Chapter 32: It seems you guys do go way back
"... But before that, can I speak with Sungho?"
"Definitely not!"
The request was immediately denied by both guys who were standing next to me.
Well, I expected it. And I didn’t want to do it either. I was still scared and my body wouldn’t stop shuddering at the memory but all this crept up from a secret he wanted me to keep.
I didn’t want to go back on my word just because I was scared, but in order to make his actions plausible, I needed to give out a good reason behind his actions, such as me knowing a huge secret of his.
"I just need to have a word with him." I said but Seojun looked at me with an extremely worried expression and said,
"Hyung, why would you want to speak with him after what he did? He should be sent to jail immediately for the assault. He..."
"I know how it may seem and..." I felt a little anxious as I was about to say the next part of my sentence. Would they believe it? What if they felt I was just trying to cover him up?
Well, it doesn’t matter. I was just telling the truth.
"... I may sound crazy but, it isn’t how it seemed, I promise."
"What?" I felt an icy look coming from Seojin’s gaze but did not dare raise my head to see for myself.
Then, he shoved his fingers through his hair, clicked his tongue, and said,
"Did that crazy bastard threaten you to say that?"
"What? No, I..."
"Hyung, he had you pinned to the floor, taking off your clothes, and you..." He covered his mouth as if still in disbelief at what he saw, "...you were in tears, Hyung. You were shaking. Terrified."
As if I had actually entered the point where I could read his mind through the devastated look in his eyes, I quickly understood what was going on. They... They were scared for me, wasn’t it?
Seojin was the calmer one among the twins. I knew he was always smiling and didn’t let his worries seep out through his smile so seeing him like that...
Well, seeing me in that situation, it must’ve reminded them of the past as well. They might’ve been young but there was no way they would forget what they felt that day.
It was haunting them, wasn’t it?
And just like back then when those sweet little boys did not hesitate to stab their father on my behalf, they rushed in to do the same this time around.
However they were acting now, whether it was beyond the ordinary or completely contrary to their sweet and caring personalities, it was definitely a reflection of the anxiety and anger in their hearts.
This situation was similar to back then and though they had no power, they still did what they did, but they were far stronger now.
I lowered my head.
Even stronger than me, it seems. They grew up well, my boys.
’Though I’m glad it ended with a beating and no stabbing involved this time. Seojun could’ve really gone to jail.’ I thought and sighed.
"Hyung." Seojin called, taking my hand in his. He looked desperately into my eyes and said, "Please, don’t go to him."
I looked up at Seojun and then back at Seojin. I reached out my other hand to his head and gently stroked his head.
His hair was soft to the touch and quite soothing and he seemed to like my gentle strokes as he closed his eyes to sink into the feeling.
"Then, will it help matters if you go with me?" I asked and he opened his eyes, having a peculiar look in his eyes. "There’s no way he will be able to hurt me if you’re there with me, right? I just have something important to ask him. If I don’t ask then there’s no way I can say the content of what happened and that’ll be bad for all of us."
"I don’t care." Seojun said, folding his arms in dissatisfaction.
Gosh, as stubborn as ever, I see.
"Please." I said, giving them the old classic pleading eyes I used once in a while.
It worked well back then, but I don’t know if I still got it on me to get them to...
"Alright." Seojun agreed right away. Huh, that was fast. Seems like I still got it. "But I’m going too, okay, Hyung?"
"That’s fine."
I looked at Taiha in the corner who had been watching our little drama and he shook his head.
"It seems you guys do go way back." He said. "And I also feel it’ll be dangerous for you to go talk to him after what he did but since they’re going with you, I don’t think there’ll be a problem."
I nodded and slowly got down from the bed with Seojin holding on to my right hand as though I was an ailing patient and Seojun helping me put on my shoes.
Seriously, I was perfectly fine. They didn’t need to worry.
But...this was going to be a problem. With an incident like this and with them caring so much, how and when on Earth am I going to separate myself from the twins?
It was like each passing day drew us closer when it should draw us farther apart.
’Well, it’s still the second day of work. I’m sure with time I’ll be able to give them the distance that is required in order not to bring misfortune to them.’ I thought to myself and glanced at both of them standing next to me.
They were still shining even in a situation like this but I was glad they had calmed down. Even though they were sweet innocent boys, they still had an angry side. It was terrifying to think they could get angry at me like that someday.
Glaring with cold eyes and daring to hit me for a mistake I made. The thought of it made me shudder and at that moment, Seojin placed his hand on my shoulder.
"It’s okay, Hyung, we’re here." He said but he had no idea that the reason I shuddered was the fear of getting on their nerves and causing them to hit me.
I shook my head and said,
"It’s fine. I’m okay."
"You don’t have to act like you’re strong." Seojun suddenly whispered in my ear. "It’s okay, we’re here. We’ll be your strength so just rely on us."
Uh, what?
