Jinn BLADE -
Chapter 76 | Crimson against Nature
Chapter 76: Chapter 76 | Crimson against Nature
*BANG!
With a sharp bang, Jinn vanished from his spot, blinking forward in a flash of movement.
Crimson arcs of eidra cracked and danced across the ground behind him, searing faint scorch marks into the earth as he closed the distance between him and Hector in an instant.
In a blur, his blade swept outward in a powerful arc, aimed not at Hector’s body—but directly at his sword.
Hector barely had time to see the attack.
He’s too fast!
*CLANG!
The impact rang out like a thunderclap.
Jinn’s strike smashed against Hector’s blade with tremendous force, sending a pulse of pressure bursting out from the clash.
Dirt kicked up around them in a quick gust, and Hector staggered a step back.
But to Jinn’s surprise, that was all.
Despite the strength and speed behind his attack, Hector’s sword had absorbed most of the blow, its surface shimmering as it absorbed the force.
It hadn’t shattered.
It hadn’t even cracked.
Whatever sword Hector was holding in his hands, it was nothing normal.
Jinn’s eyes widened slightly as he landed and stepped back, assessing the weapon in Hector’s hands.
"You..." he muttered, eyes locked on the blade. "You have a nice sword."
Hector exhaled slowly, settling his stance again as he dug his feet into the ground.
"I’ve been told it’s quite durable," he replied, his voice calm but sharp.
His green eidra flared around his arms, pulsing with renewed strength as he focused.
"We’ll find out if it holds, then!" Jinn shouted back.
With no hesitation, he launched himself into the air. Dust exploded beneath his feet as he kicked off the ground.
His sword rose high above his head, wrapped in crackling crimson energy, ready to come crashing down like a bolt of powerful judgment.
Hector inhaled deeply, his chest rising, before he exhaled with force.
As he did, he swung his sword in a wide horizontal through the open air above him—aimed at Jinn.
*Vwoom!
A powerful gale erupted from the blade, a wave of wind infused with green eidra that surged toward the sky.
It struck Jinn mid-air.
Caught off guard, Jinn had no time to dodge.
The wind hit him like a wall, sending him spiraling backward. He twisted just in time to land on his feet with a solid
*thud!
sliding slightly along the ground before regaining balance.
But Hector was already on him.
He charged with no hesitation, blade flashing as he swung in a wide arc. The green shimmer of his eidra trailed behind his weapon like a comet’s tail, the sheer force slicing the air apart.
*Fwoosh!
Jinn ducked low, narrowly avoiding the strike—but Hector anticipated it.
In one fluid motion, Hector jumped, driving his knee upward.
It collided with Jinn’s face with a brutal
*crack!
"Urgh!" Jinn winced, his head snapping back. But pain didn’t stop him—it never did.
In the same motion, Jinn clenched his fist, eidra surging around it in crimson sparks.
He twisted his body and launched a counterpunch straight into Hector’s jaw.
*BANG!
The impact was solid.
"Khurghk!" Hector choked, his head jolting upward, teeth gritted from the blow. But he retaliated instantly, swinging his blade with a grunt of effort.
*CLANG!
Steel clashed against steel.
The two swords met with a sharp sound, their blades locked, pressure rising between them. Energy crackled at the point of impact—green and crimson fighting for dominance.
"Your fists still hurt as much as they used to, Jinn," Hector muttered, straining as he tried to push back.
Jinn’s eyes narrowed, a smirk forming as he leaned in, his strength pushing the clashed blades closer to Hector’s body.
"Good," Jinn said through his teeth. "That means I haven’t gone soft."
With a grunt, he pressed harder, the air vibrating around them as their eidra flared violently.
"Urgh!" Hector grunted, his muscles straining under the mounting pressure. J
inn’s strength was overwhelming—his blade pushing harder and harder, forcing Hector down until one knee hit the ground.
"Come on, Hector," Jinn said with a sharp grin, eyes burning with determination as he pressed his sword deeper against Hector’s.
"Is this really all you’ve got?"
Hector clenched his jaw, sweat dropping at his temple.
"Of course not!" he then snapped back.
With a sudden twist, Hector angled his sword just right, redirecting the pressure so that Jinn’s blade slid off, harmlessly sliding down the length of his weapon.
The momentary break in contact gave Hector his chance.
He leapt backward.
But Jinn was already moving.
*Bang!
In the blink of an eye, a crimson streak blurred across the ground as Jinn dashed after him, sword drawn back to strike.
Hector slammed his sword into the earth just before Jinn could reach him.
A pulse of green eidra surged from the hilt, crackling into the ground—and in an instant, thick vine tendrils burst upward in a towering wall in front of Jinn.
*WHAM!
Jinn halted, his boots skidding across the dirt just before impact.
The wall loomed high, tangled and writhing, a living barrier between them.
Gasps erupted from the onlookers nearby.
"W-What the hell is that?" one of them stammered, eyes wide as they raised their necks to see the top of the wall.
"What do you think it is?" another muttered, stunned.
"It’s a giant wall of vines!"
The vines creaked and shifted, leaves fluttering as if alive, swaying with a rhythmic pulse of green light—an extension of Hector’s will, fueled by the eidra coursing through him.
On the other side of the wall, Hector exhaled, his stance steady, his fingers still wrapped tight around the sword’s hilt buried in the ground.
Jinn stared at the wall, his lips curling into a grin.
Now this is getting interesting.
"Nice trick," Jinn said, clearly amused by Hector’s abilities.
He twirled his sword once in hand, eyes gleaming with challenge.
"But my sword is sharper."
With a clean, fluid arc, Jinn slashed horizontally.
*Crack!
A thunderous crack echoed as crimson eidra burst from the edge of his blade.
The thick wall of vines split in an instant, cleaved cleanly down the middle.
Chunks of vine and leaves fell away like fragile matter, scattering to the sides as Jinn dashed through the clearing dust and green debris.
But Hector was already in motion.
By the time Jinn emerged from the wall, Hector’s sword was once again plunged even deep into the ground, its hilt glowing bright green, pulsing like a heart.
The shimmer spread instantly—cracks of green light racing through the dirt.
From those veins of energy, vines erupted once more.
This time, they didn’t rise to form a wall—they shot up like living snakes, writhing and twisting through the air with alarming speed.
Dozens of them, all converging.
Aimed at Jinn.
Jinn’s instincts kicked in.
He jumped,
*Thud!
flipping midair to avoid the first wave—but these vines moved differently.
They followed.
As if guided by an unknown force, the tendrils coiled around his legs mid-air.
"Tch!," Jinn muttered, twisting his body to resist.
But it was too late.
The vines snapped tight like cords, wrapping around both legs and yanking him down with force.
*BANG!
He hit the ground hard, one knee landing first, the other foot pinned behind.
Jinn winced, glancing down at the writhing vines binding him. They glowed faintly green, pulsing with Hector’s eidra—thick and alive, like veins under skin.
"What a conundrum..." he muttered under his breath, eyes narrowing.
Crimson light began to shimmer faintly across his arms, his grip tightening around his sword’s hilt.
