Jinn BLADE -
Chapter 85 | Vulnerable
Chapter 85: Chapter 85 | Vulnerable
With a mighty crouch, Garan tensed and then exploded off the ground like a cannonball, a primal roar ripping from his throat as he surged skyward toward the winged beast.
*ROAR!!!
His war cry echoed through the camp, loud enough to rattle bones, a declaration of fury and bloodlust that turned every head toward the sky.
The beast loomed above with its massive black-feathered wings outstretched, greatsword already raised, wreathed in tendrils of black eidra.
It hissed, and the two met midair in a violent clash of muscle and steel.
"Look—it’s the Drakkar as well!" a person cried out, pointing.
"Its attacking the flying beast!"
"Then why the hell are we just standing here?" another barked.
"Let’s not waste time—help them!" someone else shouted from the ranks.
Beren stepped forward, his coat flapping as energy flared around him—noticing the situation.
"Very well!" he shouted.
"Everyone, focus your aim on the giant! It’s slower and easier to hit!"
He slashed his arm forward like a blade.
"Fire at will!"
The camp shook with life.
*Bang! *Bang! *Zap! *Boom!
Bolts of energy screamed through the air, lighting the sky with bursts of color as Emera’s squad took formation.
Dozens of energy-enhanced blasts surged toward the towering giant locked in battle with Biyo.
Each impact cracked against its hide, flaring sparks or flashes of ice and flame.
Biyo danced between its attacks, his frost-charged axes carving and whirling through the air.
The giant’s steps sent tremors through the ground, its roars mixing with the shrieks of the winged beast above.
The battlefield had become a storm of chaos.
High in the air, the winged beast swung its massive greatsword in a horizontal arc, the black edge catching Garan in the ribs.
*Bang!
A clean slash—but shallow.
Not nearly enough for a grave injury for the likes of a drakkar such as Garan.
Blood spurted from the point of impact, but Garan didn’t falter.
He clamped one clawed hand around the beast’s sword arm and dragged it down with him, using gravity and raw strength.
As they plummeted together, he twisted and sank his fangs into the beast’s exposed neck.
*ROAR!!! *SHRIEK!!!
The creature screeched in agony, writhing, wings flapping in a panic to regain altitude.
But Garan’s teeth sank deeper,
*Crack!
tearing into sinew and bone.
His jaws crushed in with a sickening crunch until—
A sudden surge of black eidra burst from the wound.
*Boom!
It exploded outward, not just in force but in presence—like a malignant curse given form as it came from within the beast.
The raw backlash knocked Garan loose, hurling him away midair.
"GRAAH!!"
He tumbled through the sky, body trailing blood and steam.
For a moment, he was open.
Undefended.
The beast shrieked, eyes glowing with black fire. It tucked its wings and dove, blade-first, toward the falling Drakkar.
A streak of black trailed behind it like a comet from the underworld.
"Urgh!" Garan growled, gritting his teeth and crossing his arms over his chest. His fur bristled, and a faint shell of eidra shimmered over his body.
The blade struck.
*BANG!
Blood splattered in the air as the greatsword pierced his arms and sank through into his side. He growled through the pain, muscles clenching as they plummeted together, the sword biting deeper with every passing second.
But Garan was far from finished.
With a savage twist, he shifted his weight and angled his torso just enough for the sword to slip past his ribs.
Then—he moved.
He reached out with one arm and grabbed the beast’s leg mid-fall.
With a powerful yank, he flipped their positions—his body now on top, using gravity to his advantage.
"Grit your teeth," he snarled, and brought both fists down in a double hammerblow onto the beast’s face.
*BOOM!!!
The impact sent the creature rocketing downward, smashing into the center of the camp in a cloud of stone and debris.
Garan wasn’t done.
Landing on all fours like a wolf, he raised one arm and slashed through the air. A massive claw-shaped wave of eidra erupted forward, razor-sharp and laced with energy.
*SLASH!
Another followed.
*SLASH!*SLASH!
And another.
*SLASH!*SLASH!
And another.
*SLASH! *SLASH! *SLASH! *SLASH! *SLASH! *SLASH!
Each wave carved through the air like a scythe, colliding with the beast’s crash site. The area was consumed by dust and shockwaves, the ground riddled with deep, intersecting claw marks—long gouges that crisscrossed.
Then silence as dust flowed like smoke.
And from it, the beast stood tall.
Its greatsword was planted in the earth, used like a shield. Its wings were partially spread, one bloodied but still intact. It had weathered Garan’s onslaught without a scratch.
But now, it had landed in the middle of the camp.
Vulnerable.
Jinn was already moving.
He dashed forward with no hesitation, sword gripped in one hand, crimson eidra flaring around him like wildfire.
Emera, Hector, and Kain followed closely behind, each charging with synchronized resolve.
The beast took notice.
Its wings flared wide, and it roared as it swung its blade in a massive horizontal arc, releasing a black eidra wave that distorted the air and shattered the ground in its wake.
Jinn met it head-on.
*SLASH!
He slashed, releasing a crimson arc of energy to counter.
*BOOM!
The two waves collided with a thunderclap of light and shadow, cancelling each other in a brilliant explosion of pressure that sent ripples through the battlefield.
"Hector!" Jinn exclaimed. "Restrict its movement!"
Hector reacted instantly as he raised his sword and slammed it into the earth. The weapon glowed green, pulsing with life.
Veins of wood and root exploded from the impact, racing through the ground like serpents.
The beast sensed danger.
It spread its wings to fly—only to find Garan already there, emerging from the side like a beast from the underbrush.
*SLASH.
Garan’s claws tore through the base of one wing, severing it in a spray of dark blood.
The beast stumbled, grounded.
*SHRIEK!!!
Hector’s roots coiled around its legs like shackles, wrapping tight and locking it in place.
"Now!" Emera shouted. She and Kain sprinted ahead.
Jinn didn’t speak.
He just moved—faster than a blink, his sword gleaming like crimson firelight.
This was the moment.
The beast raised its blade with one arm, snarling.
Too slow.
Jinn was already within range. So were the others.
It was time to finish it.
