Chapter 118 | Truth
Chapter 118: Chapter 118 | Truth
*Crash! *Crack! *Bang!
Venedix’s blade clashed hard against Malgareth’s, their weapons meeting in a storm of force that sent waves of shock through the air.
Each time their swords collided, a powerful gust exploded outward, tearing across the ground and shaking the battlefield around them.
The clash of their strikes echoed, each one louder than the last, as if the land itself could feel the weight of their power.
"You will not—" Malgareth began, but his voice sounded different now.
There was something twisted in it, something darker than before.
His tone was deeper, as if the power given to him by the cloaked figure had changed him.
It wasn’t just him speaking anymore.
It was something else, something tainted and filled with rage.
"STOP ME FROM CLAIMING WHAT IS MINE!" Malgareth roared, his voice shaking the air as he raised his massive sword high into the sky before swinging it down with full force.
*SHHH!!!
The blade glowed with energy, and the strange heart-like structure on its hilt began to pulse, beating rapidly like it was alive.
The sound of that beating filled the silence between their blows.
But Venedix was already moving.
With speed that seemed faster than a blink, she twisted her body slightly, dodging to the side just as the massive blade came down.
The sword missed her by an inch, slicing through empty air,
*BANG!
and crashing into the ground where she had stood just a moment before.
The ground cracked under its weight, dirt and stone flying in all directions.
Without missing a beat, Venedix stepped forward and snapped her blade out, aiming a sharp strike toward Malgareth’s side.
Her movement was clean, precise, and filled with strength.
But before the blade could land its mark, Malgareth raised one of his hands and summoned a black shield in front of him.
It formed instantly, made of the same dark structure and cursed eidra that had blocked Venedix’s attacks earlier.
The barrier stood firm, and her blade bounced off it like it had struck solid iron.
"Your attacks are useless against me now," Malgareth said, his voice laced with confidence and cruelty.
Then, without warning, he shoved forward with his massive sword, aiming to bash Venedix with the flat of the blade using his shoulder to drive the force.
*Skrrrrk!
But Venedix reacted quickly again.
She pushed off the ground and leaped back, avoiding the hit with perfect timing.
While in mid-air, she raised her blades and released exactly three sharp, crackling waves of eidra that shot through the air.
The energy was golden, bright and violent, each wave pulsing with lightning-like force as it tore across the space between them, aiming directly for Malgareth.
*Crack! *Crack! *Crack!
The sound of the crackling blasts filled the air, roaring like thunder as they raced forward.
Once more, Malgareth lifted one of his hands, his palm facing forward as a dark symbol pulsed in front of it.
In an instant, the same barrier he had used earlier appeared again, forming like a curtain of black flame that shimmered with cursed energy.
The moment Venedix’s golden eidra waves reached it, they vanished completely, dissolving into nothing.
It was as if the barrier devoured the attacks, swallowing them whole without even showing a sign of damage.
Venedix narrowed her eyes, her face calm but focused.
She didn’t speak at first. Instead, the glow surrounding her blades began to shift.
The golden shine that once coated her weapons faded away slowly, replaced by a deep, burning red.
*crack.! *crack!
Crimson eidra began to crackle across the surface of the blades, violent arcs leaping off with each second.
The air around her seemed to hum with pressure, as if the space itself recognized the shift in her power.
"Very well," Venedix said at last, her voice steady, controlled, as she stepped forward with measured steps.
Her arms were lowered, her blades hanging loosely by her sides, but there was nothing careless in the way she walked.
Each step was deliberate.
Each breath she took filled with purpose.
"Let’s see if your barrier is strong enough to handle Sunder Surge."
She inhaled slowly, her chest rising as she leaned her body forward.
Her feet slid slightly across the ground, spreading apart as she took a stance that looked ready to burst forward at any second.
Her fingers gripped tightly around her hilts as her body tensed like a coiled spring.
Then came the lightning.
*ROAR! *CRACK!
Crimson arcs of energy sparked around her arms, crawling across her shoulders and down her legs.
The bolts jumped across her armor, growing more violent with every passing second.
*CRACK! *CRACK!
The sound of the crackling grew louder, whirring through the air like a storm building up around her.
Dust began to lift off the ground, caught in the force of her power charging up.
Across from her, Malgareth moved.
He raised his massive blade again, pointing it downward as he slammed it into the earth.
Dark energy burst from the impact, and a large black barrier grew up from the ground in front of him.
It stretched high and wide, the same twisted power that had nullified Venedix’s previous attacks now forming a wall between them.
"Come," Malgareth said, his voice deep and calm, as if unshaken.
His hand gripped the hilt of his sword tightly as the barrier pulsed with dark energy, waiting for her to strike.
Then, with a deafening blast, Venedix burst forward like a bolt of thunder.
*BANG!!!
She vanished in a blink, leaving behind a trail of crimson arcs that crackled violently across the ground.
Her speed was blinding, and not even Malgareth could keep up with her movement.
One moment she stood still, the next she was right in front of him, faster than any eye could track.
Without hesitation, Venedix brought her twin blades up from below in a sharp, rising motion.
The blades crossed mid-air, aiming to land an X-shaped slash right onto Malgareth’s body.
But the attack was stopped.
*Clang!
Malgarreth’s barrier held strong, his defense solid just as Venedix expected.
She didn’t pause.
She didn’t need to.
This was part of her rhythm.
She blinked again, this time flashing to the side, and unleashed a wide, sweeping strike from her right blade. The crimson lightning along her weapon danced as it aimed to break through.
*Clang!
Blocked again.
Yet she kept moving.
Without stopping, she disappeared once more, now appearing in the air directly above him.
Her feet glowed bright as her eidra wrapped around them, allowing her to stand as if the air itself had become solid beneath her.
In that suspended space, she raised both swords and struck.
Once.
*crack!
Twice.
*crack! *crack!
Ten times.
*crack! *crack! *crack! *crack! *crack! *crack! *crack! *crack! *crack! *crack!
Twenty times.
In the span of a single second, she unleashed a furious storm of lightning-fast blows, each one hitting the same area of the barrier with deadly precision.
Her blades cracked through the air, striking in rapid rhythm, the crimson energy exploding with each impact.
The barrier finally began to wobble under the relentless onslaught.
It trembled faintly, rippling from the focused power she poured into every strike.
But still, it did not break.
Venedix didn’t let up.
She pushed off from the air and spun downward.
*Thud!
Her boots hit the earth behind Malgareth with a thud, cracking the ground beneath her from the force of her landing.
Dust lifted around her feet as she rose, breathing steady, her eyes locked forward.
"Enkarel," she whispered.
In one swift motion, she drove both of her blades forward, piercing them into the dark barrier.
This time, she aimed for a single point.
A small, narrow section of the shield—one that hadn’t been struck before.
She poured all her energy into this spot, both blades snapping and flaring with lightning eidra the moment they made contact.
The force surged through the weapons, focused, sharp, and violent.
Crimson sparks erupted as her power tried to carve through the stubborn wall of cursed defense that still stood between her and Malgareth.
And then it happened—a small, almost invisible crack formed across the surface of the barrier.
It wasn’t large, but to Venedix, it was enough.
Her eyes caught it instantly, her sharp gaze locking onto the faint line that ran along the cursed defense.
It was a sign.
A flaw.
A moment of weakness she could use.
Malgareth noticed it too.
Realizing that Venedix’s constant strikes were starting to work, his expression twisted with frustration.
He gripped his sword tightly and drove it into the ground again.
But this time, it wasn’t to raise another barrier.
No, this time he had something else in mind.
Dark energy spread out from the point of impact.
Suddenly, piercing pillars of black eidra erupted violently from the earth all around him, rising like spikes aiming to skewer anything nearby.
*Bang! *Bang! *Bang! *Bang! *Bang!
Each one burst up with force, sharp and tall, meant to impale.
Venedix leapt back the moment the pillars began to rise.
Her eyes remained locked onto Malgareth, her body moving with practiced ease.
But the pillars didn’t stop.
They followed her, rising wherever she went, as if drawn to her movement.
She dodged to the left, and another pillar shot up just beside her, barely missing her side.
She dodged to the right, and again, a dark spike erupted only inches away.
She vaulted into the air, but from below, another pillar came soaring upward, trying to catch her mid-air.
But none of them touched her.
Venedix was too fast.
Too fluid.
She moved with the grace of someone who had done this a thousand times before.
Her body twisted, ducked, leapt, and turned with precision that made it look effortless.
Every motion she made was sharp yet smooth, like she was dancing through death itself.
The crimson arcs from her blades still sparked behind her, leaving trails in the air that made her movements look like streaks of lightning cutting across the sky.
"WHAT IS THIS!?" Malgareth shouted, eyes wide with disbelief.
He stood still, overwhelmed by the speed and agility of his opponent.
No matter how many pillars he summoned, no matter how fast they came, Venedix avoided every single one.
After several long moments, the ground stopped rumbling.
The pillars ceased to rise.
The cursed attack had ended.
Venedix landed lightly on the ground, her boots hitting the stone with perfect balance.
Her arms were relaxed, her expression unchanged, calm as ever.
She began walking forward without rush, each step measured, her twin blades still alive with crackling energy.
Her face was unreadable.
Cold and focused.
It was as if everything Malgareth had done was just a minor inconvenience.
Her steps didn’t falter.
Her pace didn’t change.
The battlefield, torn and scarred behind her, didn’t matter.
"You lack strength, boy," Venedix said, her voice quiet but sharp.
Her tone carried no rage, no mockery.
Just truth.
