Is It Wrong To Love My StepBrother Alpha Mate? -
Chapter 61: The Alpha
Chapter 61: The Alpha
Stepping out of the temple with Helena by his side felt like the highlight of his life to Romeo.
He was going to be Alpha, and the only woman he’d ever loved was going to be his Luna and his mate. It was like all his goals and dreams were coming true in one night.
A stage had been set up in front of the temple and Romeo could see the crowd that had gathered.
There were thousands of wolves waiting for him and Helena, wolves that weren’t just from their pack but leaders and dignitaries from others as well.
’How’s the security?’ he asked Kade through their link.
’We have hundreds of wolves patrolling the border,’ Kade assured him. ’No one will ruin tonight for you.’
Romeo closed his eyes and smiled. He doubted anything could ruin this day for him. He’d woken up with Helena in his arms, and he was looking forward to going to bed with her tonight.
"There are so many people," Helena gasped as she noticed the number of guests and pack members waiting for them.
Romeo noticed as she hesitated, taking a step back.
He placed a hand on the small of her back and drew circles around it.
"I’m here, I’ll be here next to you the whole time," he promised her.
Helena sighed and shook her head.
"I’m supposed to be here to support you," Helena told him.
"You are supporting me," Romeo chuckled, leaning down and planting a kiss on the top of her head. "By standing next to me, you are supporting me."
Helena looked up at him and frowned.
"What’s wrong?" he asked, worried that he’d said something wrong.
She closed her eyes and shook her head.
"Why do you have to be so good?" Helena asked. "Why do you have to make it so difficult to leave?"
"Because, Helena, you’re not supposed to leave," Romeo said as he cupped her face in his hands and leaned forward to give her a kiss. "Maybe because you’re meant to be here and stay here by my side."
Helena blinked and sighed as she leaned against Romeo.
Romeo couldn’t help but look up to the sky and smile.
’Everything feels right,’ Romeo told his wolf. ’Like it is as it should be.’
’Having Helena and Hera in our arms sure makes it feel like they are our mates,’ Ryder said, agreeing with his human.
’Do you think they’ll run?’ Romeo couldn’t help but worry that when they wake up Helena would no longer be at their side.
’I still feel Helena and Hera’s fear,’ Ryder said sadly.
’Then we need to make sure they have nothing to worry about,’ Romeo said as he held Helena in his arms, waiting for her to calm down.
"You guys ready?" Alyssa asked as she joined them behind the stage. "You can take your time, I know this is overwhelming."
Helena looked up at Romeo, and it looked like she was asking him if he was ready.
"I am," Romeo said with a nod as he gave his stepmom a smile. "It’s a role I’ve grown up knowing I will take."
Alyssa smiled at him but didn’t make a move to escort them up the stage.
"Are you ready, love?" Romeo whispered in her ear. "Cause if you get up there with me, I’m never letting you go."
Helena laughed and shook her head, catching Romeo off guard.
"Romeo," she sighed as she looked down at the hands as she played with her dress.
It was so odd seeing Helena so subdued and nervous, it was very unlike the Helena he’d grown up with and come to love.
"What?" Romeo asked.
"I’m here as your acting Luna, you do know that, right?" Helena asked, tilting her head to the side.
"Helena, as I said, if you think I’ll ever let you go, then you don’t know me at all," Romeo said as he pressed a chaste kiss on her lips.
Helena smiled and shook her head.
"We’ll see," she chuckled before taking his hand and leading him toward the stairs up the stage.
"He’s ready, Mom," Helena said as she gave Alyssa a nod.
Alyssa looked at them, her gaze filled with love before turning back and climbing the stage ahead of them.
Romeo held Helena’s hand tightly, he knew today would be a day he’d remember for the rest of their lives.
"Blackmoon and Stonehill Pack, our visiting guests, by the grace of the Goddess, the Alpha Heir and his Luna have completed the ritual cleansing," Alyssa said, her voice booming across the field.
’His Luna’ Romeo repeated to himself and his wolf.
’Our Luna, not our acting Luna,’ Ryder said in agreement.
Romeo took the lead this time as he rose up the stage with Helena’s hand in his.
When he glanced at her, he could see the blush against her skin. There was no guessing that something had happened between them during the ritual cleansing.
The crowd cheered as they stood on the stage facing their pack and their guests.
"We are honored that you have all chosen to join us today," Raul said as he stood beside Alyssa. "I cannot be more proud of both my son and my stepdaughter for the Alphas they will become."
A round of applause rose from the audience with some of the pack members cheering and shouting.
Romeo smiled and raised his and Helena’s joined hands in the air.
Raul cleared his throat, silencing the audience.
"Now, for the reason we’ve all gathered," Raul told them as Helena’s hand slipped from Romeo’s.
He tried to pull it back, but she shook her head as she stepped away, joining her mother to the side.
Rae joined them on the stage, carrying the ceremonial blade and a simple bowl that was meant to catch their blood.
"All oaths are made in blood," Raul said as he looked his son in the eyes. "And it is only appropriate that you take your oath as alpha in blood."
