Chapter 212: ...till our souls perish from existence
(SPECIAL Chapter DEDICATED TO Mrs_TNT)
It’s nothing too special but I hope she likes it.
Note: Spoilers may be present. This may or may not be present, but I’m practically writing about their future, so read responsibly, hehe. If you don’t want any spoilers of any form, please skip to the next Chapter; if there are any, that is. Kekeke, ahem. Just joking. But there are spoilers so, Carry on.

What if Dongwoo and the twins finally got married? After the hurdles in their career, their sexuality, and the struggles of not being able to continue with their dreams, after everything, they were happy and in another place where their love wasn’t discriminated against.
Sometime in the future...
A little bit advanced Dongwoo sat on the porch staring at the family of three that walked past their front yard, happily with their daughter.
He was in a family of three but not like that.
Then, after gazing for so long, he picks up his phone and calls the twins. They rushed out, leaving whatever they were doing because Dongwoo did not say anything on the phone, and it got them worried.
"Honey, are you alright?" Seojin worriedly asked, going to kneel in front of him.
"Do you feel sick or anything?" Seojun asked, also going in front of him but not kneeling. He placed his hand on Dongwoo’s head to check his temperature. It was fine.
"Seojun, Seojin," Dongwoo called. "Look over there." He pointed at the spot where the family of three had been, but they were gone, so he slowly retracted his fingers, exclaiming softly, "Ah, they’re gone."
"What is it?" Seojun asked but Dongwoo stayed silent and averted his eyes.
’I’m not discontent. I’m happy when it’s just us but why do I feel it’s incomplete? Maybe it’s because I miss Lily. She was like a child.’ he thought, his eyes slowly growing teary.
Then, he looked up and saw another set of people walking past their front yard. It was an old man and an old lady, hand in hand, smiling and chatting as they walked slowly with their canes.
They looked like they could die at any moment but they were still happily together. He shut his eyes.
"What would you do if I had died instead of... Instead of..." His voice choked back as he felt hurt mentioning her death but they shook their heads and said,
"We wouldn’t have let it."
"But what if?" He pressed on.
"Honey, please don’t let us think of such a thing. I... We do not want to live in a world without you." Seojun said.
"Then what would you do if I grew old and died before you two?" He asked.
They stared at him, shocked. Why was he talking about growing old and dying all of a sudden?
"Well, we will mourn you and after that, we’ll come right after." Seojin answered and the seriousness in his gaze said it all.
"Ah, so you’ll commit suicide?" Dongwoo asked a little amused at the thought but the twins tilted their heads and then said,
"Well, it’s not suicide if it’s not with our own hands. We’ll just help each other out." He said, and Dongwoo laughed.
"Stop saying such a scary thing so nonchalantly." He said.
"Then, Honey, you have to stop speaking of the day you die." Seojun said and kissed his hand. "It scares us knowing you will leave us one day. If possible, we never want to be separated from you, even in death."
"Didn’t you notice, when we were taking the vows?" Seojin said and helped him to his feet. "We never said we would be together till death do us part, but..."
Dongwoo’s eyes widened and he repeated what they had said,
"...till our souls perish from existence." He thought of it and laughed. "No wonder I felt it was weird, but I had never really gone to a wedding before, so I didn’t know then. You two fools, are you going to find my soul even after we’re dead so we can be together in the next life?" He asked playfully but the twins looked at him lovingly.
They planned just that. If they could have their wills as souls, they would definitely find him.
"Fate..." Seojin said, dropping his head on his shoulder and wrapping his arms around his waist. "...will definitely be in our favor, I know it. Just like it did before, it will lead us back together."
"We want to be together with you, Honey." Seojun declared, holding his hands and leading him slowly towards the back of the house, with Seojin following from behind, his arms tightly around Dongwoo. "Even if we’re all old and grey,"
"Even if you start getting cute wrinkles all over," Seojin whispered,
"And you can’t take care of yourself anymore,"
"We will definitely be with you, take care of you, and do all that we can to put a smile on your face. We will love you, now and always, Honey. That’s a promise, so never forget that and never feel left out either."
Dongwoo felt touched. There was this unexplainable happiness in his heart hearing them say words like that.
He was worried.
He was worried that once he was all old and worn out and they were still much younger than him, strong and agile, they would get tired of him but their words assured him.
They had been through a lot, all three of them, and their love had depended more than ever. So at this point, it was impossible for the twins to let him go.
They would never leave him alone so he could lean on them for the rest of their lives.
"The world’s not perfect, and it’s not kind either, but as long as we’re together, it will all be fine." Seojun declared.
"We’ll always be here for you, Honey. Well, always be here for you, so put your heart at ease." Seojin added and Dongwoo smiled.
"Yes."
They got to the backyard and showed the decorations they had made while Dongwoo was sitting on the porch.
It was little but it was pretty. In half an hour, the sun would be completely down, and the entire backyard would be beautifully lit with colorful lights. Lights that wrote the words,
"Happy Anniversary."
Dongwoo felt touched at heart.
It had been so many years that he had almost lost count but the twins were still the same. Charming men who would do anything for him and put his best interest at heart.
They loved him back then, still did, and always would.
This was the best assurance one could get in life. A happy marriage that was sure to last for as long as time.
"Thank you for the surprise." He said. "And Happy Anniversary. I love you both, Seojin, Seojun. I also, want to be with you two even though we’re all worn out from old age. Thank you for choosing me and for being my greatest supporter. Thank you."
"Thank you, Hyung, for accepting flawed humans like us."
They hugged him and he laughed.
"If you’re flawed then I’m definitely the floor." He joked and laughed.
Through all his insecurities, all his traumas, and all his pain, they stayed with him. They did not judge him and were always loving. They helped him and guided him, loved him, and because of them, he was able to feel free and alive once more.
What more could he have asked for?
"Oh right, I’ll get the wine." Seojin announced. "We can’t have a hearty anniversary dinner without wine, right?"
Dongwoo and Seojun stared at him with knowing looks in their eyes and shook their heads. He was just looking for an excuse to drink but since they had a good reason this time, they’d let him.
Seojun quit smoking and quit acting like a thug. It was not easy to get his fists from acting before his brain, but they were able to do it, and his withdrawal symptoms were crazy, haha.
"Then, I’ll set the plates." Dongwoo said. "Seojun, could you help me get me...?"
He didn’t need to ask before Seojun wrapped a scarf around his neck.
"There." He said, and Dongwoo smiled softly. "It’s cold so keep warm."
"Thank you."
Seojin returned with the wine and also Dongwoo’s jacket.
"Keep warm, Hyung." He said.
"Haha, it’s like I don’t need to talk anymore. You two are literally mind readers now," He chuckled.
"Well, when our marriage anniversary falls in November every year, it’s expected to be cold outside." Seojin said, snickering.
"Well, it was your choice to get married in November." Dongwoo said, rolling his eyes as he remembered the reason they gave for setting the wedding in November.
"It’s so cold this time of the year in Italy, so let’s make sure to light the fireplace." Seojun said. "So that when we go back in, it’ll be so warm inside."
"Yeah, good idea. I want to star gaze in the meantime."
They drank wine, ate barbecue, burnt barbecue too, haha, and then stared at the sky. There were so many stars.
And at midnight, the twins each kissed Dongwoo on the cheek and whispered softly in his ears,
"Happy Birthday Hyung."
(Okay, this may or may not happen in the future. I mean, the story may not progress in the way I wrote it in this Chapter, and all of it may just be a what-if instance, okay? Lily doesn’t have to die haha, but if she did, Dongwoo would be really sad. Alright.)
