Chapter 260: Why would they keep the first aid kit so high up?

(Okay, it seems I missed this Chapter when I was uploading. So sorry for the inconvenience. I’ll upload this here and hope you have no problem with it. Thank you for your understanding. And to be clear, this happened just before they went to the gym)

Dongwoo took a shower, still thinking of what it could be that made Seojin so angry and what the factor that could endanger their happiness was.

He got out of the shower, took off the nylon from his hand, and sighed.

He hoped Seojun would tell me everything and not keep a single detail out.

Because Seojin didn’t know Dongwoo overheard his conversation on the phone, Seojun decided to start the explanation once Seojin was gone.

Thus, they postponed changing his bandage till after breakfast when Seojin would leave for his appointment.

He announced that he was going out for a bit and would probably be back late so they shouldn’t worry about him.

Dongwoo had a hunch he was going off to meet up with that person that was making a mess of their ’plans’. He pursed his lips worriedly.

"Stay safe." Dongwoo said as he saw Seojin to the door.

"Haha, it’s not like I’m going to war, Hyung." Seojin said, taking it lightly. "But I still appreciate it. On that note, won’t you give me a goodbye kiss? I bet that would keep me safer." He said with a smile.

"Kisses aren’t protective charms." Dongwoo said. "But..." He stretched forward and kissed his lips. "...I do hope it works."

"Haha, thank you, Hyung." Seojin said and waved as he picked up his hat and wore his nose mask. "You guys have fun in the gym, alright?" He hugged Dongwoo. "Don’t work out too much, okay? Matteo can be a real exercise maniac so don’t always follow his steps."

Seojun simply folded his arms, dissatisfied at being called an exercise maniac but he couldn’t refute it either, as it was true.

"Alright, I get it." Dongwoo laughed. "Get going already. You don’t want to be late for your appointment."

"Yeah."

Dongwoo waved until Seojin was gone and once the door closed, he got worried again. He looked back at Seojun, hoping to get some sort of reassurance that nothing bad was gonna happen.

"Shall we get your bandages changed, Hyung?"

Dongwoo sat by the kitchen table and watched as Seojun brought out the first aid kit from the top shelf in the kitchen.

If he had been the one to get it, he would’ve probably needed to climb a stool or something.

Why would they keep the first aid kit so high up? Like... What if he wanted to get it?

"Hyung," Seojun began as he took out the supplies one by one. "I’m sure you’re aware that we, Lorenzo and I, are not on good terms with our family in Italy."

"Um, you never really mentioned it but I was sure, by the way you guys spoke, that you didn’t get along with your mother." Dongwoo said and watched as he took his hand and started unwrapping the bandage. "It’s not just her?" He asked.

"The entire family is messed up." Seojun said. "I’m almost glad I took after that crazy bastard’s last name." He added and paused, realizing he had spoken crudely. "Sorry." He said.

"No, it’s okay. Continue."

Dongwoo wondered just how messed up their mother’s family was for them to prefer taking on their father’s name.

He knew how much they hated their father, so if their hatred for their mother’s family was even greater... he couldn’t imagine to what extent.

"Not only is my grandfather very authoritative, wanting every single thing to go his way, but that woman who gave birth to us is just beyond weak. They’re both behind the reason for our suffering in the past." He explained, soaking the cotton with spirit.

"You said you hated your mother because she took you away from me. Did you think maybe perhaps she did it because she wanted to get to know her sons?" Dongwoo asked and Seojun dropped the spirit bottle down loudly.

He did not raise his gaze and said,

"Yeah, give me a break. She took us back because there was no other option but if she was ordered to throw us out and into a foster home, I’m very sure she would comply right away." Seojun said and clicked his tongue. "She can’t make any decision for herself and that makes her even more detestable. In the first place, she shouldn’t have abandoned us." He said and shook his head. "Let’s leave it there." He said and continued what he was doing.

Dongwoo could tell that Seojun didn’t just hate his mother, he was pained. There was the hurt that he was trying his best to conceal.

Why wouldn’t he be pained when his mother abandoned him with their father just because their grandfather asked her to?

Dongwoo didn’t know a lot about motherly love but he had received more than enough affection from his late grandmother to know that no mother would think lightly of their kids.

If their mother truly loved them, then she would’ve been pained by the fact of losing them and she would’ve fought.

And maybe she did, but in her own way.

She must’ve been the type who lived while taking orders so to break out of that chain, she probably found it difficult. And just as she didn’t want to lose her children, she must’ve been scared of losing her father as well, so she tilted to the side her heart was drawn to more, even if it cost her a lot.

"Hyung," Seojun called and Dongwoo raised his head to look him in the eye. "... Our grandfather would certainly never approve of this career path we have chosen. And he would do anything in his power to get us out of it but we don’t want to stop. We want to continue like this because this way, we can be together with you, love you, and watch you as your dreams come true. We want to be a part of your happiness more than anything." He swiped Dongwoo’s hair out of his face.

"So, Lorenzo got all worked up because he was angry and scared at the same time. He has been trying all he can to make our address and life unknown to our grandfather, but he failed. It was bound to happen but it was too soon. Don’t take his harshness to heart. He will never say those things in front of you." He said, and Dongwoo, knowing that fact well, nodded.

It would scare him if that happened.

"The person he put in charge of it let out a little slip, and word has probably gotten to our grandfather; that’s why he was so upset."

He started putting the things back in the first-aid box.

"But we will fix it." Seojun said. "We will make sure that our lives and our happiness do not end with a memory." He smiled. "And I’m done."

Dongwoo looked at his hands. They were both nearly wrapped.

He smiled.

"I understand." He said. "And just as you two are fighting so hard for our relationship and our happiness," he raised his head and smiled. "I, too, will fight for us, no matter what it takes."

"Thank you." Seojun said. "I feel assured knowing Hyung wants to fight for us as much as we want to."

"It’s only fair that I do that much." Dongwoo said and got down. "I won’t worry anymore, so let’s get ready to go to the gym." He stretched his arms.

"Yeah,"

"Oh, by the way, what was the name of your mother." Dongwoo asked and though Seojun did not know what he wanted to know the name for, he answered,

"Allegra Barone."
