battlefield.

But the beast didn’t stop.

It spun with Jinn’s momentum and hurled its blade around like a deadly wheel.

Jinn ducked under it and stabbed toward its ribs. The blade hit the bracer on its arm, scraping across the metal with sparks.

No pause.

Jinn spun and struck at its knee—the one he thought he had destroyed earlier—but the beast was fully healed. His blade hit solid armor.

"Tch. It healed faster than I thought."

The beast growled and jabbed with its longsword. Jinn barely moved in time, feeling the air whip past his cheek.

Then, he retaliated with his mechanical arm, smashing the beast’s elbow.

*Crack!

The force of Jinn’s strike made the armor crack. The joint bent the wrong way.

Then he ducked and swept with his leg, making the beast stumble and fall towards the ground with a resounding,

*Thud!

Jinn didn’t hesitate.

He jumped and brought his sword down hard—looking to finish it it.

But the beast met it with one hand on its blade—its other arm already swinging its blade.

Jinn surged his sword with crimson eidra, making him yank it out from the beast’s hand—just before completely blocking the beast’s strike.

*CRACK!

Steel rang out as they collided.

Jinn then flipped back and landed low, sliding as he steadied himself.

No delay.

He lunged again, his blade glowing with cimrson red eidra. It sparked across the steel like veins of light.

Then Jinn slashed diagonally.

*SLASH!

The beast tried to block but Jinn’s attack was even more faster this time, causing Jinn’s blade to tear deep into the beast’s chest.

*Shrieked!

The beast screamed in pain as it began to swing in wild arcs, trying to hit Jinn.

Jinn dodged, twisted, and evaded each attack flawlessly—he could see each attack as of time was in a slow motion.

He then slammed the hilt of his sword into its ribs—cracking it, making the beast stumble again.

But the black eidra around its body started to heal the wound.

"Regeneration," Jinn muttered. "Relentless bastard."

Then—it vanished.

Jinn’s eyes widened.

No, not vanished—moved.

A burst of energy behind him.

The beast reappeared mid-swing.

Jinn turned just in time and blocked the strike.

*CRACK!

The force drove him backward, boots carving deep lines in the ground.

It didn’t stop.

The beast lunged, swinging in a blur.

Each strike hit like a hammer.

Jinn parried them all, his crimson blade flashing with each blow.

*Clang! *Clang! *Shing!

The air boomed with sound.

Then the beast raised its sword for a crushing blow.

Yet Instead of dodging, Jinn dashed forward.

He ducked under the swing, slammed his shoulder into the beast’s chest, and drove his blade upward in a brutal arc.

*Crack!!! *Scrrrch!!!

The blade tore through its side.

Blood sprayed, thick and sour.

The beast punched Jinn in the jaw in return with a resounding,

*Thud!

Jinn flew back, twisted midair, and landed in a crouch. He slid several meters, coughed, and wiped blood from his lip.

Yet he stood again.

His arms shook—not from fear, but from strain.

His muscles burned, but his eyes burned hotter.

"You want endurance? Let’s see who breaks first—Zendrell taught me for times like this!"

*SHRIEK!!!

The beast roared and charged again. Black mist leaked from its half-destroyed face. It wasn’t healing as fast anymore, as if its eidra began to deplete as more injuries it took from Jinn.

It was faltering.

Jinn noticed it, before he spun his blade and dashed forward.

*BOOM!

Their swords met again with a loud clash.

Jinn ducked low and aimed for its thigh.

Blocked.

He twisted and struck at the ribs.

Blocked.

They moved fast, trading slashes and parries in close quarters. Each blow tested strength and speed.

Jinn kicked at its knee, rolled to the side, and slashed. The beast roared and spun to follow.

Too slow.

Jinn feinted high, then stabbed low—his blade drove through the beast’s foot, pinning it.

Before it could cry out, he yanked the sword free, spun, and slashed in a full arc, both hands gripping the hilt.

Crimson eidra flowed with the motion.

"RAAAH!"

The blade carved through the beast’s torso, cutting through armor and flesh.

*Crack!!!

It reeled, mouth open in a soundless scream.

*Slash!

Jinn kept going.

*Slash! *Slash!

He slashed again.

*Slash!*Slash!*Slash!

And again.

Three times in quick succession.

Each strike clean and full of fury. Each guided by muscle memory and eidra.

The beast dropped its sword. Its arm hung limp.

Jinn stepped on its chest and launched himself upward.

*Thud!

His blade spun above his head, catching the darkness of the sky and the glow of the battlefield.

"Die."

He brought the sword down hard.

*CRACK!!!

It pierced through the creature’s skull—then deeper—

*CRACK!!!*CRACK!!!*SQUELCH!!!

cutting down through its head, neck, and chest.

The beast twitched.

Then it stopped.

Jinn stood over the corpse, shoulders heaving. His blade dripped with dark blood and smoke.

Behind him, the battle still roared.

But this clone was done.

And Jinn was ready for the next.
