Jinn BLADE
Chapter 81 | Obsidian

Chapter 81: Chapter 81 | Obsidian

"What the hell is happening?" Jinn muttered, his voice low but tight as his eyes searched the skies above.

Black.

The heavens, once filled with light, now void of everything.

No clouds. No stars. No sun.

Nothing—except the red, twitching eye that writhed and pulsed high above them. Its massive iris, centered in a nest of living tendrils, shifted.

It watched.

It knew.

A cold weight settled on Jinn’s chest.

But he moved.

Boots pounding across the trembling earth, he sprinted toward where Ophelia and the others had gathered.

Their faces were tilted upward, frozen in disbelief, fear, and awe at the sight above.

The winged figure in the sky flapped its four long, writhing wings, each beat releasing subtle gusts that whispered across the air like distant screams.

Mist poured from the sockets of its eyes, oozing like living shadow, curling and seeping through the air as if whatever was inside the beast was pure darkness itself.

And then its gaze shifted.

The red iris centered on Jinn.

A cold ripple ran through his body as the creature’s long, thin arm lifted, a finger pointed directly at him.

"Especially you, boy..." the beast hissed, its voice distant yet echoing unnaturally clear, as if it spoke inside Jinn’s mind.

"The eidra within you... shall make the Lord happy!"

Jinn narrowed his eyes, his jaw tight.

He didn’t flinch. He didn’t move. His heart raced not in fear, but with adrenaline as his hands remained still by the hilt of his sword.

There was no mistaking it.

That... thing... was not like anything they had fought or seen before.

It was a corrupted beast.

It was powerful.

Definitely Stronger.

and Evil incarnate.

Jinn’s eidra stirred inside him, almost instinctively.

It responded not to his will—but to the pressure, to the weight this creature carried.

A warning.

A recognition that the beast was something he could not handle, for now.

He gripped his sword’s hilt in response, fingers tight.

Then

*Thud! *Thud! *Thud!

Heavy thuds pounded across the dirt, shaking the loose stones near his feet.

Jinn turned slightly to see Biyo arriving, rushing through the growing crowd with wide eyes.

Biyo didn’t speak right away. He simply stared up at the sky, mouth slightly parted.

And then, like the realization stabbed him, he whispered, "So... the Enlightened Ones had come..."

He turned sharply, eyes filled with urgency now, and shouted, "Everyone, pack your stuff! We will be in danger soon!"

His voice cracked across the camp like a whip of urgency.

And like that,

Panic.

Dozens of people scrambled.

Footsteps erupted in every direction as civilians and fighters alike began throwing whatever they could into packs, boxes, and sacks.

"Get the rations! Get the rations!"

"Quicker!"

Shouts filled the air. Some called out to family, others cursed as they stumbled over scattered supplies.

Jinn didn’t hesitate.

He turned toward Ophelia, who was already grabbing her bag.

Verhedyn and Orin followed, quickly shoving what little they had into their gear.

Still, Jinn looked to the sky.

That thing hadn’t moved.

Its wings flapped gently.

And then it laughed.

A high-pitched, bone-piercing cackle that stretched across the sky like broken glass sliding against metal.

*KiKiKiKiKiKiKiKiKi!!

"Like ants struggling to resist what the strong had already decided," the creature hissed, its voice echoing in twisted glee.

It inhaled.

And then screamed.

*SHRIEK!!!

A shriek that tore through the air like a blade.

The sound wave crashed across the forest, splitting trees and shaking the earth. Even the great trees far off in the distance trembled from the force, their leaves shaking violently.

Then...

*Rumble.

A deep, groaning quake.

All heads turned toward the distant jagged mountain.

And then it exploded.

*BANG!

The peak shattered—flying apart in massive chunks. From the torn apex of the mountain spilled something dark... and red.

Like blood.

A sickening river of it flowed from the shattered summit.

And then came the screeches.

*Shriek! *Shriek! *Shriek!!!

A flood of shrill, beastly screams filled the air.

Dozens. No—hundreds.

Thousands.

Dark winged beasts burst from the broken crown of the mountain, their twisted shapes flapping through the air in jagged patterns.

The horizon darkened further as the swarm multiplied, filling the skies like a plague. Their screams were distant, but even from here, Jinn could feel it in his bones.

They were coming.

Then another

*Thud!

came nearby.

It was Garan.

He dropped down from a tree, landing hard near them, his breath ragged.

For once, his usual ego was gone.

"There are woodland beasts heading toward our direction now!" he said quickly, snarling in urgency.

The tension in his voice shook something inside them all.

It was like the whole of Gravemarch was descending upon their position.

The sky, the land, everything was stirring to consume them.

Jinn turned toward the woods, then to the distant mountain.

Then up at the sky once more.

But even during that panic, something tugged at him—catching his attention.

From within his coat pocket—trembling.

He plunged his hand into it, feeling something hot and vibrating in his palm.

A stone.

The obsidian stone.

The same one given to him by the guard of the princess. He had almost forgotten about it, tucked deep away, out of sight.

But now it was glowing faintly—trembling violently—and then...

*crack!

Thin lines broke across its smooth surface like veins, light pulsing from within, faint but building.

Jinn stared at it, curiosity evident in his face.

What is this? he thought.

He didn’t know.

But he knew—deep inside—it was connected.

To all of this.

The skies. The beasts. That thing above. The red eye. The name Malgareth.

It must somehow or somewhat have a relationship with the current situation.

His fingers tightened around the stone.

"Time’s running out," he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.

The ground trembled again.

Screeches drew nearer.

And all around them—anxious faces.

But Jinn stood still, stone in hand, sword on his hip

A battle was coming.

And they had no choice but to meet it.
