Chapter 208: Gosh, he cried again
The twins, having their hearts ripped out by Dongwoo’s words, as well as the painful expression on Dongwoo’s face.
They did not see this in the report at all. They didn’t know.
To think they he went this far, he even starved and all that because he wanted to wish them, who were more than 12 hours away from him a happy birthday.
It tugged at their hearts. It was painful and Dongwoo’s tears were even more painful.
What had they done?
They simply assumed he had forgotten their birthday and went to pull that stupid prank.
"Hyung, I’m sorry." Seojin immediately hugged him. "I’m so sorry. Why did you have to suffer like that? Why did you not think of yourself before us? Why?"
"All I could think of was hope." Dongwoo said.
Seojin wiped the tears with his thumb, but who would wipe the ones in his own eyes? Would he deny it this time? Would he deny that there were tears in his eyes after watching and hearing Dongwoo speak his heart out?
"Hyung," Seojun called, putting the cake down. "Please, hate me."
"What?!" Dongwoo exclaimed, shocked.
"I was the one who brought up the issue of the prank with Lorenzo."
"And I was the one who came up with such a stupid prank, so please hate me as well. We... We do not deserve your love and affection. We do not deserve your devotion."
Dongwoo stared at them, speechless. Then, he frowned.
"Are you two stupid?" He asked harshly, confusing them. "And I thought I was the stupid one. Sorry, I have to be harsh and blunt, but you’re starting to talk nonsense. How can you ask me to hate you?"
"Hyung, but we..."
"But what? If you were so easy to hate then we wouldn’t be where we are right now. Are my feelings a joke to you?"
"No, that’s..."
"Sigh!" He placed his hand on his head. "You’re both being immature."
"Hyung," they both stared at him with big puppy eyes, grateful that he would not hate them.
"It’s like you said, I can’t help being too nice, and my heart is just too big that it’s open to affection but closed to hate, so I could never hate you." He said, warming their hearts. "But... You two did go too far with your prank after coming to that conclusion. Did it not occur to you that I might’ve been planning a surprise?" He asked but they both averted their eyes. "Seriously, do you have that little faith in me?"
"It’s not that. It’s just... We never thought you would remember after so many years."
"And the first thing you decided to do, thinking I didn’t remember was to lie that Seojun got kidnapped and was wounded?" He asked and they once again averted their gaze, guilty. "You idiots!" He flicked their foreheads. "You were so immature in consideration of my feelings. I’m not going to hate you but I will definitely make you two pay for it. First, you’re going to put back up all the decorations I ripped off right now." He clapped his hands. "Get to it."
Dongwoo sat down and watched as they started putting up the decorations again. Though he already popped most of the balloons, there were still some unused ones so they had to blow them and put them up.
That was their punishment, for now. But it wasn’t enough to ease Dongwoo’s raging heart.
Seriously, what would they have done if he had called the police first before rushing out to meet Seojin? How were they going to explain that it had been a prank?
They may even get on the news for it. Their residence may be confidential at the moment, and there were no signs of fans following them from the company, but with this, it would’ve been bye-bye privacy and welcome ’bad reputation’.
He massaged his temple.
Gosh, he cried again. His feelings were soft and fragile and he was moved to tears over the littlest hurt. He had to admit it, he was a crybaby.
He got so emotional remembering his past and that the twins may not have had any faith in him. Deep down, he wished they had not come up with that conclusion and were at least patient. In just a few minutes, he would’ve called them to his apartment and surprised them.
But it was all ruined and he cried too.
He was feeling uncomfortable because of it.
"Hyung, we’re done." Seojin announced and he looked up to see a better job done at decoration than his own.
’Ugh, what are their hands made of? It took me more than an hour to get it all done. Is it because there are two of them? That’s probably why it’s faster but for the beauty of it... They’re honestly gifted.’
"Hyung?" Seojun called since Dongwoo did not respond. "Is it okay?"
"It is but your punishment isn’t over yet." He said. "Both of you, come."
They obediently and humbly approached and stopped in front of him.
"You’re going to kneel and admit your wrongdoings. Maybe then, my heart will feel so much better." He said, thinking he would be able to wound their pride by a little, but they immediately went down on their knees, without a shred of hesitation and even added a dog pose, raiding their hands like paws and kneeling upright.
It was embarrassing to watch but Dongwoo could not not watch.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Just kneeling and admiring our wrongdoings won’t appease you, Hyung. So, well so all we can to appease you." Seojin said.
"By acting like dogs? Don’t you have a shred of shame? Where’s your pride as a man?"
"In front of you, Hyung, there’s no such thing." Seojun declared, forcing Dongwoo to look away for a moment.
They happen to know just how to appease him, huh? He was already swayed. How could he stay angry if they were going to behave so obediently like this?
"Hyung," Seojin called, bowing his head to Dongwoo’s feet and then he licked it. "We’re sorry."
Dongwoo flinched and took back his feet right away.
"Don’t... Don’t do that." He said, blushing hard. "Alright, I... I forgive you. You don’t have to do all that." He declared. ’Dongwoo, you idiot. Why are you so easily swayed?’
"Really, Hyung?" Seojun asked and Dongwoo nodded, still blushing.
"I know you never meant for it to hurt my heart or harm me physically. So let’s take this as a mistake and not repeat it, okay? Let’s let bygones be bygones. And in the future, if you are uncertain about something, I’d advise you to ask me first. You may not need to ask directly but try to confirm first. I have a fragile heart, you know."
He stared softly at them and they nodded like obedient pups.
"Yes, Hyung."
"Then, shall we cut the cake?" Dongwoo said.
"But first, Hyung," Seojin called.
"Hm?"
"What’s with that coat?" He asked and Dongwoo flinched. "Isn’t it too hot to be wearing that?"
"Ah, about that."
