Chapter 34: I don’t have a problem there

Seeing Seojun boil with rage because of me made me feel touched but I also knew that one more action from him would rather kill Sungho or land him in a fatal condition and that would put Seojun in a rough spot.

It all happened so fast and before I knew it, I found myself taking action. I hooked my arm in Seojun’s and held on tight.

And when I realized what I had done, Seojun was looking at me with confused eyes.

"P-please stop." I said and tried to look him dead in the eyes without wavering. "It... It’s enough, Seojun, let him go."

Seojun still looked at me a bit confused but like a robot getting controlled by a remote, he stiffly let go of Sungho’s shirt and lowered his arm.

"Hyung," he suddenly called. "Don’t do that next time." He said and looked at me with eyes that I could not understand, for the first time in a while. It looked like he was scared but there was also a mixture of uncertainty. What was it?

I don’t know why he said that but I don’t think I’ll be using my body to interfere in a fight anytime soon.

"I... I’ll keep that in mind." I said but he suddenly dropped his hands on my shoulders, looking with eyes that I could finally understand. Desperation.

"Don’t do it." He said. "It’s dangerous."

I went about my life understanding people’s intentions by the look in their eyes. I didn’t have the courage to start up a conversation and I didn’t have the courage to ask for confirmation at all times so most times, I looked into their eyes.

I don’t know if I was born with it or if God blessed me with that ability over time because of the environment I lived in but I was grateful for it. It allowed me to access the people around me, what they could possibly be thinking of, and what they were capable of.

It helped me a lot and it kept me from getting into life-threatening situations but...

That ability wasn’t exactly perfect. There were still a lot of things I could not read from the eyes alone and not everyone was as easy to read as the norm so I didn’t always rely on it and listened to my gut feeling when uncertain.

And right now, faced with the desperation of Seojun, which I could not fully understand, I decided to follow my gut feeling that told me to smile.

I did just that. I smiled. Not my best, but in the way I felt would reassure him of whatever he was feeling.

"Director," Seojin called. "Now that this matter is settled, would you mind if Hyung went home to rest? The day’s not exactly been favorable for him."

Taiha nodded.

"Yeah, I get it. But you two still need to do the shoot. We can’t miss a day since the higher-ups expect a lot from this week’s shoot. We already lost a few hours but we can make up for it with a few extra hours of work." He said. "This situation..." He glanced at the depressed Sungho. "...I don’t believe it’s something either of them wants circulating around and my crew is pretty tight-lipped so there’s no problem there. So we’ll keep it a secret."

"I don’t have a problem there." Seojin said, smiling calmly. "But if he tries anything, I don’t think I’ll be able to keep that promise, director."

The smile on his face definitely emphasized his calmness and throughout this ordeal, even if he looked troubled at some point, he was able to stay calm to the point that he did not raise his voice too much or attack.

But that calmness... Why did it give shivers like a slithering snake lurking in the bushes?

I must be overthinking it, right?

My Seojin was far from a snake. He was a harmless golden retriever that was as calm as daylight. Yes, that was how it was.

"Fine, if Sungho tries something crazy like this a second time, it’ll be beyond me and whatever happens, happens. He’ll have to face rumors after that and his career will likely be over so," he glanced at Sungho, hoping he was getting the warning loud and clear. "Just keep it to yourself."

Both twins smiled and gave their words,

"We agree."

I was glad things ended like this but I ended up glancing over at Sungho in pity. I heard their conversation and I could tell how hurt he was after finding out the person he considered as his other half didn’t feel the same.

He even resulted to suicide so he must be pretty depressed. So depressed that he would get desperate and use any means to secure the only good this thing going on for him.

I was a victim of his desperation and it was harsh, what he made me go through, but I couldn’t help but feel for him.

I turned, planning to take a step towards him when Seojin blocked me with his body. Did he know what I was planning to do?

I didn’t know because he was acting oblivious and smiling with relief,

"You heard the director." He said and placed his hands on my shoulders. "You should go home and rest, Hyung. We’ll handle the rest here."

I nodded and couldn’t even look past him at Sungho because he was blocking me with his entire body.

"Then, I’ll get going." I said.

Honestly, I wanted to be stubborn and say I could work but thinking of how the crew members might look at me this very day made me feel dizzy.

The look of pity? The look of scorn? The look of discomfort? It could be anything and I was sick of it.

Maybe I would be able to face it after getting a good night’s rest but not now. Not when my head was still in the dump.

"Alright, I’ll leave it to you." I smiled.
