Chapter 156: I’m a bad owner

Dongwoo got out of the shower and picked up a towel to clean his hair. He was doing just fine, alone. That’s a lie. He was a wreck.

He just spent the last hour in the shower, not just showering but jerking off. He had the twins next door, and if he was aroused, he could just go to them, but he was punishing himself.

And what was he punishing himself for? Nothing.

He just felt like he should stay away from the twins for a while and recollect his thoughts. Maybe then he would remember what it was like before them before his greed sprung out of control.

He thought maybe if he stayed away from sex, he would be less greedy and have less selfish thoughts but it wasn’t working.

Nothing was.

He sighed and threw himself on his bed.

"What am I doing?" He asked himself. "I hope they’re not hurting with my decision. I... I hope they can understand me. Understand that I’m scared of myself."

Just then, he heard his doorbell.

’Huh? I didn’t order delivery.’ he thought and walked out of his room. He checked his intercom and his eyes widened to see who it was.

He immediately opened his door and exclaimed out loud,

"Ge-Geuntae? What are you doing here?" He asked and looked out as if checking to see if he was followed. "And how did you know where I live?"

"Haha, what a cute reaction. Your PJs are also cute, sweetie." Geumtae said, smiling brightly.

Dongwoo looked down at his Pajamas. It was the pink pajama Seojin got for him. It seemed like Seojin was a real fan of pink.

"And to answer both your questions. First, I wanted to surprise you. And second, you wrote your address down when you started Lily’s treatment." He said. "So, can I come in?"

"Um, yeah. I think."

He let Geumtae in and scurried around, to get him a refreshment while Geumtae looked around with his eyes.

"What a nice place you’ve got here." He said.

"Yeah, please sit." Dongwoo said, feeling a little overwhelmed. "I don’t usually have people over, so..."

"Haha, don’t your ’friends’ come over?" He asked with a little laugh, and Dongwoo paused. Ah, he should’ve seen that coming.

Lily crawled up the couch and sat in front of Geumtae.

"Hey there." Geumtae greeted her. "Just because your treatment ended, your papa refused to visit me. Isn’t that sad?"

"Purrr!" Lily pursed and started licking her legs.

"Haha, I know, right?" He responded as if he understood what Lily said and Dongwoo came back with a glass of orange juice.

"I’m sorry I didn’t contact you. I’ve been very busy as of late."

"I can tell, ’big shot’ Lee Dongwoo." He said, and Dongwoo looked aside, feeling embarrassed.

"Calling me a big shot is a bit stretched, isn’t it?" He said, rubbing the back of his neck but Geumtae laughed.

"Haha, no." He sipped on the orange juice and nodded in satisfaction. "It’s good."

"Thank you."

Geumtae looked at Dongwoo and noticed his awkward sitting pose. It was as if he had something to say.

"Just spill it, sweetie." He crossed his legs. "If you’ve already fallen for me and you plan to confess, I’m all ears." He said so shamelessly that Dongwoo was tempted to take off the crown from Seojun and place it on his head.

"Hah! You’re so full of yourself." He said, looking at him like a weed.

"Haha, that hurts, sweetie." He said and placed down the glass. "So, what is it?"

Dongwoo sighed.

"I’m a bad owner." He suddenly said, staring at Lily.

"Hm?"

"It slipped my mind that I would need someone to take care of Lily while I’m away in Paris." He explained. "It’s like I completely neglected her and thinking of it now, I feel so horrible."

"Oh, so that’s the problem." Geumtae looked down at Lily and rubbed her fur, moving his fingers to her neck and tickling her sweet spot. "So, you want me to take care of her while you’re away?"

Dongwoo nodded.

"I know it’s a lot to ask but it’s true, as you said, I don’t really have friends that can help me with this, and all the people I know are my crew members and we’re not that close to be asking for favors like this but even if we were, we’re all going to Paris so I can’t ask them. So please," he bowed his head. "Please help me look after her."

"Okay." Geumtae answered right away and smiled.

"Ah, really? Thank..."

"But..." Geumtae interrupted him, looking at Dongwoo with eyes filled with interest. "It’s going to cost you." He said.

"How... How much exactly?" Dongwoo asked but Geumtae waved it away and said,

"I don’t need money, Sweetie. What I need is something only you can give." He tilted his head, but before he could go any further with his request, Dongwoo stopped him.

"Hold on, before you say anything, know that I won’t do anything intimate with you. I’m in a relationship, so please stop making advances to me." He said. "If you really were serious about it."

Geumtae was stunned, and he blinked twice before regaining his composure.

"Wow, that was kinda harsh, sweetie. Your rejection hurts." He said and Dongwoo could not help but remember Seojin saying those same words. "So, you found yourself a lover." He grinned. "Or should I say you found yourself lovers who adore you?"

Dongwoo flinched and clenched his fists. If he didn’t say anything, he would only be confirming his words.

"It doesn’t matter." He said and raised his head to confidently look Geumtae in the eye. "I think of you as no more than a friend and I’m sorry if I have to reject you in this way while askigm for a favor as well but it’s just impossible between us. I hope you understand."

"Hm, that’s funny." Geumtae said and got up. He walked towards Dongwoo and leaned his face so close to him that it looked like he was going to steal a kiss. "You know very well that I am interested in you, yet you allowed me into your apartment. Do you not have an ouch of self-awareness?"

"What do you mean?"

"You never know, sweetie." He raised his hand and caressed Dongwoo’s face. "I might be a bad guy and just force myself on you. What would you do then? You won’t be able to run or call for help since we’re alone in your apartment. Just you-" His hands landed on Dongwoo’s neck which sent shivers down his spine. "-and me."

But it wasn’t shivers of pleasure, but of fright. He didn’t know if Geumtae was serious in what he was saying. But... He wanted to trust him.

"I... Trust you." He said and Geumtae smiled.

"Well, I don’t trust myself. Do you still choose to trust me?" He asked and Dongwoo boldly nodded.

Seeing this, Geumtae took his hand off him and shifted back. He sighed.

"Hah! I guess it’s my loss this time." He said. "But you ought to be cautious, sweetie. You can’t just let anyone into your apartment. They could be really bad guys."

Dongwoo touched his neck, lost in thoughts. The fear he felt just now was different.

He had felt a lot of fear in his life. Fear of being defiled, fear of making a mistake, fear of giving up, fear of disappointing others... He had experienced a lot of fears but this time, it was different.

It was like... He was scared of himself.

"Alright, I’ll head out now." Geumtae said, carrying Lily. "It’ll just be me and you, little one."

"Ah, thank you." Dongwoo said, getting up to his feet. "I’ll treat you to dinner after I get back."

"Alright, I’ll hold you on that."

They both walked towards the door and Geumtae remembered something.

"So, did you like the perfume?" He asked but Dongwoo darted his eyes aside and said,

"I... I haven’t had the chance to use it." He could not say he couldn’t use it because of the twins. Best to leave it aside.

Dongwoo opened the door, only to find the twins in front of him, about to ring his doorbell.

"Ops, bad timing." Geumtae exclaimed.
