Is It Wrong To Love My StepBrother Alpha Mate? -
Chapter 72: The Day After
Chapter 72: The Day After
It took Romeo a moment to process how much his life had changed overnight. He lay still as he let all of the memories from the previous day come flooding back.
From the sensual Ritual Bath, to the feeling of all the pack links connecting to him as he took every oath from every member of his pack, to finding out that the only woman he’s ever loved was his mate. The previous day had definitly been one for the books.
He wasn’t quite ready to wake up and face the day yet. As a matter of fact he didn’t want to get out of bed and leave his mate.
Unfortunately, he was Alpha and there was a lot of work to do especially after last night’s attack.
He needed to get to the bottom of it if he was going to give his future family a peacful world to live in.
’Wow,’ Romeo thought to himself. ’A family. Helena and I spoke about having pups last night.’
’She seemed to like the idea of pups,’ Ryder said in agreement.
’Well, we better get started on making them,’ Romeo chuckled.
He reached over to pull Helena close and tease her about making pups, but he was shocked to feel a cold and empty space next to him.
Romeo shot up in bed, searching for Helena.
’Bath?’ Ryder asked him as Romeo threw the blanket off his legs and practically jumped from the bed.
The room was silent, Romeo doubted that that’s where he’d find Helena.
When they entered the bathroom and found it empty, Romeo began to panic.
’Maybe they went for a run?’ Ryder asked.
Ryder was right, they could just be somewhere else in the pack.
Romeo tried to reach out to her through the mate bond but was only met with a wall.
’She’s blocking us,’ Romeo sighed. ’Can you try to reach out to Hera?’
Ryder went silent, making Romeo worry.
While he waited for his wolf to contact their mate he threw on some clothes and headed down just in case Helena grabbed breakfast or something.
While he was there he found his stepmom and Rebecca cooking pancakes.
"Wow, you’re up early," Alyssa teased.
"Mom," Romeo grunted.
Alyssa raised an eyebrow as she noticed his odd behavior.
"What’s wrong?" Rebecca asked her brother.
"Have you seen Helena?" he asked as he scanned the room in search for any signs of her.
"Shouldn’t she be in your room?" Alyssa teased. "It’s way too early to be up for newly mated wolves."
Alyssa pointed his mate mark, making Romeo smile.
They were mated now, for life.
Nothing could take Helena away from him.
"She wasn’t there where I woke up," Romeo said with a frown as he was dragged back to reality. "And she blocked me out."
Alyssa raised her eyebrow, shocked by what Romeo just said.
"Why would she do that?" Alyssa asked her stepson. "Did you fight last night?"
"No, last night was amazing," Romeo said as he aggressively shook his head. "As a matter of fact, we spoke about having pups."
"Oh my," Alyssa gasped. "Did she tell you she didn’t want them and you guys argued?"
"What? No? Mom, what are you talking about?" Romeo asked, confused as to why his stepmother would think Helena didn’t want pups. "She told me she wanted them."
"Hmmm," Alyssa hummed as she plated a couple of pancakes for Rebecca. "I wonder what’s gotten into that girl of mine."
Romeo frowned.
Speaking to his stepmother gave him no answers, just more questions.
’Has anyone seen the Luna?’ Romeo asked his pack as he threw the question across the pack link.
’No alpha.’
’Sorry, Alpah, haven’t seen her.’
’She wasn’t at training this morning.’
Romeo frowned.
How was it possible that no one in their pack had seen her?
Surely she was somewhere within the pack territory.
’Any luck?’ Romeo asked his wolf as he walked out of the packhouse.
’None,’ Ryder answered. ’I can’t reach Hera either.’
Romeo could sense the panic in his wolf’s tone.
This wasn’t normal, he should be able to reach out to her now that they were mated, but it seemed even harder now.
"Romeo!" came Kade’s voice as Romeo neared the woods behind the packhouse.
He’d thought of looking there since Helena always liked to go on runs in that area mainly cause there was no one else around.
"Kade?" Romeo asked as he noticed his Gamma’s disheveled look.
It was as if he hadn’t gotten any sleep and just threw on whatever clothes he could find.
That’s when an idea struck him.
Kade was mated to Rae and Rae was Helena’s best friend. If anyone could reach Helena it would be his sister.
Romeo couldn’t help but smile as he felt an answer to his problem near.
"Actually, Kade perfect timing," Romeo said as he walked up to meet his Gamma halfway. "Have you seen Helena?"
"That’s why I came here," Kade said with a frown.
Kade was looking everywhere except at Romeo.
"What is it?" Romeo asked with a little bite to his tone.
"I heard your message through the pack link, Helena is missing too?" Kade asked as he shifted on his legs.
"What do you mean too?" Romeo asked as he glared at his Beta.
"Well..." Kade said as he scratched the back of his head. "Rae’s been missing since this morning too."
"So they’re together?" Romeo asked, hopeful since his sister and his mate were together.
"They could be, but I don’t think it’s good news," Kade told him.
"Why?" Romeo asked, tilting his head to the side.
"Rae’s car was seen leaving the territory and well, she left me a message telling me not to go after her, that she needed to get away," Kade admitted.
"What?!" Romeo asked as he let out a growl.
He was about to command a search for his mate and sister when one of their border patrols reached out to him.
’Alpha, we have a large group of wolves approaching.’
